Applehead Recording & Production - Poster for Rich Robinson shows at studio

Spent an incredible weekend at Applehead Recording Studio for a private recording session with Rich…read moreRobinson of The Black Crowes. Defiantly lucky to experience 3 days of watching the private recording and spending time with the band. Was able to sit in the control room and watch the process of how the recording end of an LP is made. Good times and was able to chat with Weird Eddie Harsch of the keyboard player of The Black Crowes. He passed away a few months later so very grateful to spend some time with him and hear his beautiful fingers play the ivory keys one last time. The studio is not far from city of Woodstock and has a huge field for parking. Looked like it had living quarters for musicians recording. Great place and really cherish my time I spent here at The Studio!

We came to this beautifully crafted studio to see Team Sleep. All of us are big Deftones fans and some of us bigger Team sleep fans. Approximately after a ten year hiatus, Team sleep would play here and I am just happy I was a part of it. We spent the entire day interacting with the band and having the opportunity of what it's like to create a record. No words can do justice on how cool it was to witness the workflow first-hand. It was spectacular and unlike anything I have experienced. Michael was an awesome....awesome cat! The band was amazing. The people we met were cool homies. Sharing stories at a bonfire was surreal. Hell I got the chance to speak to my favorite musician about my favorite thing in the world, wrestling. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Spending the day here with amazing friends and musicians was just crazy. This studio has a very special place in my heart. Now, Then, Forever. One love.

Steve was tremendously helpful with the technical setup, but also gave some important suggestions along the way which made the three sessions much easier than expected. Within about 4-5 hours after the last session, I received a zip file of mp3's of all of the recordings. That was much quicker than expected. Getting to the studio was wonderfully relaxing, and the studio property is impressive, on a hilltop, set far away from a country road. Steve is very personable and relaxed, and he helped set a good tone for the sessions. We'll be returning in December for a second session. I can't wait!

Low stress, high quality, and super affordable. Seriously, like crazy affordable. It's the perfect place for bands on a budget who are still looking for that professional, big sound. Steve's a fantastic producer/engineer, very flexible with how you want to approach the record too. Want to record everything live and get that gritty authentic sound? sure. Want to layer everything individually and shoot for perfection? no problem. Driving from the city with a bunch of people and need a place to stay for the weekend? There's guest rooms, comfy beds, and a kitchen for cooking meals. The only downside I can think of is that this place is pretty new so it probably won't stay incognito forever. So I'd take advantage now before everyone else wises up and the prices go up to reflect the product they're putting out.
