We are wanting to add a refrigerator to our garage. Unfortunately the only outlet in the area where we want to put the refrigerator was a 220 volt, commonly used for an electric vehicle. The original idea was to convert the outlet to a 110. Alex arrived within the agreed upon time frame, planning to just give a quote. He gave another option. Usually when I leave a yelp review it's for a restaurant but I felt compelled to give a review to these folks since I called 5 different electricians and these guys were by far the most reasonable for a recess lighting job we had in the son's bedroom. I called Bay Electric 2 yrs ago for an estimate on stringing patio lights. It took only one phone call to schedule an appointment. Joe came out, explained the scope of the work involved. He did an amazing job and the price was fair. Joe installed 5 posts and strung 49ft of my lights, using lights I proved and their hardware for a total of $1000.00. I was super satisfied with the entire experience. I love their work so much that I called them back a few weeks ago to have 24 ft of the same lights restrung that were removed during our pool construction. No new hardware, lights or cable would be needed. Unlike the first experience; I had to call 4 times to make an appointment. They rarely answer the phone and do not return calls promptly. There is a message stating you can call a field rep for immediate assistance; however when I called him; he asked why I was calling him directly and not the office and said he would have the office to call me back- that never happen. This is also when I found out that Joe was no longer with the company. I should have recognized the red flags and moved along. But I didn't because my past experience was wonderful and priced fairly. Boy, was that a mistake. Their quote for adding one additional post and 24ft of same lights without any new wire, hardware or cable was a whooping $800.00 How do you go from $1000.00 to hang 49ft of lights, add 5 posts, include new hardware,new cable and labor to a whooping $800.00 to hang 24ft lights, add 1 post and no new hardware, or cable I wish I could have given zero stars for attempting to rip me off- Bayside Electric shame on you! read more

The electrician (Andruw), who did our installation, suggested that we install dimmer switches . I would have never known about these, had he not suggested them. They are such a nice added feature! Did a 400A service upgrade and got 7 estimates. Bayside was one of the cheaper quotes. Joe did the quote and the work along with 2 assistants. I ran the PGE application, permit and inspection process which was interesting to say the least. On the day of the work, Joe showed up at 6:30am! The crew worked fast and professionally. The inspector came early so he only gave us the meter release, which was enough to get reconnected back with PGE and get power back. I had final signoff the next day! Now that PG&E is going to possibly be turning our power off for days at a time due to the new Wildfire Safety Program I wanted to have a generator transfer switch installed. Not sure who to call I decided to look on Yelp to see who others were using in the Fairfield area. After calling and speaking to Joe with Bayside Electric he said "let me swing by you house and look at your panel and I'll give you a call from there" (since I was at work). Sure enough a few hours later I got a call from Joe saying he was looking at my panel and they could do it no problem. He scheduled me an appointment for a few days away for between 7 am and 8 am. Joe showed up at about 7:05 am in a very nicely equipped vehicle that was clean with the all the necessary tools and went to work. It took him about an hour or so to install the transfer box. His previously quoted price he gave over the phone was very, very fair and made me feel like I had an honest person on my hands that wasn't out to gouge the homeowner. The overall installation looks very clean and tidy and I couldn't be happier with not having to run electrical cords from my generator into the house. All I have to do now is turn off my main breaker (so I don't back feed the electrical grid and possibly harm a PG&E worker), hook up the generator with the new heavy duty electrical cord to the transfer switch and start it up. Since I don't have to run extension cords through open windows I don't have to worry about the exhaust from the generator getting into the house and possibly poisoning us with Carbon Monoxide. Also since I ordered a 40 ft. power cord I can have the generator far enough away from the house so that the Carbon Monoxide won't enter the house via the eves of the house where it can get into your attic and slowly seep into the house over time. I'm sure once word gets out for what PG&E has in store for us starting in 2019 others are going to be jumping on board with wanting transfer switches installed. If you are one of those people I highly, highly recommend Bayside Electric. The overall vibe I received is that it is all about the customer and that is rare in this day and age.
