I'll admit they weren't busy when we arrived, but they were when we left. Service was excellent, food flavors were incredible, and seating was comfortable. Overall a great experience. Ordered the butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, garlic naan, Taj Mahal dark and the mango lassi Mai tai. WOW!

Craving Indian food. I have been trying to come here but downtown Phoenix parking is awful. This go round I realize they have parking at 721 3rd street behind a building. Let's skip the parking drama and get to the food and restaurant. Well stocked bar although I didn't partake of adult beverages today. Instead I did the non alcoholic mango lassi (I had this drink for the 1st time at my new favorite Indian buffet & it was phenomenal there) so I tried theirs and it was banging too. Interior is nice Indian music playing and multiple TVs going some with Indian cooking, Indian dance, and news. When you come in greeted and seated quickly. If you see my other reviews when I go to any special ethnic restaurant, when I see their culture eating there you already know it's going to be TASTE BUD HEAVEN. I did the chicken curry Tika masala, the bao bun, and garlic naan. Yup it was good as Heck. 5 stars every dish. Very pleased. I'm so relaxed with the music I want a coffee but I'm full. Nice patio and indoor seating with full service bar. We went on a December Sunday afternoon (~2:30PM), so it was not very crowded, which is good, if you travel with kids Ordered daal makhani , garlic naan, plain dosa (all great tasting) and jehangir kebab, chili paneer (was ok). The serving staff is polite and patient. This is a great stop for Indian food, especially if you are in transit and crossing Phoenix via i10. The restaurant is barely 2 mins from i10 exit.

I was very impressed with the variety, freshness, and flavor of the food here. The sheer volume of vegetarian options was a pleasant surprise. Service was quick and friendly, and I love what they've done to the space. The murals are a really nice touch. I'm excited to go back and try more of what they have to offer.

Great butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. Go with the spice level 4. Trust me! :) every time I'm come back here they redo something on their patio. Now there's a cool bamboo roof with string lights. Love that

Had a little date night at this location and had a very pleasant experience. The staff were super friendly and greeted us with a HUGE smile! We got seated very quickly and after we sat the place seemed to fill up quickly! I also noticed a lot of other Indian people eating here which means they got good food!! There must have been some confusion because at first someone took our order but then we were going to add something else on because we were still deciding. But then once we waited for a long time they came and said they didn't take the order only 2 thing was submitted which was the lamb and the app. So we got that figured out lol We started with appetizer desi doo bun and it had great flavor but wish they had more chicken. I enjoyed these but this was not my wife's favorite. The lamb was phenomenal! This definitely stood out because the meat was a good portion and it was SO tender. The sauces were great compliments to the flavors! We had butter chicken that followed with some vegetable curry and garlic naan. The butter chicken was 7/10 . The chicken was dry unfortunately. The vegetables curry was very flavorful and delicious! The naan came out super hot and delicious as well! I finished off with some rice pudding which was their house special. Haven't had it for a while but it satisfied my sweet tooth. I would recommend checking out this place for good food and friendly service

I ordered a chicken tikka masala and some garlic naan. The food was very good and was the perfect temperature when I got home at the time that I ate it. You don't have to order rice in addition to the chicken tikka masala if that's what you order, which is nice. I am glad that this is the case because it was a little more than what I was expecting to spend. However, I do think that the price was okay for dinner. Another note that I will offer about the food is that they do allow you to customize the spice levels, which is nice. The service was more than I had ever expected, especially for just having placed a to go order. They allowed me to sit inside the restaurant while I waited for my food, noted that I was waiting on my order so that it would come out in a reasonable time, and also offered me a to go water while I was waiting. The containers that my food came in are honestly ones that I could reuse. The ambience of the restaurant is also nice. There is a nice patio with different types of seating to accommodate all needs. The inside has a nice bar and they have music playing at a volume that allows you to listen, but it's not too loud. There is also a separate parking lot across the street that is reserved for customers of the restaurant, which is really nice since it is located in downtown. I will definitely be coming back to dine in.

The food was so well done and great portions! I asked for a level 3 spice and it was perfect with a kick to it. Mango Lasi was also great. The service from all the workers was so kind and attentive to our table, I appreciate all the waitress and waiters. Ambiance is great- the music played was good volume and able to dance and enjoy the night.

Plain Naan

Homely Indian food and family run place. Restaurant is quite big from inside and they have a patio as well. The Garlic naan was soft and delicious and the Goat curry was also well cooked but had a lot of tiny thin bones so one had to be extra careful while eating it. It's a little dark inside as lighting is a little subdued.

I am not an Indian food connoisseur by any means, but one of my Indian friends recommended ordering…read moretakeout from this place for a party. This is how I tried New Indian Bazaar for the first time. Specifically, we got the Samosa chaat and aloo tikki chaat. They were so filling and full of flavor, even though they were appetizers! Craving the same experience, I dined in at New Indian Bazaar for the first time on a Sunday evening. It was relatively empty. We ordered the following (with copied and pasted descriptions straight from the menu): 2. Samosa Chaat 6.99 Crispy Turnover topped with garbanzo bean curry, garnished with yogurt, onions, spices and chutneys. 4. Aloo Tikki Chaat. 6.99 2 patties topped with garbanzo bean curry, garnished with yogurt, onions, spices and chutneys. 7. Pani Puri V 4.99 5 puries served with side of potatoes, garbanzo beans, onions, tamarind sauce and spicy water. 44. Butter Chicken 13.99 Marinated boneless chicken cooked in a mild butter sauce. 87. Mango Lassi I sincerely loved everything. I thought the butter chicken was a bit dry, but otherwise I had no complaints. I have a pretty low spice tolerance, but the food was full of spice as in flavor, which was absolutely amazing. I was able to survive with water and the mango lassi lol As I mentioned, admittedly I haven't tried many Indian restaurants or foods in general in my lifetime, but this has quickly become a favorite yet to be dethroned. I look forward to my next opportunity to visit again, especially for their extremely affordable lunch buffet!

They have parking on both sides of their business: one by the store and the other by the restaurant. There were a few people inside shopping and I picked up my food. I decided to look around the store for a bit, they have a good variety of Indian spices, snacks, cookies and other dry goods. I also bought some veggie samosas for $1.50 each, a good deal. They also had a display case of desserts and pastries. The food I received included rice, chicken tandoori, some curry, and fried bread. The chicken was spicy and tasted good, but some of the rice was undercooked and the curry wasn't great. The samosas were pretty simple but good, and I love the mint chutney and tamarind sauce that come with it. This is a neat place to peruse and pick up some items to cook Indian food. Maybe their lunch buffet is better fresh but I don't think the bag met the anticipated value.

Downtown Phoenix is not a monolith. It's not only Roosevelt Row, or the sports district, or the…read moreCapitol. There's a wide range of neighborhoods, each with their own distinct character. Today, looking for an early dinner spot, I came upon Baiz Market. A small Middle Eastern grocery store with a sit down restaurant inside called Al-Hana. There's actually three Baiz Markets here in town, but the original is tucked away just east of the Garfield neighborhood on the eastern fringe of Downtown. I've had some great Middle Eastern fare here in town from the likes of places such as Middle Eastern Bakery and Haji Baba. But Arizona Republic food columnist Dominic Armato has said Al-Hana is one of his top 100 go to spots in the valley. So on a Thursday afternoon, off I went. You'll find Al-Hana inside the original Baiz Market on the southeast corner of 20th Street and Fillmore. There are also Baiz Markets in west Phoenix and now in west Mesa, each with their own Al-Hana restaurants. But this one is the original. Adnan Baiz and his family run this local chain which is open to all, but catering particularly to the valley's growing Middle Eastern community. In the time I spent inside Baiz today, there was a kaleidoscope of customers coming in and out. From Downtown college kids, to Muslim families, to Latino workers stopping in for a meal, and even a few African American grandmothers just grabbing some grocery items. Clearly I'm not the only one in the area who knows about this place. But how good is the food at Al-Hana? Step up to the counter in back, gaze at the menu above (or at the display case below) and make your choices. I ordered an app and an entree for my first go around. First, a small cheese pie. A mix of feta and mozzarella cheeses on house made dough which is crimped to make sure none of that cheesy goodness escapes. Heated in the oven and served warm. For my entree, I went for a Chicken Shawarma entree. Basmati rice, veggies, pickles, garlic sauce, and a pair of large pita bread slices. Oh and of course the chicken, seasoned and sliced off the spinning grill right in front of you. Total cost for everything including tax? About $11. Food came out to me in a little less than 5 minutes. You can also get it to go if you want, but I dined in the small seating area next to the kitchen this go around. First, the cheese pie. And I now get why Yelpers and Armato hype this up. The dough is the best part. Crunchy on the outside, but soft, chewy, and hearty on the inside. And the cheese mix is perfect. And for just $1 its a perfect starter snack for pretty much any meal. How about the shawarma plate? The chicken was excellent. Seasoned perfectly with just a hint of char. The sides? Meh. The basmati rice was actually a big disappoint to be honest. Super dry and almost flavorless. The pita bread was fine, though I've had better on that front as well. All things considered though, a pretty decent meal (and portion) and a solid value for the price. Next time I'm here I'll probably opt for the kabobs, or perhaps grab a meat pie. Given the uniqueness of the groceries available here, the fully halal restaurant menu, and the mixed neighborhood it resides in, I can understand why Baiz endures in Downtown's ever changing landscape. We're much more spoiled for choice on Middle Eastern cuisine in the valley today than when Baiz originally opened in 2004. And there are many other Middle Eastern restaurants that can match or top Al-Hana's food at this point. But much the way Ranch Markets offer a unique way to shop for the valley's Latino communities, Baiz is giving the valley's Middle Eastern residents something with them in mind. If ever there was an establishment in the valley proving that Phoenix is becoming an international food destination, its Baiz.
