I'll…read moreupdate as the situation continues and give fair updates as it is resolved: I took my older 19 ft Chevy G30 van there a month and a half ago. I had my vehicle towed there (it's $600 for each tow) and even spoke to someone there, told them what kind of vehicle and what was wrong and was told to bring it in for an estimate. NOBODY told me it would be $158/hour to diagnose...nobody. I even spoke to the mechanic once it was there, someone at the front desk and there was NO mention of this. I read some of the other reviews and I'm getting the sense they definitely take advantage of people if the situation calls for it. I called twice to get a status with no response or call back in that month and a half worth of time. Finally called yesterday and was put on hold a few times (it seemed they were looking into an issue), then a new service writer told me that he just started three days ago, read the notes that said to just "call owner" and says oh gee that would be $158/hour since it wasn't running (nobody at the get go told me that, nor after or since until now) AND my vehicle has been sitting there for a month and a half or more!? I would have made other plans if I knew this. So then to top it off, I get hung up on (I was completely calm on the phone), call back, leave a message and then eventually connect about an hour later. Now all of a sudden he says that the lead mechanic already did 1.5 of work that I'd be charged for and fixed a switch and got it started but won't stay running and needs more work. The lack of communication in this is absolutely astounding and now how do I trust anything!? All I got was an oops sorry nobody called you and told you how much it would be or even gave you anything in writing or authorized any work!? My family owns a shop farther away and that is completely illegal!! I have no choice now but to have them continue and told them to cut it off at a certain amount of hours. I will update once this situation is complete and fairly if resolved. Now I'm skeptical but if I can't at least get the vehicle running to make it to my house, I will have to get another $600 tow. If they can tell me what's wrong with it, even better. I'm hoping for the best and will update once this is resolved.

When I got the car back my headlights did not work. I went back to let them know and left my car there. They said they would take a look. Another week went by and I had to call again to follow up. They said I would need to take the car to Tidewater Auto Electric because of the wiring. I did a quick Google search and it suggested to check the headlight relay and ballasts. I ordered the parts on Amazon and changed them myself. I am not a mechanic and was able to figure it out. The headlights worked after that. They have a Superman figure displayed there at the register. I guess headlight work is Superman's kryptonite. I would be very cautious of the accountability at this shop.

I can certainly understand that. They also mentioned an issue about liability and not wanting to damage my bike if something were to happen while they rolled it around in their workshop. I applied the honesty exhibited here. I've had repairs done here before, one in particular where they had to remove the dashboard to repair the display lights on the console of my 4Runner. They did an excellent job and the price was very reasonable. I tell you this to say that these folks are very honest and they will not just take your money if they can't actually do the work. They are upfront with timelines and pricing and for that reason I highly recommend this wonderful business for all of your automotive electrical needs, just not motorcycles.

It was looked at the next day, and the owner sent me a video of my engine going crazy (like it was the day before too) and proof there was zero oil in the engine, and that it was seizing. They flushed it with oil for me, ran it for a while, and told me that they did what they could, but they were not sure how much damage had been done without taking apart the engine completely, but it was not good. I'm so grateful Bayside was honest with me and truly saved me from a really unsafe situation. The owner is upfront, honest, and will do anything to help you. I was cool with it, paid my $400 for it and was in another shop 2 days later because the clamps on the hose were not tight at all, I could turn them with my fingers. Now I'm out more than double the money because of a tow and another diagnostic and repair I had to pay for. They're nice people but I paid $400 days for a 4 inch elbow hose and a lack of attention to detail that caused a failure on my vehicle. Thought this was going to be my go to place because they were so helpful but they've costed me more money than necessary.
