My ongoing issues with ARS. My home is 3.5 years old with an ARS installed unit. The first year we had refrigerant added twice. At a year and a half it was discovered that the A Coil was leaking the entire time and had to have that replaced. 2 weeks ago AC stopped working and it was $250 for a Capacitor, I was then encouraged to buy the service package so I did. After that $500 7 days later the AC stopped again. This time the variable speed fan is bad. I was told to pay in advance and they would be out the next day. I now have spent over $1000,00 in 7 days. We have been without AC for 4 days, I have called multiple times to get a temporary unit and no one calls me back. I told a parts manager about my wife, 3 kids, and pets and she couldn't care less. She said she would call me right back and never has. I have tried to speak to management and gotten nowhere. Since when is leaving a family in 100 degree weather without AC Excellent Customer Service like their motto says????? read more

WATCH OUT ALL THEY DO IS LIE. If I could give them no stars I would. Last year our A/C that we bought from them about 6 or so years ago stop working. We called a tech to come look at it and they did. That when they told us that we need a whole new A/C unit. At that time we didn't have the money that the sale person quoted us to replace the unit. That whole summer we sweated to almost death. This year as we prepare for the summer we were about to call them and get a new unit when we decided to get a second opinion and to see what other companies charge as well. Long story short the only thing wrong with our unit is that it had a hole in the coolant line. It was replaced and the A/C works well as new. read more

One of our 2 HVAC units had been working intermittently for a few months. Half of our building was the correct temperature while the other side was either too hot or too cold depending on the weather outside. We had ARS evaluate the problem and they convinced us that we need to replace the entire unit. The unit cost almost $20,000!! Reluctantly, we agreed and had them install the new unit on the roof. Ironically, by the time we had the unit installed, temperatures were pretty mild outside so we never really got to test the new unit. That all changed in November when it got unusually cold. We had the same problem that we had before we bought the new unit! We called ARS to come and fix their brand new unit and we could not believe what they said to us. The new unit is working, the other one is not working. These people replaced our good HVAC and left the broken one alone! We spoke to the manager and he tried to convince us that we were crazy and the unit they fixed was the one that needed to be fixed. Like we don't work in this building everyday and don't know which part of the office is either too hot or too cold! I would encourage anyone that needs HVAC work to go elsewhere. Do NOT use ARS! Scam Artists. A couple years back I had a wiring issue with my HVAC system. Called them in and they switched off my furnace in the attic. They came down stairs and stated that my coil was completely clogged and my blower was dead. Quoted me $7000 for a new unit or $3000 for one that would only last a year. Called BellCow for a second opinion and they informed me that someone flipped the power switch on my two upstairs furnaces and that there was NO issues with my system. 3 years later and NO issue! I am extremely disappointed and frankly appalled at my recent experience with ARS over this past week after I called them regarding an issue with the blower on my HVAC system. The technician who showed up to diagnose the issue tried his best to scare me into replacing my entire HVAC system that is less than 9 years old. Things he did to try and achieve this: - Quote me over $4K for replacing my blower motor and the inducer motor... claiming the inducer motor was "overamping" - Try to dissuade me from considering repairs by saying a replacement motor usually take many weeks to source and even months in some cases. For some reason he could quote me made up dollar amounts for parts in a minute, but when it came to the ability to source the required parts, everything was hand-wavy and vague. - Conveniently, the made-up quote which was produced in record speed had a high enough dollar amount that it provided justification for recommending replacing the entire system. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of agreeing to a no-cost quote for replacement which resulted in the ARS sales manager spending 1.5 hours at and outside my house till well past 7.30pm just to make up numbers for a quote that shouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes to make. I called a local HVAC shop the very next day and their technician came over and as I suspected, debunked almost everything the ARS technician had told me. He also informed me that ARS technicians usually get commissions for getting customers to purchase and install new HVAC units via ARS, which results in an extremely perverse conflict-of-interest from any customer's point of view. The local shop was able to source a replacement blower motor and install it the very next day for under $1K... less than a quarter of the quote provided to me by the ARS technician. I suppose this is what ends up happening when a company gets big enough and filled with middle-managers and sales people who need to meet quotas and earn commissions from sales. You would think that a company would try to earn their customer's business and trust by being honest and doing good work, but that does not seem to be the case with ARS. My advice to everyone is to look up smaller, local HVAC shops in the area on Yelp with high reviews and stick with them. They are usually small enough that they don't have the cruft of managers and sales people working actively against their customer's interests and they take pride in the work they do and earning their customer's business by doing good work at reasonable rates and without any attempts to upsell their customers. read more

I've been calling ARS Raleigh/Durham since 5:50PM this afternoon. I took them over an hour to agree to even set up an appointment for me, after being transferred 3+ times to different employee voicemail boxes and bounced between the Raleigh dispatch & Durham dispatch as they tried to decide who was more responsible for completing the repair. When I finally spoke to the dispatch manager @ Raleigh at 6:52PM, I was informed that a technician was being sent out as an emergency call, and that I could expect a call 45-minutes before he arrived. She stated that "because it is an emergency, that should be pretty soon." Fast forward to 8:40PM and after my first call is transferred again to another voicemail and calling the office back, I was finally informed that my appointment was made for tomorrow by 11:00AM, and that they would "try really hard to get someone out tonight". I suggested firmly that this was unacceptable, and that I would contact a competitor to get immediate service and send them the bill (my unit is less than a year old in a new construction home) and I was threatened with a full void of my warranty on the HVAC system if I chose to let another company touch the unit. I am now waiting at 9PM for a call to find out if I will or will not have the A/C in my home working before sometime tomorrow morning instead of sleeping in a comfortable, 72 degree room. Perhaps ARS should stop answering the phone with "How can I provide you with excellent service today" if they don't intend to live up to that promise. read more

Overall, I've been satisfied much of the work ARS has provided Ordinarily, I don't write reviews but this is my first chance to do so as I've been in hospital until now. In early September I requested a service check on my hot water heater and water softening system. The system uses salt and my receptacle was low. I was due to go to hospital for a medical condition and could not do any lifting so I requested that they bring 4 bags when the came to check and service the system. I was surprised when the technician arrived to learn that there's really no maintenance prevention for the softening system but ARS still gave me a service charge me for coming to my house. I was even more surprised when I was given a bill for $155.80 for 2 hours of labor, $37.40 for the four 40lb bags, $38.00 for state tax, $16.00 for "fees", and $99.00 for a diagnosis plumbing trip fee. All together the total was $478.00. I didn't expect ARS to do the work for free but I wasn't expecting them to charge almost $500 for bringing me 4 bags of salt. This review reflects recent warranty service at our property in association on 7/21 and 7/22/2020. This was the 5th time we've had ARS to our house in the past 4 months of living in this house and the technicians reflected lack of competency each time. With the 7/21 visit I waited well past the time window given, the technician was here for 10 minutes and said he had to call the supervisor and would send someone would have to come back the next day to do the work. On 7/22 the technician came to change a cold air return grate and again demonstrated a lack of competence by damaging our hardwood floors. It was obvious he didn't know what he was doing and allowed the grate to fall from the second story to the first which not only caused damage, but could have severely hurt anyone below. He apparently reported this to his supervisor, but no one ever called to apologize for this negligence or see to the floor being fixed. The previous visits for ARS were to correct improper wiring and leveling of two of our HVAC systems. I absolutely would not recommend this company for any HVAC work. read more

I had them come out on 3/16 and not only missed the schedule, but told me I needed nearly $15k of work done. I paid for the service call and then, after the tech left, my upstairs system stopped working (which it was before he got here). I had them come back out and they said it was electrical resulting in $320. So, over the last few days, the collected about $450 from me and I still go.....hmmmmm. So today, I had a 2nd quote done on the HVAC system and they said I don't have any issues. I'm getting a 3rd opinion tomorrow and can you "fraud"? See you in...... read more

n all my 26 years of home ownership, never have I encountered a company as wicked, dishonest, incompetent, and greedy as ARS Rescue Rooters of Raleigh, NC. A company like this should not exist in the United States, with all due respect. My nightmare with ARS Rescue Rooters Plumbing began with an innocent call I made on December 3, 2020, to a company representing itself on google.com as "Devon and Sons Plumbing of Chapel Hill, NC." I was looking for help to repair a leaking faucet in my bathroom. "Devon and Sons Plumbing" does not indicate its property address street on the internet. It lists only a phone number as contact: (919) 298-8653. This was red-flag number one. At the appointed time, to my surprise, it was an ARS Rescue Rooters' van which pulled up in my driveway. That was another red-flag, and I immediately asked the ARS technician who knocked on my door about who it was that sent him to my house. He told me he was sent by "dispatcher." Was "Devon and Sons Plumbing" of unknown Chapel Hill address a dispatcher? The technician did not answer my question, but I was so desperate to repair the leaking shower faucet I ignored the red flag. What a big mistake it turned out to be. (The next day, I called to ask for clarification and "Devon and Sons Plumbing" instantly blocked my phone number and I could no longer reach it by phone.") The ARS plumbing technician proceeded to "inspect" my leaking shower and quoted an exorbitant price for the repair, way higher than anything any other plumber I knew had ever charged me for a similar job. However, in addition, he began to mount increasing pressure on me that the repair of the leaking shower valve was conditional upon my replacing the water pressure control in my house, for which he came up with a $450 price, telling a blatant lie to my face that my house has a high water pressure reading. I could not trust ARS Plumbing and the technician left. Later, however, I found out that during the process of dismantling my shower valve to "diagnose" the cause of the leak in the faucet the ARS technician had left the handle with a shrapnel which hurt two unsuspecting members of my family. The technician returned to my house and did replace the handle on Friday, December 11, only for me to find out on Saturday morning, December 12, that it turned out to be a fake handle which is not functional at all. Overall, my faucet is left now in a worse condition than it was before the visit of ARS Plumbing because I no longer can use it, and I am out a $59. 00 fee as well, plus the original shower handle which the ARS technician removed and took away with him. Every effort to have ARS Rescue Rooters plumbing to send someone back to fix the problem has been unsuccessful, making it impossible for me to turn on the hot water faucet in my bathroom. read more

After scheduling a routine check on my HVAC system, I was told the entire system needed to be replaced. Someone else came out later to provide an estimate. Over an hour after his arrival, I was quoted a price of over $8,000. I asked for a breakdown of what that price included because the exact same recommended system with the same warranty could be installed by another company for less than half of that price. The "salesman" became very defensive over being questioned about the cost. He told my mother more than once to "talk it over with her husband." I don't know what he had to do with anything as he wasn't even there. Apparently, women aren't capable of making decisions. It looks like this company has a track record of trying to take advantage of customers. I understand needing to make a profit, but that kind of mark-up is ridiculous. read more

Update: Day Two. ARS now claims they never extended our warranty due to the many times they have been out to fix a "new" system. I'm remembering what the tech in April told me, that every brand is the same, all made with cheap Chinese parts designed to break down quickly. After scheduling me for morning, then calling at 730am to tell me no, they will be out between 2-4, I had to last-minute cancel an appointment with a specialist, their rule is if you cancel last minute, you pay for it. Soak 1. Tech arrived at 5:30, told us the new system needs either a $300 part or a $1300 part. Warehouse probably doesn't have either. I have a hotel reservation for tomorrow for an important meeting out of town. If I don not cancel VERY soon I will be soaked also for a night in that room. Was told they'd call this morning. No call telling us about their warranty reversal or what is wrong with this machine. We called them, they are working on it... read more

I wish that l had taken the time to check out the reviews before hiring ARS. To say that this is the worst experience that l have had with any company is an understatement. The managers refused to return my calls. I contacted the corporate costumer service line and they weren't much help. Shay in the Raleigh office was of no assistance either. She is with quality control, but chose to believe a worker over me, until l offered to share the text messages which showed he was not telling the truth. The systems have stopped working twice since being installed less than 5 months ago. When l asked Shay about the delay in response, she explained that they were addressing issues with elderly customers. She couldn't explain why l was never asked about the lack of ac and its effect on elderly mother living with me. The units failed inspection and after showing up at the scheduled time to make the corrections, they told me that it was more involved and would need to come back the following week. After a discussion, they chose to complete the repair that day. My saving grace is that they offer to make things right or remove the units with full refund. Most likely they will be hearing from me in October to honor that offer. read more

Total scammers!! I had them come out to look at my AC and was told I needed a whole new unit. I was quoted $8500 and felt pressured to sign the paperwork and lock me in. This in itself was a red flag! It turned out to be just a $20 fix and my AC has been working just fine!! I was even told if I did actually need a new unit it would only have been a $5k unit for the same model. Always do your homework! read more

I'm currently very annoyed their their scheduling. I had a new water heater installed a few weeks ago, and no complaints with that process. However, they apparently need to schedule a QA inspection afterwards. They have no-showed twice on the agreed-upon time. The guy is supposedly on his way now. The first was yesterday. The window was 8-10, so I arrange to be late to work. Around 9:30 I call them to confirm he's still coming, and they said yes. Twenty minutes later I get a call saying "Woops, we forgot to put this on the books when we confirmed. Can you reschedule?" Annoyed that I needed to reschedule with work again, I arrange to have them come today since they don't do evening or weekend appointments. The person on the phone assured me I would be first on the list and to be ready promptly at 8. At 8:30 I call them, and they say "Woops, we forgot he had a meeting first thing. He's leaving shortly." In both cases, I had to call them to get updates on the schedule. In addition, with my current work schedule, it is very disruptive for me when they do not meet the agreed-upon appointments. read more

ARS Rescue Rooter has been the biggest waste of time and money. We have had 2 different technicians come out from THIS ONE company over the course of 3 years and serve us for both "preventive" and "repair". The first guy never caught the fact that the wiring was completely messed up upon building of our house. His report to us was that we needed to change the air filters more. We said, okay. LATER, we continued to have issues and more reports back was that everything was fine. Recently, we had another technician come out and finally diagnosed the wiring issue BUT low and behold we had a "leak in our evaporator coil". This was going to cost us over $1700 in both parts and labor. We were about to move forward with this but something told us to get another opinion. We sure did appreciate knowing why our set temperatures never seemed to be just right - but there is no leak in our coil. In fact, the coil we have is VERY unlikely to have a leak. We have broken thermostats. That is the issue among several other small problems. Seriously, the ring that we have been through between many different technicians and opinions and problems has been insane. Regardless, I will not use ARS again due to their lack of consistency, reliability and trust. read more

I had a spring maintenance done on my 2 HVAC systems on 5/25. Two weeks later, one of the systems broke. I contacted a different company to come out and they reported that it was a clogged drain, which should have been cleaned during the maintenance. I called 3 days in a row, leaving messages for the 'Concerns Dept' and a manager, neither of which ever returned my call. After calling again, I was able to get a refund for the maintenance that was not done on they system that broke. I then scheduled an appt for someone to come out and inspect the 2nd system to ensure those drains had been cleaned and were not clogged. No technician showed up for the appt, and no one called me. I called and asked to speak to a manager, and was told he had left for the day but would get a msg to call me. I then rescheduled for another morning appt, and on that day, they were 3 hrs late before calling me to say they were running behind schedule. I cancelled the appt and left another message for the manager, who still has not returned my call. It is laughable that the company answers the phone with "How may I provide you with exceptional service?" Let's be real...the service is non-existent on every level! read more

My air went out- they came out the next day and fixed it. Within a week my air conditioning went out again. They were not able to get me on the "emergency" schedule for FOUR days. I didn't hear from them until after 5pm on the day I was scheduled for. The third time I called them was when they explained that their emergency visits were scheduled at the end of the day after all the other appointments. They had NO sense of urgency or ownership that it was their fault for not really fixing my system the first time. Do not call them unless you want to waste $100. There are many other reliable options in Raleigh. read more

They are price gougers in my humble opinion and personal experience. ARS came by to look at toilet leaks, a new shower kit (I bought) and low water pressure in our new home we just bought. They spent 1.5hours here. The next day they came for an hour and said all done - no leaks. They charged us $1500!!! Stunned I paid but then put a stop on the check because of the absurdity. The next day TWO toilets leaked and one overflowed into the hallway. AND, I also still had low water pressure. I brought in another licensed plumber who fixed everything, gave us pressure etc. for $250.00 - spending 2 hours with us. ARS called us (Walter) who said they would put a lien on our house, and that they are a "national company" and NC law is in their side. I offered $500 (it was worth -0- given the subsequent leaks) to get them off my back, and Walter continued his threatening language. Not a great way to be welcomed to NC as a senior. read more

Avoid the ARS Rescue Rooter Pylon Drive, Raleigh, NC. They charge an exorbitant fee that will break the bank. They charged me $150 just to come to the house, $162 for labor, and I had to go to Home Depot and buy the parts myself! Do not deal with this company. You have been warned; my total bill for about 10 minutes of work after I went and bought the parts (and the part was cheap), was $324.00! Ridiculous price gouging from this company in my opinion. Had ARS out to install Nest thermostat.. $300.00 labor cost for less than hour. They replaced gas regulator.. $300.00 labor cost, so silly me I paid ARS for labor of one man over $200.00 per hour/ labor over $600.00 less than three hours in my home. My fault. Let's just say an appointment window doesn't matter. Scheduled from 8:3am-12pm. Had to keep calling to check on eta. No other person available to reroute appt. Showed up around almost 8pm and still didn't have the part required to fix the running faucet. Just know the diagnosis isn't just the $69. The tech did attempt to get it repaired. But, he was not successful. Had it been attempted during the daytime, time may have allowed him to go try to get the right part. Very frustrating. read more

We had their annual service contract for HVAC for many years. This year, we received 2 different and misleading recommendations from 2 different technicians about the condition of our unit, with recommendations for a costly (over $4000) replacement. We got a check from a different company with a much less costly recommendation for just a new part rather than completely new unit. We have lost our trust in this company. Like David stated below I did the same thing my home was built in 2011 as well had no previous problems with HVAC, so called ARS since they were the people who originally installed, Technician Mike came out and did a wonderful job but stated that We would need a new control panel, $700 including labor... Thought about it and discussed with my wife and was going to move forward since we do have a 3yr old in home as well. until sales rep called and confirmed before she ordered the part. I asked how much was the part. she stated she couldn't tell me because prices were sent down from corporate office . Then I asked how much was labor... I'm glad to see that the manager from ARS does respond to these reviews and post his same and phone number. However, the response came 9 months too late. As it happened, my wife called ARS, spoke to another service rep who resolved it. She also extended our service contract for another year before consulting me. I did not for no reason refuse the first service technician's recommendation to install a UV air cleaner at the point where the cooled air leaves the heat heat exchanger. He could not explain to me how having the UV at the outlet of the air exchanger was going to kill all the mold in all the duct work and provide me with mold-free air. My last A/C tuneup service by ARS was May 10 this year. On June 30 (Saturday), during one of the 100+ days, our downstair A/C unit stopped working. True, I've yet to act on ARS recommendation to replace the A/C and I have also rejected the recommendation to add a pound of coolant to both upstairs and downstairs unit since they were low. I called up an A/C service company my neighbor uses because they were already scheduled to have a service visit by the company. The nice folks called me back the same day and agreed to service our A/C during the same visit too. It's nice that these small family business are more understanding of their customer. I watched as the service technician (the company owner's son) removed a side panel of the compressor and he immediately found a problem. He showed me how one of the wires connected to a large capacitor (about the size of a beer can) was covered with black soot-like powder. He decided the capacitor is blown. He replaced the capacitor and cool air immediately start coming out of the floor vents (also called registers). The technician labeled the problem as "a bad capacitor and worn wire". Being educated as an Electrical Engineer in college, I tend to think the problem leading to the charred wire has been around for a while. I'm disappointed that an A/C unit inspection on May 10 this year fail to find such problems. If this is to be expected, what good is a service contract? While I may be happy that the service technicians can make apparently sound recommendations on preventative equipment replacements, I'm definitely very disturbed that the annual tune-ups fail to catch a soot-covered (worn) electrical wire in the compressor unit. read more

I only gave them one star because I had to give them something! Please do your homework and followup as well as get a second opinion. I had ARS out to repair a leak for my hot water heater. They repaired the leak the restored my hot water I paid them $449.00 and all was well so I thought. We went out to eat and returned to a home with no heat! I called ARS and told them I had no heat after the water leak was repaired. ARS stated they could not have the plumber return to restore my heat, so we had to go the night without any heat with snow on the ground 31 degrees. The next day ARS sent a HVAC technician out to repair my heat, they also said I will need to pay them another diagnostic fee for the technician to diagnose the issue they created. I was adamant about not paying them a second diagnostic fee. The technician stated my water circulatory pump was bad and it needed to be repaired. I again advised I had heat until you all came out to repair my hot water leak. ARS quoted me a repair price of $1900.00 and then advised to replace the system because they can install a new one tomorrow but the repair could takes days. ARS also sent a sales representative out to quote me a new system the same day. Three options were given $6000.00, $9000.00, and $13,000.00 !!!! I called another company and they came out the next day, diagnosed the problem and repaired it within 20 minutes. The issue was the plumber didn't bleed the line after he turned it off to repair the leak. So how is it that two certified technicians from ARS missed this. All of that money would have been spent for nothing because they didn't realize they needed to bleed the line and then restart my heating system. I now have heat and a new company to deal with in the event there is another issue. I will NEVER use, call or refer ARS to anyone. What I will say is RUN DO NOT USE. Thank you to the company who fixed my services, you know who you are and I will be forwarding a copy of this to the BBB as well as my attorney so I can get my money back per ARS service guarantee. Again I'm not angry I'm amazed that a company would do this to someone. All of this was resolved with an $85.00 service fee and a water hose. ARS I want to think that this is not your normal business practice, but if it is shame on you all. read more

I was a long-time customer of the company, through a couple buy-outs and mergers (I don't actually recall the name of the company I originally dealt with). I stopped dealing with this particular incarnation about 2 years ago, though. I had a service contract with ARS which included an HVAC checkup every 6 months. This was intended to prevent costly repairs. Ironically, the technician usually found something wrong with the system, usually resulting in a costly repair. I was often strongly encouraged to have the repair done immediately, to avoid even worse problems. Also, over the years, the technicians became increasingly enthusiastic about selling upgrades. I would smile, nod, take the brochures and file them accordingly. I eventually cancelled my service contract 2 years ago, after a particularly expensive repair on a relatively new heat pump. From that point on, the chronic (and expensive) problems mysteriously cleared up. Now, as I've said, I haven't done business with this company for a couple years, so it's possible things have improved since then. read more

13 months ago I spent nearly $15000 on a new HVAC system for my house in North Carolina. It is not my permanent residence so management from ARS put my installation on the back burner thinking it wasn't a priority. Although I was promised by Marty Fine, my sales representative that installation would start right away. In an investigation, They said they had other people needing service since they were living in their residences. Ironically I had new tenants moving in the following month which they did not know about. Of course, it was irrelevant to them. In the end, my new tenants bailed out of the agreement to move in as a condition of doing so was the completion of this new installation. Months later and THOUSANDS of dollars lost in rental income I finally found new tenants. Now nearly a year later, I have had multiple problems with this installation causing my current tenants wanting to move out. Getting great service is an oxymoron as they promise great service per their phone greeting when you call them. So, whatever you do in regards to getting a new AC system installed do NOT trust these people. I have had multiple technicians & electricians out 9 times & they still have excuses as to why my system doesn't work right. In the end, I contracted them through Home Depot as I have spent tens of thousands of dollars with Home Depot over the last 18 years. Never again will I trust either of them. I called them to replace a pressure regulator and the main shutoff valve. A simple job for which I was charged $900. The materials needed were $100 pressure regulator and $10 valve plus some pex piping. They took 60 minutes, part of it was paperwork. So, they charge $700 per hour of labor. PRICE GOUGING and HIGH-PRESSURE SALES TACTICS for work that DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE, according to the second opinion I obtained. The total I could easily have been out was $4168, also apparently about twice what others charge even if the work needed to be done. According to the ARS heating technician who came to check my Lennox system not yet 10 years old in a 1375 sq ft house, although my heating system was continuing to work fine, my AC evaporator coil was "beginning to leak." And I should replace it ($2122) and "protect my investment" with an air filter ($823), an air scrubber ($935), and an EZ trap ($158). When I said with that amount of money involved perhaps I should consider replacing the whole HVAC system, I couldn't get even a ballpark estimate of the cost, but I did get an appointment with a higher-level manager. Fortunately, I got the second opinion before then, so was able to cancel this appointment and not have to endure another "bum's rush"!! From many other reviews on this and other sites, the above unfortunately seems to be the way ARS operates. It has cost them my business, a faithful customer for 6+ years. read more

Our upstairs toilet flooded, which caused significant damage. In the process of turning off the water to the toilet I believe we over tightened the shut off valve, which caused a slight leak. I was planning on fixing it, but the contractors hired to do the water mitigation would not continue the work without a plumber coming to fix the shut-off valve. ARS was recommended to us by a friend who is a realtor. The plumber came, spent about 10 minutes replacing the valve, since the toilet had already been removed, and more time writing the invoice. We were charged $526 for the minor repair. We were of course shocked, and called the office. The young lady told us that the plumber had to charge us based upon the work selected in their system. In looking up the shut off valve it cost retail less than $12. Our case was referred to a Manager who I exchanged voicemails with, and then nothing. In my opinion, we were ripped off, and taken advantage of!! Buyer beware!!! I will never recommend or use them again, and will share my story to anyone that will listen. What a bunch of wankers. Trying to have a new HVAC system installed and twice they cant even make an appointment scheduled 10 days in advance. I especially like the reminder call day before, perhaps customers should call ARS and remind of appointment.... thus the appointment. let me rearrange schedule again for my time isn't important.... read more

This is the second time I have used them... unfortunately my house is under warranty and I have to unless I want to pay for the work. Both times nobody has showed up or called for my appointment... I had to call and ask them where my technician was. Would give them negative stars if possible. Conducting a business this way is pitiful. Call anyone other than ARS for anything you might need. read more

I've recommended ARS to several friends as I was very pleased with a new HVAC install in 2014. Well, that new unit just had the blower go bad - but no problem - the part is covered under warranty. So much for that, it ended up costing me over $400 to have that part replaced! The service call was $99, labor was $292 and I had to pay for fuel for tech to pick up part (another $30). This was a 3 bolts to pull fan, unplug connector, and pop in new part. I could have just bought the fan myself for $225 and skipped calling ARS. In fact - I could have just bought the new fan control module (the real part that failed) for $110. This was a very simple repair that I had already diagnosed. I feel bad I've recommended ARS to friends and will never call them again. The local independent contractor is a better choice! read more

I just got a cold call sales pitch on my cell phone even though I have been on the FTC no call list since 2004. Lenard said it was a courtesy call or follow up call even though I have never done business with them (and now never will). There are a lot of ways to get and keep customers but cold calling isn't one of them these days. I have reported them to the FTC. read more
