The special of the night, black fettuccine
    Leah F.

This little neighborhood gem did not disappoint. The service was beyond wonderful everyone was so kind warm & welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the calamari it was perfectly crisp & had a good mix of rings & tentacles. The pesto and bread was so fresh & delicious. We had the specials of the night the veal Parmesan & black fettuccine pasta. The veal was the star of the show for me it was perfection! Everything that came out to every table looked amazing & made it hard to choose. We ended the evening with a little lemon cello shot they brought out & the Spumoni. We left so happy & full. I can't wait to return. I do recommend making reservations as it's a small intimate place and every single table was booked. I can see why this place was wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

A lovely restaurant taken just before every single table was occupied.

A lovely atmosphere and a pleasure to enter this restaurant. Welcoming smiles and an excellent menu to peruse whilst enjoying wonderful bread with pesto or oil and balsamic on request. We started with very tasty meatballs served in a great marinara sauce. My husband ordered a pasta sausage and peppers dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the veal Marsala. My meal came with fresh steamed veggies and mashed potato with Marsala gravy. The veal was in three separate medallions. One piece was fairly tender but the other two were very chewy and l left one piece on the plate , as the knife provided would not cut it. I was disappointed but the overall meal and experience was good and I felt no reason to complain. I would certainly return to this very popular place. Our server had worked there for almost 28 years and deserves a round of applause for his expertise and demeanor.

I order ahead for pick up. It was ready before it was promised which was nice and they were very quick to help me when I went in. Felt kind of old time-y and charming. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo and added meatballs. It came with some bread and pesto to dip. They also had grated parm cheese in my to-go order. Yum! It was delicious. I very much enjoyed the Alfredo sauce and I thought it was very fair priced for adding in meatballs too!

I had this place saved on Instagram I'd been wanting to try it for awhile. I came here on lunch and ordered the Penne Alla Vodka for lunch, and it was only $13. The place inside is so cute and traditional Italian style, and when I came to pick up, they had thrown in a salad, and bread for me and it was so sweet! It felt like my ancestors were making sure I had plenty to eat lol. Their home made bread with the pesto sauce was to die for. I also really appreciated the salad. The penne alla vodka was really nice too and not super overpowering. I'd love to try more on their menu this is a true authentic Italian place. Can't wait to come back for more! All the employees are so nice and accommodating and made me feel right at home even for a to go order. The interior is just stunning!

Got the special and it was delicious. This is real Italian food, my favorite in AZ next to Dimaggios. Old school vibe and service that tells you they know their food is good. Do yourself a favor and make yourself a regular at this establishment.

If you have never been here before, you must go. The food is beyond amazing and the service is spectacular. I highly recommend the cheese raviolis with vodka sauce and the Seabass is out of this world. The lemon cheesecake is absolutely delicious. Everything is homemade and just so authentic. The servers are beyond kind and very attentive. Feels like a family when you eat there.

Five of us made a reservation to celebrate a birthday and this place did not disappoint. We were greeted right away and shown to a table in a cozy and old school Italian room. We shared a bottle of wine and they brought us their fresh baked bread with pesto dipping sauce that was delicious. I didn't get pictures of everything, sorry! All of our food was home made and perfection. We each ordered a different dessert and the only one we didn't like was the crème brûlée. We've had better elsewhere. Drinks were amazing, food was scrumptious, service was friendly. We will definitely go back!

I went here in December 2024 and I'm still thinking about the food there. The restaurant was cozy but still felt a little formal (jeans and a nice shirt, not sweatpants). The staff was so kind and attentive, we never had to wait for water. They started on their bread and rather than bringing out the standard olive oil, they brought out their house pesto. It was amazing, the bread was soft and warm while the pesto was herbaceous and garlicky. I got the pesto gnocchi after seeing how amazing their house pesto was and it was 10/10. The pesto was mixed with a cream sauce and the gnocchi was soft. Didn't feel like a heavy meal at all. My father got the fettuccine Alfredo which was creamy and cheesy, just what you want it to be. We aren't a dessert family much, but we got the crème brulee and it has a hard top then a creamy custard inside which was the perfect ending to the meal. This is the best pesto of all time (the POAT) and I highly recommend that if you're in Scottsdale you go to this restaurant.

AMAZING experience. So welcoming and authentic. You can tell the owners take pride in what they serve. Tammy was our server, she was a doll and as authentic as they come. Gave us great recommendations. Food was great and they have amazing specials. Arancini balls aren't shown but pretty good too. Table side bread and pesto was a highlight as well. So good. Will be coming back

It's July 4th and we found this gem in Scottsdale. The Lasagna was fabulous, and so was the fettuccini however the meatballs were the icing on the cake. Few make them like my wife or Mom and this place does. No offense to the Fairmont but this was the best meal all week!

"Eat Like Italiano at Marcellino"…read more Marcellino Ristorante in Scottsdale is one of those places that's clearly popular for a reason. There was a long wait when we arrived but the staff made it pleasant by bringing out free bruschetta while we waited, which was a nice touch. The ambiance is very Italian--warm, charming, and inviting. They also have outdoor seating, which adds to the whole experience. There was live music that night, and it really set the mood without being overwhelming. I tried two of their non-alcoholic drinks: the rosemary mint lemonade and the hibiscus mango--both refreshing and thoughtfully made. My husband went with a lager beer, which paired well with the food. When we ordered, we were asked if we wanted to try their homemade pasta, and once we heard they have squid ink pasta, my husband didn't hesitate. We ordered it, and wow--it was amazing. The pasta was deeply flavorful, loaded with seafood, and served with lobster meat on the side, which took it to another level. We also ordered the Filetto di Malale--pork tenderloin sautéed with tender asparagus and green peppercorns, finished with a bourbon flambé. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. For dessert, we had the flaming panna cotta, which was both fun to watch and deliciously sweet. We were also happy to meet the owner-chef, Marcellino Verzino, which made the experience even more special. Overall, this place is absolutely worth visiting if you're looking for authentic Italian dishes here in Arizona. Definitely a spot we would return to.

We made a reservation ahead of time and had a table ready for us on the outdoor patio. We went on a Friday and could instantly tell this place is legit. The ambiance isn't modern it's more home-style but honestly, who cares when the food is this good? The service was excellent and incredibly fast. We were on a bit of a time crunch, and they helped us wrap everything up right on schedule. For drinks, I ordered a Cosmo and oh my one of the best cocktails I've had. The flavor was perfectly balanced and so smooth. For appetizers, we tried Emma's dumplings, beet salad, Brussels sprouts, and burrata. They started us off with house-made bread and homemade butter, I could eat that all day. So good! We were pleasantly surprised by the amazing vegetarian options. The Brussels sprouts, beet salad, and Emma's dumplings were definite winners each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. For mains, we ordered the penne vodka. I had high expectations, and while it was good, it was more on the average side compared to everything else. And finally the butter cake for dessert absolutely knocked it out of the park. You could literally taste the butter in every bite, Unreal. Pricing is very reasonable, and overall the service and food were beyond exceptional. We'll definitely be back!

We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff were so sweet to write us a handwritten note, this really started off our night on a good note so props to you guys! As a lemoncello connoisseur, their lemoncello in general was fantastic and the spritz was very refreshing and bright! It makes me very happy to know that they make everything from scratch, including some of their liquors. A little intimidated by the menu, I asked our server what he recommended. He was very knowledgeable and very descriptive when explaining the dishes! I got the short rib pasta, and my boyfriend got the shrimp linguine. This was seriously one of the best pastas that I've ever had! On both of our meals, the protein was just incredible. The shrimp was tender flavorful and I appreciated them keeping the shell on the shrimp it just tasted so fresh! For my short rib, it was just truly incredible. The sauce was rich and flavorful without being too heavy or overwhelming. The short rib just melted. Honestly, in this day and age it's very hard to find places like this in my experience where the service is top-tier. The ambience is welcoming, warm and you can taste the actual care and love that goes into everything that they put out. I look forward to bringing my friends and family to try this gem. In the meantime, I will be forever dreaming about my short rib pasta and lemon cello. Thank you DiMaggio's for making this a wonderful experience!

So it needs to be said up front that diners, including myself, are able to be very picky about italian restaurants around here. I loved the overall vibe, design and decor. There's a big patio with a good sized bar open to the interior, and a bar inside with maybe only 10 seats. I didn't sit at the bar, but did see the bartender in lively banter with everyone there. I'd like to spend a couple hours at that bar sometime inside or out, get some bites and a cocktail. The dining room isn't too big or too small with classic dark walls and red booths, white tablecloths. My favorite. Classy and comfortable. The food was all excellent, very flavorful and perfectly executed. Even parking at DiMaggio's is easy which is rare in Scottsdale. I'm still confused about what kind of restaurant DiMaggio's is - casual or fine dining? On the one hand, the decor is upscale, low lighting, a nice bar, white tablecloths and fine dining prices. At $45, their lasagna is by far the most expensive in town, and their other entrees are all in the mid-$30's to $45, which to me sets a certain expectation. Our service was dismally inattentive, not showing up much, letting drinks sit at the bar too long so they got warm, and letting our pasta sit at the window too long so the cream sauce had a film on it when it arrived. Probably half a dozen workers at all levels just standing around watching things but not doing anything when clearly lots of help was needed, passing our table many times while ignoring my attempt to get their attention for something lacking at my table. When we first met, our server did describe DiMaggio's as casual dining, which would justify any of my complaints, but again $45 entrees? I couldn't take someone I want to impress to DiMaggio's, but also don't want to spend this much for a casual meal. I definitely need to revisit DiMaggio's someday.

I did go on a first date here and maybe not as romantic as I would have liked -- much more of a family vibe -- or in the bar area was all about sports. It was a Saturday night and my date had made a reservation but it looked like we could have easily gotten a table without one. There is a parking lot but couldn't tell if it was easy parking because we took an Uber since we were drinkiing. I started with an espresso martini and I would give it a 4/10 -- I think the espresso used was low quality because it wasn't my favorite. My date got a whiskey old fashioned and he liked it. Service was pretty good -- it was a busy Saturday night. I wanted to order a glass of wine with my meal but the server was gone for some time so my date had to flag her down. I ordered the halibut with crab on top and the server recommended a white wine to pair -- I thought it was an usual suggestion but went with it -- she didn't even suggest which white - so I went with a Sav Blanc and it was actually quite good -- I didn't catch the name. We started with some shrimp cocktail and that was pretty good, sauce was tasty. The halibut was actually quite good and cooked to perfection - the crab on top was really good too -- it came on a bed of linguini which was too much -- I didn't really eat that. My date had the filet special with a lobster sauce -- it looked really rich and the portion was huge! He couldn't even eat it all. Overall I enjoyed my meal, I was quite full when we left, LOL! I didn't catch how much the total cost was but I think it had to have been at least $200 -- so definitely some dough will be dropped! But for a special occasion it is worth it.
