I was visiting Dallas when my S500 became due for servicing, so I looked on yelp for a good shop. I NEVER take my cars to the dealer. They want too much money and the service is almost always poor. Arthur's is a family business and knows that just because you enjoy fine automobiles doesn't necessarily mean you have more money than you know what to do with. I met the entire family on my first visit. Arthur recommended a good muffler shop to repair some corrosion on my exhaust system. Marc invited me out to watch him service the car and we shared great conversation while pointing out service recommendations and the parts that would probably be the first to go. At no point did they try to sell me anything. The icing on the cake? I had a leaky fuel oil sensor that needed to be replaced. They had another from an engine they were rebuilding and swapped it out at no charge. You don't get quality, neighborly service like that anymore. I will be happy to make the trip from Oklahoma just to take my car to Arthur's, and have recommended them to everyone I know in the area who owns a Mercedes. read more

Arthur's has been a godsend. I have been taking two Benz's here starting about 8 year's ago. My Dad brings his as well. Arthur has his certificate from the Mannheim, Germany Mercedes-Benz Factory on the wall from 1950-something. It becomes very obvious that it is this man's true passion and calling in life to work on these automobiles. I sometimes have felt like I was in trouble for bringing one of his babies in without proper care. The best part is I truly feel that I am getting honest service. So many auto repair joints are total scam-fests. I'm sure we all know that. I previously used Ewing. Take away the fancy decor etc. and there is no comparison. Arthur's is blue collar all the way. They take care of your car, not you. So if you have a Benz and are tired of the dealership markup. Trust me and ignore the looks of things. Arthur's is the option. An actual partner in keeping your precious Benz running forever if you so desire. read more

I called to get some info on an oil change and brakes for my Mercedes. The lady with whom I spoke was pleasant and knowledgeable. The prices she shared were not much lower than the Dealership. I thanked her and decided to look around a bit more. Today, I called back to schedule an appointment to bring my car in. The lady whom answered the phone did not sound like the lady with whom I spoke last week. Today seemed less professional. When trying to lock down a time for Thursday morning, I was told with a laugh, "they would all be at a car show Wednesday so she expected the team to be late arriving Thursday. I hesitantly asked for 10 AM. She laughingly said "10ish?", further enforcing they would be out late the night before my appointment. I thanked her for her time and ended the call. The impression she gave me was that the team would be dragging in Thursday morning after a late night out ( hungover? ). I chose not to risk bringing my car in to this shop based on this concern. Perhaps this was nothing more than an employee not considering how her words and demeanor could be perceived, or it was transparency in they way they operate. I cannot be sure, but I choose not to take a chance on the latter. read more

Very rarely do you find a repair shop that goes out of its way to serve. These guys are the kind of service you used to get from the local garage in your small town. They fixed the issues on my 300D and my S500. I had been quoted on the latter $3200 at the dealer and they did it for a 1/3rd. I saw several motors being rebuilt from scratch when I was there. They do great work, and I don't feel like I'm being yanked around like I do at other service shops. They work with me without being pushy or greedy. Their biggest problem is that their hours suck. They don't get to work until 9:00, so dropping off your car before work isn't really an option unless you work late hours or can juggle your schedule. They're also closed on Friday, so they're only available 4 days a week. I understand why they'd want to work short hours and weeks, but it's really inconvenient for their customers. read more

When I lived in Dallas, I looked around for the best M-B shop. Arthur's came highly recommended from other M-B owners. I took my 88 560SL there all the time during the 5 year period. (that sounds bad) He did an excellent job on the valve job, replaced a timing chain, and a few other items. I was always happy with the work, or I would not have gone back so many times. But, no matter what I brought my car in to get fixed, he always said that the problem with what ever was wrong was the result of my wire wheels. Bill V read more

The WORST experience I've ever had with an auto/body shop - period. Arthur's kept my 1972 Mercedes 250c for over THREE YEARS. I brought the car to Arthur's to be restored because of their good reviews at the time - that was April 2012. I was told that it would take 6 months to repair and restore the car if they took their time. The car needed minor engine work, minor body work, and paint. After 6 months passed I called to ask if the car was ready. I was told it needed a new rear quarter panel - I said do what you have to do to complete the car. About three months later I called and was told it needed windshield/back window seals. Every time I called they said the car needed something else, I expected Arthur's to contact me when the car "needed" something else or it was completed. Apparently they let the car sit for weeks on end until I called and I was then told it "needed" something else. I specifically remember at one point asking "when was someone going to call me and let me know that the car needed something??" To make a very long story short - I moved to Houston within that three year time frame and when I was finally told the car was ready (June 2015) I asked repeatedly if the car was road worthy and could make the trip to Houston. Over and over I was told yes. Needless to say, the car died on I-35 the very day I picked it up from Arthur's. The car never even made it out of Dallas. I am truly shocked at their unbelievable disregard for a customer and complete lack of professionalism, not to mention the outright false claim regarding the car being road-worthy. read more

I was referred to Arthur's Mercedes 11/15 and thought the experience would be good, honest and with fair pricing. NOT SO! My Mercedes needed an oil change and the front end had sank down (indicating a leak problem with the front air struts system). After dropping the car off I was told $1100 parts per strut (x 2) plus 3 -4 hours labor (x2) = sub total of $2580. plus tax. OUCH!! I was also verbally quoted $230 for an oil change. REALLY? I inquired as to whether both struts ACTUALLY NEEDED REPLACING (thinking this unlikely) and was told they both frequently failed together- almost always. After getting that suspicious feeling we check with the Plano Mercedes dealer - they quoted me about the same ($200 MORE) For both struts but THEY said it was UNLIKELY BOTH NEEDED REPLACING - and the oil change was $130. NOT $230!! The dealer was actually cheaper since they were willing to provide me a free new Mercedes loaner for Fri - thru Monday pm!! after calling around - I had it towed to Europa cars shop on Preston - they fixed the strut for $ 850 (total) and did the oil change for $100 (w/tax). Arthur's also gave me a bit of a hard time by phone and would not provide a written quote when requested. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE BUT - I MISSED A BULLET! read more
