How far Thea has come! I'm so proud of her! Thank you Monica and Jessica for being the best art teachers, for being patient and kind hearted. I think of you as friends, and I appreciate all you have taught her. You guys are the best! Thank you for everything have a beautiful day

I absolutely love this studio. It's such a gem and all the teachers are kind and talented. My daughter has been going for 1 year already. I kid you not, I'll drop all other activities before I drop this one. She truly loves art and is always so happy to go even though her schedule can be all over the place. Everything is so simple to report an absence and request a make-up. Their guidelines are very reasonable what with only allowing 2 excused absences per month. My daughter LOVED THE summer camp as well. I highly recommend Art Steps.

It's been two months since my kid started her art lessons here and we are very happy about her progress and she is looking forward to attend the classes every week. They use different medium to help the kids to learn and they also have a lot of different sample drawings for kids to follow. They offer trial class, you can sign up online to check their time and try it first. The classes also provide all the art materials, which makes the parents life easier. Prior to every class, the teachers set up their stations for them. And there are two teachers at my kids class and walk around to help them during the class. Class size is not big, which I think they get enough attentions from the teachers. They also have some seasonal fun programs like the Halloween clay character making program...if your kids are not so much into drawing or they don't want to have a long commitment of art classes, the seasonal programs are great.

Pre-COVID I purchased an intro package of classes for my teenager and when the shutdowns happened I still had classes unused left. I contacted their offices and was told I would be receiving a refund (amount $60). After a year and a half of back and forth phone calls and being strung along, I am finally writing this review. I understand that they were closed and everything got delayed or pushed back. However, their finance team kept assuring me I'd receive a refund. I normally wouldn't have pursued this for so long but they kept telling me "next week... next week" I am officially giving up on the refund (maybe they'll surprise me) and writing this review so others are warned regarding their lack of follow through on their end. Apart from all of this, the two classes that my teen completed were fine. Wish this location the best and hope they can communicate with their finance office about their lack of integrity and completion on promised they've made.

Question: do you want to instill confidence in art AND life in your child? If your answer is yes…read morethen this is NOT the place to go. Why? I sat in on my daughter's introductory art class and saw why some of the artwork looks so good. It's not your child's artwork! I watched the "instructor" go back to one child over and over again to paint her picture for her, one time spending ten minutes at her station painting her picture FOR her. The poor child repeatedly asked for help throughout the class because she had no idea what she was doing. How could she with someone else painting her picture?! Not to mention the fact that she will go home and show off her beautiful artwork to her parents who I am sure will be astonished and proud but she will never be able to recreate that kind of art again because someone else painted it for her. Is that confidence building? Hardly. Others including my child were the recipient of this teaching style. My daughter did their free introductory class which is great because you get a chance to feel the place out before you buy ($195/month!!!). The free intro class is good. They've got two aides for seven children. Also good. However, the girl "teaching" my daughter asked her to look at her picture and see what looks "wrong" about it. Next she told her this part "looked funny" when critiquing her imperfectly drawn circle (she's seven). These are not encouraging words for a child! Or anyone else for that matter. Next she proceeds to ERASE my daughters work and re-draw the whole picture to show her how to do it "right". Isn't art supposed to be about creativity and the artist's interpretation??? Isn't the best way to learn by doing it yourself??? "Imperfections" often turn out to be masterpieces and I fear my daughter's frustration and doubt in not creating perfection the next time we draw. My daughter does not need to attach words such as "wrong" and "looks funny" to her own work or anyone else's; THIS IS HOW YOU SQUELCH CREATIVITY. I guess if you're into that sort of thing and want your kids to learn to be ashamed of any "imperfections" then this place is right for you. I can tell you right now though that this is not where we will be spending our money! Not a good way to foster creativity!

Ms. Wonju and instructors are extremely knowledgeable and genuinely committed to helping each student succeed. They provided thoughtful guidance and really understood how to bring out my daughter's strengths. The program is very well structured and professional, which was especially helpful since my daughter began her portfolio preparation a bit later than most. The school created a clear plan tailored to the specific requirements of each college she was applying to, particularly for design majors, not just traditional art majors. With their support, my daughter was accepted into most of her top choice schools this year and received scholarships from every school she got into. And it truly reflects the quality of the program. I have two daughters, and based on the experience we had with my older one, I've already enrolled my younger one, who is currently a freshman. I had no idea what to expect or if I was going to be able to learn anything. On our first class, my son chose the art medium - sketching. By the end of the class, with Valerie's guidance, I had actually completed my first drawing; a light bulb! My son's project was a lot more involved and completed his drawing in three classes. He sketched a dog, and WOW!!! I've always receive complements on his 3rd grade school paintings (now in 8th grade) but Valerie really helped him tap into his talent. I later decided that I was more compelled to paint dramatic landscaped and started in acrylic then moved on to oil painting. I always felt that I had a natural appreciation for nature and loved to bask in its beauty; however, after taking this class, I've begun to notice colors in nature that I've never pick up on before; like, all of the purples, reds, blues, and variations of whites and greys in the clouds. I really appreciate Valerie's teaching style. She is very patient yet is able to push the student out of their comfort zone with grace. The learning environment is comfortable and causal. Artists of all skill levels and ages are welcome and there is never a competitive spirit. Only appreciation and encouragement.
