Bear is a stocky, 17-pound tiger kitty (a recent addition to my household), but despite his size, he's a big baby, and will run and hide whenever somebody "new "enters my house. But Kim has a way with animals that draws them to her. It took only a few days, but eventually, Bear came out of hiding, sat on her lap and even allowed her to brush him! That was truly amazing and made me really happy! However, Josephine, my 15-pound calico, was probably not as happy because that meant she would have to share Kim's time with Bear. But not to worry...Kim had plenty of love and attention for both of them! When I'm out of town, Kim will text me photos of Josephine and Bear and before she leaves for the day, she leaves behind notes regarding each day's visit. She will also water your plants, open/close the blinds, or pick up your mail if you ask. I could tell that she truly loves what she does and that she loves my kitties as much as I do! My kids and I rushed back to Sterling (we were in DC at the time) and spent the evening combing the neighborhood where he was lost and putting up flyers. It was a horrible, stressful evening. Thankfully, a stranger found him and called us the next morning (our number was on his tag). The dog sitter and the owner of the company helped us look for the dog and seemed truly sorry, especially the dog sitter whose home he escaped from. I know she felt badly, but still - he shouldn't have been able to escape from her back yard! He should have been on a leash, especially since he was new to her. Upon my request, they reimbursed me the $40 I gave the man who found him.

It's more convenient (and cheaper!) than boarding them, and our kitties are much happier. The sitters also scoop the litter boxes, play with the cats, and bring in our mail. We especially love our current sitter, Rachel. She leaves us detailed (and funny!) notes about her visits, and she even vacuumed the floor when the cats kicked litter out of the box, which was a pleasant surprise. For reference, we have two bigger, social dogs who formerly happily boarded in pet hotels, but moved to sitting when our senior dog started chemo. We have used a variety of services, starting with 4/day visits over a long weekend, then supplementing house sitting by older parents (the sitters did the walking and feedings with meds), then overnight stays plus 3/day visits. Our sitters have been dedicated and caring, excellent with our dogs, and respectful of our home and how the boys are cared for. Having a senior dog can be a dog-sitting challenge, and they were excellent with loving on him, as well as entertaining our younger more energetic dog. It's important for anyone using pet sitting to (1) make arrangements well in advance to ensure availability, and (2) meet the sitter in your home first to introduce the pets and to show them around the house and how your pup is fed, medicated, let out, etc and where pet supplies are kept.

She decided she had something better to do a few days later and I was left without a sitter after having total knee replacement. This is not acceptable. I was asked to pay ahead of time for the entire 5 days which I did. It then took them 10 days to return my money after notifying me they could not do the service. I don't feel they are running a business, but a hobby for unemployed or people transitioning from other jobs. Since it was just a hobby for the dog sitter, she canceled.
