Miguel come by on Saturday to give me a quote. He was going to come out Friday night after we nearly had an electrical fire. He was here in Saturday when he said he would be, was knowledgeable and ask all the right questions. He called the PG&E person that was at me house the night before to verify some things and left the phone on speaker so I could hear was was said. He told me his team would be at my house on Monday 9-9:30. They showed up at 9:00. The guys doing the work were professional explained what they were doing and were efficient. On time and excellent communication. We had a very confusing issue with our island range vent system and it was unclear as to the reason for it frequently losing all power in just that particular outlet. Adrian and Frankie worked diligently to solve the problem, in the end changing out a very old GFCI outlet connected to the system upstairs. Have not had a problem since! I had been searching for a local California licensed certified electrician when I connected with Juan at "Skylight Electrical Service" located in Fairfield. He was very personable and knowledgeable about our issues , so we arranged an appointment for Juan's estimator to come to our home to look at our project and offer us an estimate for the work that I described. In the meantime, I checked out their credentials at the California Contractors State License Board and found them to be licensed, bonded and covered by liability and workman's compensation insurance policies. Their pricing also turned out to be competitive with others I had talked to, that did not have that protection that I believed was so necessary these days. Their estimator "Miguel" arrived on time, looked over the work we needed to have done, offered us their estimate and promised to have a written estimate sent to us that evening by email. Their emailed estimate was acceptable, timely, and they could have one of their technicians perform the work the following week. I approved the estimate, no deposit required, and confirmed the work, as scheduled. When the electrician "Greg" arrived on time, he immediately set up the various areas to be worked on and started his work. In total, he took about 1/2 hour longer than he expected, only because he took extra measures to protect our home and clean up these areas when the work was completed. I have been a licensed California General Contractor since 1970 and have never had the pleasure of working with a professional, knowledgeable, and talented group of gentlemen, such as the entire staff of people at Skylight Electrical Service. From the initial "Hello" on the phone to the handshake and "Thank you for your business" when the work was done. It was our pleasure to have them address our needs with polite integrity, attentive to their clients concerns and expedient in their excellent workmanship. This is in no way a hit on Luis, as his work was great, but I'm really frustrated that Skylight has failed to honor a discount they offered me for having a referral from a friend who worked with Miguel before he started Skylight. Luis presented me with a bill at the end of service that didn't include the promised discount (he wasn't made aware in advance, so it wasn't his fault). As he was running to the next job and he couldn't get ahold of Miguel, we agreed I would pay my bill later. After he waited for a good while for a call back that never came, I had no choice but to sign his phone so he could be released to go to the next job, but I made it clear that I wasn't agreeing to the cost shown. Rather than uphold the promised discount, they sent me a bill that included their regular diagnostic fee. I'm really disappointed that they haven't been honest about what I was offered. read more

Mid 2022 we reached out to Skylight Electrical Service to provide an estimate to install a higher voltage outlet for an electric vehicle. Frankie and Jason did excellent work. I needed the wires and power boxes from my two Samsung Frame TVs hidden. This model is the one that is so flat that it looks like a piece of art hanging on the wall. The challenge is that all the guts that power the TV are in a box, the size of a gaming console. Wires run from it to the TV. Frankie figured out a creative solution for one that was a bit more tricky to hide. They were also able to take an additional small project that wasn't planned for the initial quote. They were able to revise the quote quickly while on site and complete that project as well. Frankie and Jason showed up on time, were very professional, and worked efficiently. Working with Skylight electrical was a great experience end to end, from quote to completion. If I could leave 0 stars I would. High level summary: disorganized with scheduling, insincere, and unconvincing when giving reasons as to why pricing was twice that of licensed/insured competitors. Went so far as to berate me for their tardiness, implying they were doing me a favor for trying to fix their own mistake. Highly advise not using their services. ------------------------------------------------- Scheduled an appointment for 10 am. Moved morning around to facilitate this. After 20 minutes of tardiness, I reached out with no initial response. Soon after received a response stating they were unaware of the scheduled appointment (even though was replied to in Yelp, administrative issues?). They asked what time in the day would work best for me to reschedule, I replied that 6:15pm was the absolute earliest I could have my next appointment as I needed to damage control my lost time for the morning. They agreed, only to show up at 5:58pm, during which time I was still having my meeting they rudely forced my to reschedule. After informing them over intercom they were still 15 minutes early and I was in a meeting, they appeared bothered and disgruntled. I then forced my meeting to conclude, and invited them inside. After they entered and I showed them the space, they gave me pricing for the job. The pricing was over 100% that of several other quotes, and 50% of that of the closest most expensive competitor. I asked why the difference existed, and what the additional money was paying for. In a long winded fragmented response I received several key points: -They are certified like their competitors -They will do the job right -They need extra time to measure the room out, that choosing where I wanted my sconces was not as easy as putting a light box and wiring in the center of the ceiling (implying you don't need to measure to find the center of the ceiling) Since I had graphed the entire room out in CAD, I offered to then draw the box where the sconce would go, so they only need to cut the box, and administer any wire drops from the attic entrance no more than 5 feet away. They answered they would still need the extra time to measure the box spot, getting confused, then spiraling into a long winded description of: They could be eating dinner right now. But they chose to come here at this time to make this right, that I should be grateful. This didn't need to happen but they wanted to make it happen. Translated into: They were late to a scheduled appointment, wasting my morning. I permitted them an additional opportunity to earn MY business by returning later when I was to eat dinner. They showed up out of schedule, ruining my meeting again. Then offered me no intelligent solutions to their over pricing, insisting they are doing me a favor for even being their in the first place and that I should be grateful. That is a nope from me. read more
