I have had several repairs done by Joe and his crew the past several years. Every time I need them, they are there for me. The last time I called them, they were out in just a couple hours, ordered the part I needed and repaired it all in a good period of time. To top that off, the guy sent to actually do the repair (Brian) finished the job so quickly that he scrapped the glass bowl clean of all its hard water (I had expressed that I was contemplating getting a new sink because it is impossible to keep clean). I always check out a company before I give them a call to do any work on my home. I needed some plumbing work done in my kitchen, and went about and did my research. When I found DiSalvo Plumbing, I checked the papers and reputation. Everything was up to date, very reputable on the BBB with a spotless record, it has been in business for many years, and only ~1 mile from where I live. I was looking for some work around the pipes in the kitchen. Communication was friendly, and we scheduled a date around my calendar for the work. Brian came out, and he did a fantastic job. Installed a new faucet that I was going to do on top of fixing the pipes that needed repair. I'm happy with DiSalvo Plumbing. They just completed a repair of a leaking tub drain on the 2nd floor that we called about yesterday afternoon. They diagnosed the problem, fixed it, cleaned up and were out in less than 30 minutes, for a very reasonable $97 charge. They've done several other repair jobs for us previously and every time have been very punctual, knowledgeable, fair priced (though a tad on the high side at times) and did quality work. Joe is awesome. I called him over the weekend to replace a water heater. He asked some basic questions and educated me on the fact that my water heater was on its last legs. It was leaking from the bottom and not being very efficient. Joe showed up on time and ready to complete the job in a timely manner and was reasonable in in pricing. I've hired Joe twice. Both were for water leaks so had to be done quickly. The first was for a busted water heater/install and the second was for a busted garbage disposal/install. Joe Disalvo is a customer service oriented plumber who was established in Santa Clara for 35 years where he had the honor of being one of the top 10 plumbers in the county. He moved to Windsor a year or so ago. Since he's starting over in a new area, I can usually get him the same day and after using him twice, decided to write a review. Joe is honest ... he won't gouge and he shows up without an attitude ... very nice ... and does a great job. I highly recommend you call him first if you need something done right away. My wife and I just bought a house and the inspection report noted a leaking shower drain. I was at work during the service call, so my wife dealt with the plumbers. After the crawlspace inspection, the guy tells my wife that all the plumbing is bad and the entire system needs to be replaced- his manager will get back to us with a quote. If you have ever seen the Tom hanks movie 'Money Pit', you get the picture. I read over the notes and there was some questionable things called out: items not to code, items that were a bit kludgey, insufficient venting, etc. The house was, after all, built in 1975 and has seen several remodels, additions, and countless DIY'ers. But I saw nothing on their invoice that made me too worried and the supply and drains all appear perfectly functional (original leak not withstanding). Oh yeah, they charged $90 and as far as I could tell from the invoice, didn't fix anything. My father-in-law recommended another plumber- Ron. Ron came over and fixed the problem in about an hour, and though he found a slight leak at the toilet flange which he also fixed, there was no mention of other catastrophic problems. If there was a major problem with the plumbing (which I now doubt as the house inspector or the second plumber didn't mention it), they never even followed up. I'm not sure which scenario is worse. read more

Disalvo is good for basic plumbing and everyday type fixture install. On high end fixtures like Grohie ECT... They don't read the instructions and not being familiar with the product had nothing but problems. They blame the manufacture for bad design. read more

Then I was able to ask him about a few other things around my house and he helped me with them too. If you need a plumber this is the place to come to. A few years ago Joe put a gas line and hot water heater into our house along with a gas line for a dryer. We were very impressed with all aspects of the job and quality of work. Recently it took several attempts to contact Joe to install a gas line for a fireplace insert. Joe came out to look at the job and said he would get back to us with an estimate. After waiting a week, I tried to contact Joe twice, messages were not returned. I would have liked to have liked the courtesy of being told he did not want to do the job, instead of being ignored after being told an estimate would be coming. I called disalvo plumbing for a repair in my bath room that I tried to fix my self, the person who originally did the work when the house was built didn't know what they were doing. When I talked to joe I asked for a quote and it was very reasonable. I asked when would he be available to do the job he replied tomorrow morning between 8:30-9:00 I asked if he could call before he came so I could be ready, he said no problem I'll talk to you in the morning. 8:30 in the morning I got the phone call and he was here shortly after. Very disappointed in Disalvo plumbing. I left a call on July 2nd for some plumbing issues I needed fixed. Received a call back from Joe letting me know that they were closed for the holiday, but would give me a call on Monday. Not a problem I told him. Anticipating a call on Monday, I took the day off thinking that he would probably schedule some time to drop by. I waited a half a day, thinking that he was in the middle of a job, I called and got voicemail. I left a message explaining who I was, our conversation on Thursday, and his word that he would be calling me. Left my number, again, and waited. No call. Tuesday, no call. I contacted another plumber and he showed up that afternoon as promised. Still no call from Joe. I guess when you have plenty of work, and you don't need more work, you ignore the person and hope they go away. Well, I went away. Good luck running a business in this manner. read more
