If I could leave 0 stars I would. High level summary: disorganized with scheduling, insincere, and unconvincing when giving reasons as to why pricing was twice that of licensed/insured competitors. Went so far as to berate me for their tardiness, implying they were doing me a favor for trying to fix their own mistake. Highly advise not using their services. ------------------------------------------------- Scheduled an appointment for 10 am. Moved morning around to facilitate this. After 20 minutes of tardiness, I reached out with no initial response. Soon after received a response stating they were unaware of the scheduled appointment (even though was replied to in Yelp, administrative issues?). They asked what time in the day would work best for me to reschedule, I replied that 6:15pm was the absolute earliest I could have my next appointment as I needed to damage control my lost time for the morning. They agreed, only to show up at 5:58pm, during which time I was still having my meeting they rudely forced my to reschedule. After informing them over intercom they were still 15 minutes early and I was in a meeting, they appeared bothered and disgruntled. I then forced my meeting to conclude, and invited them inside. After they entered and I showed them the space, they gave me pricing for the job. The pricing was over 100% that of several other quotes, and 50% of that of the closest most expensive competitor. I asked why the difference existed, and what the additional money was paying for. In a long winded fragmented response I received several key points: -They are certified like their competitors -They will do the job right -They need extra time to measure the room out, that choosing where I wanted my sconces was not as easy as putting a light box and wiring in the center of the ceiling (implying you don't need to measure to find the center of the ceiling) Since I had graphed the entire room out in CAD, I offered to then draw the box where the sconce would go, so they only need to cut the box, and administer any wire drops from the attic entrance no more than 5 feet away. They answered they would still need the extra time to measure the box spot, getting confused, then spiraling into a long winded description of: They could be eating dinner right now. But they chose to come here at this time to make this right, that I should be grateful. This didn't need to happen but they wanted to make it happen. Translated into: They were late to a scheduled appointment, wasting my morning. I permitted them an additional opportunity to earn MY business by returning later when I was to eat dinner. They showed up out of schedule, ruining my meeting again. Then offered me no intelligent solutions to their over pricing, insisting they are doing me a favor for even being their in the first place and that I should be grateful. Totally 5 stars! I am so glad I found this company. They were the first to respond to my request for a quote on Yelp and the first to offer to come out to do a free estimate. I wanted 6 recessed lights, a new outlet, and new light switch. The guys were able to do everything in one day for the original estimate and it's absolutely perfect. It's just what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. They covered all of the things in the room with plastic so there was no dust or mess at all. Miguel has been helping us with our electrical needs for years...from updating our lights, to changing our lights to recessed lighting, rewiring lights and outlets, putting in a super quiet whole house fan (best thing ever), as well as hooking up a generator among other things. This company is the perfect example of of a stellar local business. I had issues with my power going out on just a few outlets. Skylight came out that day too check the issue. They found I needed a panel upgrade and carefully explained why that was needed. That night I had a few lights flickering. I called and the owner (Miguel) was out at 7pm. I was advised not to use any large draw appliances and limit usage to lights. He rearranged their schedule and had an electrician out early the next morning. Miguel also built my panel that night so it would be ready in the morning on a Saturday. (After working until 7:30p). Luis, a Journeyman electrician replaced the panel, explaining everything during the process. He was knowledgeable, polite, pleasant and engaging. Had Skylight electrical come in and replaced my house electrical panel and installed two ceiling fans and light switches for the fan. Skylight technicians Luis, Jason and Frankie came in at the time frame they told us they would be at my house. When they arrive they very polite and introduce them selfs and told who changing the fans and who was doing the electrical panel. All three put booties over their shoes and wore masks. Luis, Jason and Frankie did a great and professional job. After the job was complete they went through the whole electrical system with my wife and I. Making sure every was working OK. We called Skylight to get quotes on ceiling fan installation and we got a call right back and an appt to come over. Miguel showed up on time, diagnosed a faulty motor on one fan and quoted us $450 to take out the faulty fan, replace it with another working fan in the living room then assemble and install a new fan in the living room. His team, Alex and Greg, showed up that same day to do the work. How cool is that! When they were running late, we were notified. That's very thoughtful and smart business. Miguel came out to give me an estimate yesterday. He was so polite and punctual. He checked everything out and was really thorough. He actually determined that the problem was with the PG&E box on the street, not with my home. He helped me take pictures of the damaged wires in the box and told me what to tell PG&E. He did not charge me anything for all the testing and assessing he did. A previous electrician from a different company came out a few days prior and said my whole panel needed to be replaced and it would cost $1700. I completely believed him because ..what do I know about electricity? Miguel examined every part of the interior and exterior panels and found no problems, evening showing me the readings he was getting. I needed to replace some conduits outside the house that were indoor conduits, add a gfci outlet to connect to and move an outlet in the bathroom for the bidet. The original quote from Miguel was a bit high for me but he worked with me to make it more affordable. Frankie and Jason were the techs that came to do the work. They were very professional, worked quickly and efficiently and were very polite and pleasant too. Frankie took the time to check why one of the outlets weren't getting power and figured out that the bedroom light switch was wired wrong, he fixed it and eliminated the need to create an outlet in the living room to connect to the motion sensor light on the porch. I had an outlet on the back porch that was missing the proper covering and Jason fixed the problem although it wasn't included in the quoted work.
