My son has been coming here for a year, and we decided not to enroll for the coming year. Is this…read moreplace not good? No, depends on your perspective on what good tutoring, or an good after school program should be. Below is my honest and unbiased opinions for your consideration. Pro: they do have capable tutors like Mr Andrew, Ms St Claire, but they are most effective on a one on one session which will cost you extra. The school always accommodates. Again, fees are on top of the regular tuition. Decent Art, Music, Foreign language Classes. Con: This school is not run by professionals with education background, trainings etc. The philosophy is that of Cramming the kids with class after class, and little room to spare. No playground, limited spaces for personal space. My son's biggest complaint was the loud noise in the so call homework room. Since all kids, who aren't enrolled in specialty classes are all in the room. So you guess it. Chaos... Lord of the Flies, and most of them are starving... Now if your child is struggling in school, and it is desperately to catch up? This might be the school for you. It is basically school 2.0. I can see kids from China, ESL , getting the extra boost here. Your kid will get improved grade, but essentially he is in school from 7 to 7. I guess that is a roar of the Tiger Mom thing, and just not this Asian Dad, but I never made it to Med school, so my opinion doesn't matter. Wish you all the best.

We are a returning family and had a great experience last summer, which is why this was so…read moredisappointing. This summer, we learned that our daughter was disciplined by being made to stand against the wall as a "time out" for running around the center. This was never disclosed to us as part of the school's discipline policy, and we were not informed at the time it happened, we only found out because our daughter mentioned it. Even more concerning, our daughter told us another child was made to stand against the wall as well, and was reportedly told "who told you you could sit down" when he tried to sit. We don't know every detail of that second incident, but if true, it points to a culture of discipline that relies on humiliation and intimidation rather than positive guidance. We've reported this formally and are waiting on a response. A call was promised today (7/2/26) however, I have not received a call yet. Until we see real accountability and a change in disciplinary practices, we can't recommend this school anymore.

This review is my experience as a parent with a child previously enrolled in the preschool program…read moreat the Brea, CA campus. She was in room 15. I want to start by saying how much I loved Ms. Rolon and Mrs. Calabrese. They were always so welcoming and genuine. My daughter started in July, feeling confident this was the right fit. However, that quickly changed. My daughter's teacher (who I will leave unnamed) right off the bat, my husband and I felt didn't like my daughter, and my daughter felt it. High-strung energy and frantic energy are not good for young ones who are nervous to start. Not welcoming, and immediately made her out to be a "BAD" kid. I think it ruined her first preschool experience. Backing up, my daughter was born 4 months before the pandemic broke out and had never been in daycare or school, which was explained when we enrolled her. I was very transparent about everything when touring and signing up. Mrs. Calabrese, who gave us a tour, and who sold us. She was absolutely wonderful & genuine. Mrs. Calabrese left shortly after my daughter started so we relied on some of the staff and teachers. Which didn't provide us with much comfort. I strongly believe if your child doesn't fit the mold of their concept of a perfect child, there will be red flags that they will not welcome you back, soon. Not every child is the same and they did nothing to help with my daughter's social integration troubles. Which by the way, is completely normal and even more so since she is a Covid baby. More and more I researched and spoke to other preschools, Covid babies are showing delays since the world stopped for 2 years. I am not making excuses for my child and will be the first one to admit she is strong-willed and determined. Those attributes are wonderful if channeled the right way. This school is not for your child if your child shows any type of out-of-the-mold behavior. The classroom was absolute chaos, my daughter's diaper was always dirty picking her up, the wrong clothing was sent home often, and never once did I hear anything positive about my daughter doing well. Furthermore, we got a week's notice that she wasn't welcome back the next month, we were told we should keep an eye on some behaviors & get her assessed as she might have something wrong with her. Since then I have gotten 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions from qualified individuals, and think this is ridiculous & untrue. You have no idea, how horrible this felt, and I hope was a true intention on their end but I doubt it. What really bothered me was on her last day, we walked in to put her lunch bag away in her cubby and her name was already taken down from her cubby. It broke my heart because it proved how much they wanted her gone. Luckily, my daughter isn't old enough to understand it, but if she were older that would have been really awful to explain. Now, we have found a fabulous preschool (with the same ratio btw), and my daughter has made a full 360. The teacher is patient, loves kids, and really wants them to do well. Every child is DIFFERENT! Do better Heights Christian. Run this as a school, not a business!

If the following statement doesn't convince you to choose KinderCare then I don't know what will:…read moreMy biggest regret in my son's life so far and maybe mine as well is not enrolling him at KinderCare when he first started preschool at 18 months old. Instead, my son went to another local preschool for two years and we're all still traumatized from that experience (I won't name them here but definitely check out my review on them and avoid them at all costs.) The reason for such a dramatic statement is pretty simple. The staff at KinderCare don't expect perfection and will not make you or your child feel bad for misbehavior. In the two years my son spent at the other preschool we quickly realized he was labeled the "bad kid" everyone wanted out. And at 3 and a half years old when they did effectively disenroll him, my son started at KinderCare and we noticed immediate differences, like him not crying and screaming about going into the classroom and the staff being willing to work with us and a behavior therapist we got a referral for through our insurance. And while he had bad days and was far from perfect, their response to those moments was nothing like at the other place and, most importantly, the teachers and director at KinderCare never made us feel bad or inept as parents. I never dreaded talking to my son's teachers and the director about a rough day like I did at the other place. They never called us demanding our son be picked up early after misbehaving or schedule countless condescending meetings with us about his behavior like the other place did. The difference was truly night and day. There are a few people I'd like to highlight that made my son's 10 months at KinderCare such a blessing and pleasant experience: 1.) Ms. Jenn: I knew from when I first called inquiring about if they have room that Ms. Jenn was a great and compassionate leader. She was willing to accommodate the behavior therapist we hired to help my son with some struggles that were probably exacerbated at the other place and in the rare instances he was sent to her office to cool down it never felt punitive or belittling like it did before. My son clearly loved Ms. Jenn and always went out of his way to say hi or bye to her at pickup/drop off. I'll never forget how she read books with him when he was hesitant at drop off on his second or third day. 2.) Ms. Naira: the perfect combination of firm and loving, my son bonded with her more than any other preschool teacher he's ever had. She was so sweet and good to him and so good about keeping us informed on his progress and working with us and the behavior therapist to help him thrive. She was so patient with him and so giving as well, frequently letting my son take home little gifts from the "mystery box" and such. We could feel that she genuinely loved and cared about our son, and that was a new feeling for us after our prior experience. 3.) Ms. Hannah and Ms. Anya: the other two teachers in my son's class, who he also liked very much. While we mostly dealt with Ms. Naira because of drop off and pickup times, Ms. Hannah and Ms. Anya were also great about working with us to help my son grow and thrive. (I also want to give a special shout-out to my daughter's teachers so far: Ms. Taylor , Ms. Getsemani, Ms. Saray and Ms. Michelle. While her needs aren't as involved as my son's, all of them have taken such great care of her as well.) And now my son is off to TK but we will all miss KinderCare very much and hope to be back for the summers, at least while my daughter is still there. But I mean it when I say that maybe my biggest regret in life is not having KinderCare be our only preschool. It goes without saying I cannot recommend Ms. Jenn and her team enough and hope you will choose them for your childcare/preschool needs.

Well I'd like to take a break from Hot Dog writing for a moment and tell you about Eye Level. Last year when my daughter was finishing 2nd grade, I felt the school had met their common core goals by mid April and was just sitting out the clock until June. Homework stopped coming home and days were wasted. My friend had been sending his daughter to Eye Level in Huntington Beach for over a year and was very happy with the results between public school and Eye Level once a week. He did all the research into Kumon vs Eye Level and from what I understand the biggest difference is the teacher involvement. This Anaheim Hills Eye Level location is very well run by a friendly lady named Chris. Chris did a placement exam with my daughter for over an hour, then explained what areas she needed more work on. The biggest complaint I have about common core in the public school, is that they kind of just check the box when a kid passes a test and move on, assuming the child will retain that passed skill forever without practicing it again. Well the brain doesn't work like that, you need constant repetition or you'll forget. Eye Level workbooks provide plenty of practice on skills until they have truly mastered them. Each kid works at their own pace and class size is small (usually no more than 5) so they can get plenty of help from the teacher when necessary. The teachers are adults and have teaching experience in their subjects, so you won't get any part time high school students here. Each kid gets a backpack and folder to keep their homework in, so as to keep it separate from regular school. The homework assignments are geared for them to be able to do it by themselves. As such, I never have to fight with my daughter about doing her homework. The parent is asked to look over it, but not correct it. Any mistakes will be corrected in class that way the Eye Level teachers know what the kid needs more work on. I've had a few other parents ask me, why pay for Eye Level, when you can find similar teaching resources online and work with your kids at home. Well, when my wife and I have to teach our daughter, it's World War III. She fights us over everything. We are her parents and it's hard for her to see us as anything but the person who she never wants to be wrong in front of. Thus we have conflict. But she seems to be very polite to her teachers at Eye Level, and willing to take instruction from them. Now that we've started 3rd grade, I can tell that my daughter came in ahead of the game and is easily doing her multiplication and division, while some of the other kids are struggling with it. Chris knew that would be a key area of the common core for 3rd grade and spent plenty of time working on it this summer. It seems to have paid off. Chris has done a nice job making the Eye Level group seem like a community. She often plans fun nights, where on Friday night the kids will come in for pizza and games, while the parents can use it to grab some dinner and make a date night out of it. It's win/ win and my daughter always wants to go. We've been doing Math and English class every week for 6 months now, and are very happy with Eye Level. I also believe it has given my daughter some extra confidence that she will do well in school.
