From the moment he began, I could feel that his skilled, intuitive hands knew exactly what I needed. Tight muscles loosened, knots melted away, and I was filled with a deep sense of relief. The music was different from the usual calming playlist -- instead, his playlist seemed to align with what my body needed, like everything was moving together in sync. Jason seemed to sense exactly where I needed attention and before I knew it, the session gently morphed into something more like an energy healing ceremony. It's hard to describe, but afterwards, I felt cleaned out -- energetically and physically. My body felt light and I physically moved easily, but more surprisingly, I was deeply content, and at peace. Can't beat it if you go in October and catch foliage ! It's actually closer to NYC than some other places in the Valley. We stayed in the Meadow Suite which has a spacious bathroom and super comfortable bed. Anne Marie provides wine glasses and an opener. Also appreciated the space heater because some nights were chilly. I believe there is a hot tub if you rent the other suite. Anne Marie gave us some firewood to lit a fire one night, the property has a fire bowl, and pavilion where you can eat a great breakfast. We got breakfast one day - Anne Marie delivered that and coffee right outside our door. My husband had a delicious farm egg omelette with sautéed veggies and melted cheese, along with chicken sausage and toast. She prepared a crafty apple French toast for me with raisin cinnamon bread and chicken sausage. Yum yum yum. She's very accommodating, but definitely get the French toast! In Mid Oct, it was about $200 a night per stay. Definitely recommend this if in the area! We hung around Big Indian, Phonecia and did activities up in Hunter Mountain. Woodstock is also very nearby.

There are plenty of places for hiking, antiquing, tubing, eating, or anything else your heart could desire relatively nearby, and Anne Marie will provide you with recommendations that do not disappoint no matter what you want to do. We have only stayed in the reservoir suite, but I'm sure the other suites are equally amazing. I can't recommend Ashokan Dreams enough if you're looking for a relaxing stay at a charming place with unbelievable views of the mountains and reservoir right through your window. And Chris in the kitchen is something else, hands down one of the best chefs I have had the pleasure of chatting with, and if he offered, I'd be at his table every night for dinner. Another saving grace is that the venue itself doubles as an airbnb for you and your loved ones. You rent the house for the weekend, and it has 8 bedrooms to divide amongst your bridal party. It really helped me to let loose on my day knowing that my bed was right upstairs and that the Spillian staff would handle the cleanup. They also hosted our rehearsal dinner and morning after brunch, and it lessened the load to not have to plan two separate events with different vendors. Now let's talk about the day itself! I didn't have to lift a finger. My husband and I brought along decorations and signage, and expected to have to do some organizing ourselves. But the Spillian staff were there Friday night when we were unpacking asking what everything was and where we wanted it, and it was packed back up for us by Sunday morning. On Saturday, they went to work putting everything together for us. It was beautifully orchestrated by Spillian's coordinator, Sam. We can't thank her enough for making sure that our rainy day wedding went so smoothly, we barely even noticed that we had to shift our plans within 30 minutes! Originally, the whole affair was meant to be hosted outside, but persistent rain (it is the Catskills after all) had us moving the reception indoors. They had the whole event setup outside and moved it all inside in record time. By the time photos were done everything was set for dinner. They even offer a late night bonfire if that's your thing, and thankfully we were still able to light it in the rain. Overall 35/10 Have your wedding here, stop questioning it.

The spa had lockers and long bathrobes available. We walked outside quite aways to get to the spa from our suite. But I have a feeling if we'd been unable or asked ahead they would have picked us up with a golf cart. As it is, we rode the loaner bikes they had outside of the lobby on our way back. Note adjust the seat to be higher or lower- it's easy. Our suite was very spacious and part of the Old Lodge. There's a nice creek flowing out back and we sat on our little balcony while we had coffee. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the relative privacy. Yes the rugs and the countertops/shower/tubs should be upgraded. (I think there's a newer section of the Emerson so ask). As it stands we were pretty happy with our stay. We had family in other rooms and paid about $500/night for ours.

Since the Inn wasn't completely full, they offered to relocate us to another open room, we didn't ask, they just suggested it. The house is old, like real old, so expect some quirks like wide creaky floors etc. The beds were quiet though, which was the important thing. Each room is uniquely decorated. The Inn is a nice distance from busy areas but not so far as to be a hardship. It's extremely close to Angry Orchard's Innovation cider mill, a state park with great trails, and even a little college town. I could probably go on, but Yelp's review editor is giving me issues. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
