The Scandinavian almond cupcake is a bit sweet for me but has a strong almond flavor. You can find a variety of local food , Scandinavian, and other gifts at the store too. It's a nice place to get a gift on the way to visiting someone. They have dairy products and other perishables as well. There's some outdoor seating at the store and the abundance of flowers outside was a nice touch. I guess, hence, the Kitchen Garden... Service was friendly and helpful. I wished they had some limpa or Finnish rye, but I came pretty late in the day. Maybe I'll try the ice cream sometime, though it's from Bliss over in Attleboro, which is closer to Boston. This general store is a nice stop along Route 2.

I had a Bavarian cream, which at least felt fresh, but the donut part was meh (might have needed a pinch of salt in the dough), and the cream tasted like the nasty canned "creme" I'd expect at a non-"gourmet" donut shop. With the word "gourmet" I honestly expect some creative flavor options, and for the basics to be skillfully made with quality ingredients. The hot coffee I had was good though. The service was slow. Yes, they're juggling drive-thru and in-store orders, but there has to be a more efficient way of handling counter service and drive-thru ops. I was going to give reluctant (bc of the excessive plastic) bonus points for the coffee lid, because it is *substantial* -- it almost feels reusable, the plastic is so thick -- but the flippy portion broke off when I tried to lock it open. Not a big deal if you're in the passenger seat, and once I found it I could push it back on, but if you're driving, it's at minimum annoying, and potentially a mess. I don't think ambiance is applicable, since there was no seating, but it looked like maybe it used to be an auto parts store? There was a big empty counter with shelves on the way in, and scattered ceiling tiles and fixtures with cars and things like "STP" and "Goodyear." So, I didn't consciously factor ambiance into my rating, but I suppose it might of subconsciously affected my impression. Now, if it were name was "Basic Donuts and Good Coffee," I'd have given an extra star, but not only were the expectations created by the word "gourmet" not met, but the donuts and service didn't even meet those of basic mass-produced chains.

Hence, one of my latest discoveries: a coffee shop set up in a literal garage, next to a Safelite. This is a perfect place to host events, including live music. The space is huge. When you walk in, there is an outer lobby area filled with comfy chairs to sit and relax while sipping your coffee. Walking in, there are various areas to sit and socialize spread out into this industrial space, which still retains a certain coziness despite the size and high ceilings. You can definitely engage in the most inappropriate conversations here without being heard by other parties, which scores high marks in my book. I wish I had taken pictures, but I left my phone in the car. They have a variety of gluten-free desserts (and regular, as well) and I have never seen blueberry muffins that were more photogenic. They were MASSIVE, and loaded with tons of berries. They looked like something straight from a magazine. They also had cheesecake, red velvet cake, cupcakes, and other assorted treats. I ordered a black coffee, and one of the best cupcakes I've had in a while. It tasted like it came fresh out of the oven, and was incredibly moist. The coffee I picked was super strong. It was a medium roast, but reminded me more of a dark French roast. I'm used to drinking light roasts, though, so I think that it was just a little too strong and dark for me. I just love that someone decided to take an industrial garage and turn it into something you wouldn't expect. Such a cool concept!

I just need a good latte and to go on a nice drive AWAY from Worcester. Coffee lands popped up on the maps and i was like. Let's goooo! Me and my wife looked super chopped when we got there bc we had been crying a couple min before walking in the door. But we knew we needed food. And a good latte. They helped us out no questions asked. Even though we looked like we possibly had the Honto virus and the lady was super nice. The live music that was being played was Soul lifting. We ordered a large hot vanilla latte and an iced black tea. A Fat Friday breakfast sandwich and a plain bagel with cream cheese. Sitting in the caffe there was a beautiful calm cross breeze coming in. It was cozy. It was chill. It was a breath of fresh air. That we desperately needed. The way the universe brought us here was wild. Especially with how gas prices are rn ‍ we probably would have never came out here. I give this spot a 10/10 Food was DELICIOUS The latte was what a latte should taste like. And the tea was exactly what my wife needed. Thank you guys. We will be back. Note to self, if you have a food sensitivity or allergy, be sure they know it because I just tried to order according to my needs and didn't spell it out as I should have. The full order of Irish breakfast - an eggs bene over corned beef hash - is HUGE. A half order is absolutely enough for your average size breakfast. I ordered two pancakes, and one would have been enough for my appetite. Another note to self - portions are big. On street parking. Single restroom off dining area. Friendly staff. I parked in the Bank of America lot across the street. Approaching the entrance, you can tell this place is going to be vibe since even the front is brightly decorated with a bright orange-trimmed canopy, orange chairs, and pink stanchions. Walking inside, you are blasted with color. The walls are bright cyan, there are pink basket chairs suspended from the ceiling and there are even more orange chairs and seats. I spoke with the counter server and it turns out it was Joly herself. They've only been open for the past week and naturally there are growing pains with figuring out logistics and training the staff. This was definitely apparent when I received my drink from a different staff member and Joly had to correct her that the wrong lid was used. My drink turned out delicious and that's all that matters to me. I will have to come back here and try something more decadent, and I definitely want to try out their frozen yogurt. With that said, this review is based totally on the ambiance and staff friendliness. I look forward to coming back!
