Chocolate Croissant

Great food and drinks, nice quiet atmosphere, conveniently located in the centre of Liberty Village and easy to walk to. Sandwiches are always a go to!

Personal sized Smoke salmon sandwich
John L.

Came here to try out their smoked salmon sandwich. Bread was harder than I like and was difficult to chew. Everthing else about the sandwich was average. There was plenty of seats and a large selection of drinks.

Sharon L.

I always take a double espresso or house blend coffee. I find the espresso a bit stronger than Starbucks (which is a good thing), and it's also less bitter too. It's a nice touch that they give a chocolate every time you buy something. No coffee breath afterwards

A view from the door.

Love this place. Probably some of the most friendly staff in this area. Super convenient, fresh ingredients and fairly quick on the food prep. I had the red lentil soup and a smoked salmon sandwich. A great combo for a cold January evening. The total came to about $18 because I chose the full sandwich. I'm pretty sure I could have got a lot more for my money but it's the overall experience that keeps bringing me back.

Half breakfast sandwich
Michael Y.

Went in for some breakfast and did not enjoy the food or experience. The service was below par and the food was just edible. I came in and ordered the breakfast sandwich which was very dry and bland. The person taking my order was distracted talking to a who I am assuming is a friend. I don't understand why some people think that this is acceptable, especially at a food service industry. The coffee was okay and I still don't understand the little chocolate, it's like a mint you get at a hotel for coffee. I guess I'm not much of chocolate bar kind of person. Their seating area is uncomfortable and cramped, even through we were the only ones sitting in the area. I think that the seats itself mostly made it feel awkward. I find that all the aroma has the same feel to them and I really haven't been impressed by them since. I probably won't ever come back unless the city runs out of coffee. If you're looking for good coffee, a Balzac is just down the street by Earth.

Shakshuka and Hash at Aroma in Liberty Village. My staple since I moved to this hood in January of this year :))

The entrance is two sets of doors so no draft when people come in and out! They have a very extensive cocktail and wine menu. There are also plates du jour (an entree and dessert). I ordered the duck confit over crispy rice and orange sauce. My companions ordered the chicken with maitake mushrooms and the burger. We shared the crème brûlée and basque cheesecake. I really enjoyed my dish! The duck was cooked perfectly. Duck was moist and flavorful. The crispy rice gave it a nice texture and helped make it a more filling dish. The orange sauce is a classic pairing with duck. The basque cheesecake has some delicious cherries! But the cheesecake itself was a little more burnt than I personally prefer. The crème brûlée had a very thick caramelized layer on top. But the creme was smooth and sweet. It'd be a great spot for a date night. But those with sensitive ears should proceed with caution. For three people I think it was about $135 CAD maybe $160 CAD after tax and tip.

For me, atmosphere and ambiance are just as important as the food and drinks, so I was more than a little disappointed when we were shown to a small table right by the door. We were so close to the door, in fact, that I found myself making awkward eye contact with everyone that walked in. Far worse, our table was about six inches away from the table next to ours, which made private conversation impossible and essentially killed anything resembling an intimate vibe. Thankfully the food and drinks made up for the lackluster atmosphere. I started with one of their martinis and it was absolutely fantastic. If there's a better martini anywhere in the city, I'd be surprised. The food was just as good. We started with their delicious bread and delectable butter, and followed that up with the above-average French Onion Soup. The Bitter Greens Salad managed the impossible: it made radicchio delicious. And finally, the Steak Frites ended the meal on an absolutely jaw-dropping note. I can't remember when (or even if) I've ever had steak this flavorful and this tender. Absolutely incredible. Aside from the far-from-romantic feel, I very much enjoyed my meal at Milou. Maybe we'll return someday and I'll request a more intimate table.

They have plenty of seating, from tables and chairs to more lounge type couches and such. Wifi was also really solid, which we appreciated being in from the States (crazy data charges, you know!).
