Check in was super easy and parking is easy right on the property. I easily sent her an email to book. The views are really gorgeous, overlooking the reservoir and Catskill mountains. Can't beat it if you go in October and catch foliage ! It's actually closer to NYC than some other places in the Valley. We stayed in the Meadow Suite which has a spacious bathroom and super comfortable bed. Anne Marie provides wine glasses and an opener. Also appreciated the space heater because some nights were chilly. I believe there is a hot tub if you rent the other suite. Anne Marie gave us some firewood to lit a fire one night, the property has a fire bowl, and pavilion where you can eat a great breakfast. We got breakfast one day - Anne Marie delivered that and coffee right outside our door. My husband had a delicious farm egg omelette with sautéed veggies and melted cheese, along with chicken sausage and toast. She prepared a crafty apple French toast for me with raisin cinnamon bread and chicken sausage. Yum yum yum. She's very accommodating, but definitely get the French toast! In Mid Oct, it was about $200 a night per stay. Definitely recommend this if in the area! We hung around Big Indian, Phonecia and did activities up in Hunter Mountain. Woodstock is also very nearby.

It was, as expected, the most relaxing and fun few days.... And was definitely needed after our big day. Anne Marie is a wonderful host, and her stuffed blueberry French toast is the stuff of legend. There are plenty of places for hiking, antiquing, tubing, eating, or anything else your heart could desire relatively nearby, and Anne Marie will provide you with recommendations that do not disappoint no matter what you want to do. We have only stayed in the reservoir suite, but I'm sure the other suites are equally amazing. I can't recommend Ashokan Dreams enough if you're looking for a relaxing stay at a charming place with unbelievable views of the mountains and reservoir right through your window. But something about being here during winter was...magical. High class, intimate, romantic place for your partner and you to have a quiet getaway. The bar has fun cocktails both in the mansion and at the pavilion. The food was PHENOMENAL. My favorite was the truffle fries. They actually used real shaved truffle on top instead of just truffle oil like a lot of other places, so I appreciate the commitment to the craft. Complimentary breakfast was *chefs kiss*. Fun night time hangout at the fire pits with s'mores and brick oven pizza all night. I need to come back and stay in those cabins, I stayed in the mansion and it was the best sleep I've had in months. But you know what the stand out feature was? The staff. From the greeters, to the bartenders, to the management, they really made you feel special. Efficient, attentive, warm and welcoming. The hotel claimed to have emailed me but I had no record of any attempt for at least a month before our stay. The hotel never called. the check-in manager couldn't have been more officious or less sympathetic. The manager never had the decency to talk to us. The hotel did get us a room in a more downscale hotel and comped us for it. Still it was a terrible and unprofessional experience.

We stumbled on the Inn at the Ridge through some Google searching. We only spent two nights, Friday and Saturday, so we were treated to Sal's weekend cooking. Easily among the best food at a B&B that we've ever had. When I booked, I didn't realize that I had booked the one room with a disconnected bathroom. Yes, it's private, but downstairs. Since the Inn wasn't completely full, they offered to relocate us to another open room, we didn't ask, they just suggested it. The house is old, like real old, so expect some quirks like wide creaky floors etc. The beds were quiet though, which was the important thing. Each room is uniquely decorated. The Inn is a nice distance from busy areas but not so far as to be a hardship. It's extremely close to Angry Orchard's Innovation cider mill, a state park with great trails, and even a little college town. I could probably go on, but Yelp's review editor is giving me issues. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Our room was very comfortable with a king-sized bed. The location was perfect - close to Minnewaska state park, as well as several nearby towns and a few good restaurants. The breakfasts were the highlight of the experience! One of the hosts is a CIA-trained chef and he made fabulous food for us - chocolate-stuffed french toast, a great frittata, and more. They serve breakfast at a communal table, which is nice for getting to talk to the other guests there. We would definitely stay here again.

I saw all kinds of animals that I would never see back home: two black bear, a family of wild turkeys, deer, chipmunks, little baby bunnies and a mommy bunny, a bat which somehow got into one of the buildings, all kinds of birds, and a little tiny mouse. :) I went swimming in the pool at the spa. I couldn't detect any chlorine, which was REALLY NICE (side note: NYC public/gym pools are overloaded with chlorine). I wonder if it was treated with salt water? Not sure, but it was a pleasure to swim in. So much fun! The spa is absolutely beautiful. I had an AMAZING massage by Sandra. So therapeutic. I also stayed in a lovely room. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Also, and more importantly, I slept like a baby. The bed and linens were super comfy. Downstairs, in the dining room, I enjoyed delicious vegan meals. Heavenly! I'm not sure if my experience was unique, or if the culture attracts the kind of people I met, but I actually became acquainted with some of the visitors. But I have a feeling if we'd been unable or asked ahead they would have picked us up with a golf cart. As it is, we rode the loaner bikes they had outside of the lobby on our way back. Note adjust the seat to be higher or lower- it's easy. Our suite was very spacious and part of the Old Lodge. There's a nice creek flowing out back and we sat on our little balcony while we had coffee. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the relative privacy. Yes the rugs and the countertops/shower/tubs should be upgraded. (I think there's a newer section of the Emerson so ask). As it stands we were pretty happy with our stay. We had family in other rooms and paid about $500/night for ours.
