I had a Bavarian cream, which at least felt fresh, but the donut part was meh (might have needed a pinch of salt in the dough), and the cream tasted like the nasty canned "creme" I'd expect at a non-"gourmet" donut shop. With the word "gourmet" I honestly expect some creative flavor options, and for the basics to be skillfully made with quality ingredients. The hot coffee I had was good though. The service was slow. Yes, they're juggling drive-thru and in-store orders, but there has to be a more efficient way of handling counter service and drive-thru ops. I was going to give reluctant (bc of the excessive plastic) bonus points for the coffee lid, because it is *substantial* -- it almost feels reusable, the plastic is so thick -- but the flippy portion broke off when I tried to lock it open. Not a big deal if you're in the passenger seat, and once I found it I could push it back on, but if you're driving, it's at minimum annoying, and potentially a mess. I don't think ambiance is applicable, since there was no seating, but it looked like maybe it used to be an auto parts store? There was a big empty counter with shelves on the way in, and scattered ceiling tiles and fixtures with cars and things like "STP" and "Goodyear." So, I didn't consciously factor ambiance into my rating, but I suppose it might of subconsciously affected my impression. Now, if it were name was "Basic Donuts and Good Coffee," I'd have given an extra star, but not only were the expectations created by the word "gourmet" not met, but the donuts and service didn't even meet those of basic mass-produced chains.

Walking in, there are various areas to sit and socialize spread out into this industrial space, which still retains a certain coziness despite the size and high ceilings. You can definitely engage in the most inappropriate conversations here without being heard by other parties, which scores high marks in my book. I wish I had taken pictures, but I left my phone in the car. They have a variety of gluten-free desserts (and regular, as well) and I have never seen blueberry muffins that were more photogenic. They were MASSIVE, and loaded with tons of berries. They looked like something straight from a magazine. They also had cheesecake, red velvet cake, cupcakes, and other assorted treats. I ordered a black coffee, and one of the best cupcakes I've had in a while. It tasted like it came fresh out of the oven, and was incredibly moist. The coffee I picked was super strong. It was a medium roast, but reminded me more of a dark French roast. I'm used to drinking light roasts, though, so I think that it was just a little too strong and dark for me. The pâté is *chef's kiss* it is utterly delicious and it is the main ingredient lacking from a lot of bánh mì I've tried around here. The crispy pork belly was phenomenal and I could not believe I could enjoy something like this at 10AM in a restaurant. 10/10 stars. Genie's Omelet ; this is your standard American breakfast affair. The omelet was very good; not dry or rubbery at all and the tomatoes, onions, and swiss cheese combo worked really well. The home fries were crispy, as was the side of buttered toast. Our poor waitress ran back and forth trying to figure what kind of hot sauce my wife wanted. She was so patient with us and even the cook came out to speak with us. Excellent service!! They stayed so good in the fridge for a couple days! Some store bought strawberries get soggy and super wet, these held up way better and the taste was amazing. The crunchy chocolate casing around a quality juicy strawberry is unmatched. They were so busy because it was valentine's day and they were still so professional and prepared!
