On Friday afternoon, my family and my French bulldog made our way to Arnold CA for a mini getaway. 30 minutes after settling in, I noticed that my Frenchie was panting heavily. Initially I thought it was the heat, so we placed her in a room with the AC on. 10 minutes later, the panting started to become gasping. My Frenchie started to lay on her side and that is when I realized that it is probably the high altitude / thin air. I quickly made my way to Arnold Pet Clinic, luckily enough they were still open otherwise the closest pet vet is miles away! As soon as I barged into the door, they quickly had my Frenchie under an oxygen mask in 10 seconds. They really acted fast and knew exactly what to do. Words cannot express how thankful I am for their professionalism and expertise. They saved my best bud. I left my Frenchie with them for an hour while I headed back to the cabin to pack our stuff and head back to the vet. I told them that I am heading back to the Bay Area, I did not care if I have to drive back another 3 hours. Amanda gave her a mild sedative to calm my Frenchie down while I make my way down to sea level. I really appreciate Amanda and her team. read more

We just started taking our dog Brittany to this vet about a year ago and we've had nothing but fabulous service the staff is so welcoming and they cared so much about your animal and the prices were very fair for the care that you get we are very happy to have found them and help to use them many times in the future read more

We moved to the Arnold area last year and I hated to leave our vet in the Bay Area. With 4 dogs, veterinary care was a concern. We hadn't been here a month before the need to make a visit to Arnold Pet Clinic. I was greatly relieved to find our local vet is kind, caring and thoughtful when making a diagnosis. Dr. Gatlin is practical and does a wonderful job of caring for our pets, making their immediate needs a priority. I like her and more importantly, our dogs like her. I work with many vets through a national rescue that I'm involved with and feel Cathy Gatlin is top notch. read more

This is only my personal opinions. However I have trained extremely high end gsd's for over twenty years. I admin my own shots and have experienced every issue for gsd's and have advanced human rescue training for humans. I essence my dog was over anesthetized. This led to his death. They could not validate or record the proper amounts given to my ptsd dog. He was irreplaceable highly expensive they d rather higher a lawyer than even remotely speak of any compensation. Just hand me a box which used to be my dog. I highly advise you fully look into the sedatives and opiates used and proportions as well as a panel should have been performed before the sedation to ensure this minor surgery didn't lead to a death. Ridiculous. Beware. Always be careful with no history with any vet. read more

Woof woof! Meow meow! My parents still take our pets to the Arnold Pet Clinic. Even though it is under new ownership, they still provide the same level of care to all of the pets they care for. Two paws up! ;) read more

One of the best Vets in the state. Unreal kindness and care. They have saved my dog's life. I cannot say enough good things about this place. read more

Wonderful place! Totally saved us when my pup picked up foxtails during a family vacation in Arnold. They fit us in at the last minute and took great care of my dog. Thoughtful staff, great office, excellent vet--very grateful to have found them! read more

Great place the best in Calaveras County kind caring staff thank you Cathy and staff for all you have done for us the last 13 years

Kudos and so much gratitude to Dr. Kathy Gatlin at Arnold Pet Hospital. My cat Chip was so constipated that he hadn't had a bowel movement for over a week. Before that, he was only passing small (really small) amounts of stool. He was miserable. He would let out these loud growling guttural screams. This has happened with him before, but not nearly as bad. I took him up to Arnold Pet Hospital and afternoon tests and treatments, he emptied his bowels today. Her whole staff was so kind and understanding. I really thought we were going to have to put him to sleep. But with the care and skillful knowledge he is now better. Dr Kathy recognized a problem with his back which may have made it Painful to push. She is going to treat that problem and hopefully Chip will have many many more unpainful years in his future Thank you again Dr Kathy, staff, and Arnold Pet Hospital. You made me feel like I was more than an open checkbook. read more

Dr. Gatlin is wonderful. She diagnosed and drained an abscess which presented as a marble size lump under our kitty's chin. I highly recommend her. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Arnold Pet Clinic is. Kathy and her staff are amazing. I always know when we take our pets to them they treat them as if they are family members. This is by far the best place to take your pets in the entire county. Adam and Jessica Snider read more

By far one of the best pet clinics I have ever used in my life. Dr. Gatlin and her husband run this vacility, and they do it with great professionalism and care. I have had to use them quite a few times in the last few years. A few years ago, my sisters Yorkshire, was hit by a car, at around 10 at night. I called them up, and they were at the office before I could drive 5 minutes to get there. Currently they have been taking care of my 4 month boarder collie and my Aussie/heeler mix. read more

I had just became a new client in Late Oct, 2019, after moving from another local and well respected vet practice who had serviced my beloved dogs over 8 1/2 years. Kathy Gatlin is already very well respected in my book. I also had a cross over in the 1 st 2 years of another large Vet Hospital in Fremont, Ca. I now Know I had made the right choice. Thank you Kathy read more

We were staying in Arnold for the week when our lab puppy sliced open the top of her paw. I called Arnold Pet Clinic at 4:58pm and they closed at 5pm. They said they would wait for us to close down the office. They sedated her, gave her some staples and a fabulous cone of shame. I can not thank them enough for staying open to treat our fur baby. You just don't get service like this these days. I just wish they were closer to our hometown. read more

I've been here with my dog 2x in the last 6 years. This second time was because we discovered at 5pm that my dog had a bladder infection. The Dr. was out but she called me when she got back that night and was willing to see her after hours. By 9pm we were back home with her first dose of medication. She's the best vet ever! read more

I've been rescuing and fostering for over 20 years and unfortunately she has failed me several times. The first time I took my cat because he could not pee. She took him in the back and then came back and said that he had a foxtail of his penis and that she had gotten it out. I was a little shocked considering the fact sheet only been back there for about 10 minutes but figured she saved me send money happening to put him under. To come home he couldn't pee, brought him back and after 7 visits and $1,000 she got him where he could dribble. He dribbled constantly. Second, rescue dog showed up at my work with mange and a double ear infection. On the recheck she told me "put this dog down he's going to break your Bank " I thought she knew me better than that. Took him for a second opinion and the second vet called her an idiot. She gave me pills to clear up their ear infection and he said that he has no idea why she would do that when ear infections are external. He gave me appointment and the dogs ears we're good within a week. Third, we have one search and rescue dog for our County and she misdiagnosed her, if her Handler hadn't decided to run down to Angels camp for a second opinion she would have passed away. She also charges three times the amount of my vet that is in San Andreas. read more

The staff here is so wonderful! We have an older Maltese (12 yrs) and recently moved to Arnold with our fur babies. Long story short... our senior dog came down with something we thought was skin rash . We walked into the clinic five minutes before they closed & the vet tech was kind enough to thoroughly evaluate her and told us it was nothing. We offered to pay for the visit but they insisted it was nothing so no charge. We will definitely be taking our fur babies back. read more

The staff is awesome doctor is beyond informative. She bends over backwards to accommodate your needs and schedule. She was so loving and helpful with our cat who recently had a kidney stone that had to pass. They worked with my budget. Previously we had to use them unfortunately to put one of our dogs down... Our Katie bear RIP. We are new to the area and they were referred to us and think God we found them and they were as kind as they are. A blessing for Arnold read more

I am highly impressed with this Husband & Wife team of vets; our foster puppy was sick while were at our cabin so I called these guys on a Saturday morning. They had no appts open but told me to come down anyway, they would find a way to see the pup. It's a very nice premises, comfortable waiting room, and they were very efficient. It's clear to me that they really care about the animals, and -crucially - made it very clear that if our puppy deteriorated further through the weekend, they would be on hand to help. This is what I call truly professional, and what I actually want from my vet in the Bay Area who I literally spend thousands of dollars with annually - yet these guys had never met us before. We will definitely be coming back, highly recommended. read more

We've owned a cabin in Arnold for going on six years. Our usual vet is in Oakland. Arnold Pet Clinic (in California, not to be confused with the one in Arnold, MD!) is spectacular. We've been four times and have received excellent care. What's more impressive is the after hours care offered by Kathy. Her help and willingness to come in on a Sunday night is true dedication. I'm going to move our dogs from our Oakland vet of 30 years to Arnold Pet Clinic. It's a very good business. read more

Had to take our 4 1/2 month Labrador for an unscheduled visit after she somehow injured her leg while being a crazy puppy. Although they were done with appointments for the day, they told us to bring her in, and gave her an extensive examination including x-rays and medications. Dr. Gatlin's attentiveness and thoroughness was amazing! She told us to call if there were any complications at all. The next morning we discovered swelling in the injured leg, called for a Saturday appointment, and were told to come right in. Once again, the compassion and attention given were more than could have been expected. We are most grateful to have found this clinic, as we generally have 2-3 silly Labradors in tow. VERY REASONABLE fees, as well! read more

I mostly took my pets to 'Mrs" Dr. Gatlin and was very happy with her care of my cat and my dog for the 4 years I took them there. I will never forget how kindly all the office handled my dog passing. Nice front desk staff as well, well run office, affordable prices, pragmatic care and all staff show genuine care for animals. I like that Dr. Gatlin supported my interest in using alternative modes of vet care (acupuncture, etc) and would give advice of when it could be helpful in my pets treatment and who I might call. I always started with her in problem solving any health issues since I trusted and valued her medical expertise to guide my choices. I'm looking for a new vet since I moved to the Bay Area. It's making me realize how much I trusted and valued their office in caring for my pets. They are on a very short list of vets I have felt that way about. read more

Dr. Cathy Gatlin is an amazing veterinarian. I see her when I'm vacationing in the mountains, so my vet visits are only when my dogs are sick or have an emergency -- none of the easy stuff. Dr. G has a gentle touch and is an amazing diagnostician. She could tell almost by sight what was wrong with my senior dog, when the veterinary ER down the hill charged 10X as much and got it wrong anyway. All paws up! :) I wish Dr. Gatlin was closer to where I live so I could take my pets to see her for the routine stuff too. She and the other Dr. Gatlin (her husband) have the best regular veterinary practice I've ever used. read more

We were renting a cabin in Arnold over the holidays, and my ten-year old daughter left a large chocolate brownie on the coffee table and our border collie ate it. We were terrified that our dog would die of chocolate poisoning and our vet was back in the East Bay. We found the Arnold Pet Clinic online and called. It was 8 pm the day after Christmas, we left a message for Dr. Gatlin and she called us back immediately to advise us on the situation. We really appreciate her responsiveness and sound advice. read more

Really great vet and facility! They really care. We are regular visitors to Arnold (a very good friend lives here) and found Dr. Gaitlin several years ago when our senior Dalmatian tore her dew claw. They saw her immediately and treated her with great compassion and effectively. We were greatly relieved at the time to have been able to have Dr. Gaitlin and her staff care for her and have sung her/their praises every since. Why am I writing this review today? I should have yelped her after our first visit but because I overlooked bringing a key medication with me for a long weekend visit, I called the clinic. Since they are normally closed on Saturday's, I called the after hours number and darned if she didn't answer the phone immediately and said she would be at the clinic in 30 minutes. I can't begin to express my gratitude for her assistance today enabling us to continue to medicate our 16 year old dog and maintain her comfort during our visit. Thank you Dr. Gaitlin. We would not consider seeing any other vet up here. read more

Fantastic pet clinic. My dog had a nail that was cracked and split, causing him pain. I stopped in at Arnold Pet Clinic to see what they could do. The vet tech came to the lobby to assess the issue, quickly took us into a room, and took care of the nail herself. She also took the time to answer all of my questions. Friendly, competent staff, plus we were in and out in less than 15 minutes! Great experience, we will be back if any new issues come up. read more

They were amazing today when we brought our pup in who'd stuck her nose in a wasps nest. They accommodated us so fast (even though they were busy!) and offered one of the vet's cell #s in case we had any questions. So grateful! read more

Dr. Cathy and the staff were very accommodating to squeeze us in just after closing hours when our labrador (and us) needed some assurances that what turned out to be a bloody ruptured oil gland on his back was nothing serious. The Doctor was great with us, explained the situation, follow up and what to watch out for before sending us on our way. Great clinic. read more

I recently got my very first dog. Her name is Sequoia and she makes me incredibly happy. I had never been to a veterinarian for anything so I went to Arnold Pet Clinic because it is closest to where I live and I had heard great things about them. Without any other experience I don't see how I could ever find a better team to help me with all my Veterinary needs. Everyone there is so kind and I can really tell that they ALL love animals. I am lucky to find such a great veterinary office on my first try! I highly recommend them. Give them a try and I'm sure you will agree with me. read more

Both Doctor's, along with their awesome and caring staff (Beth & Janine), have treated my Romeo for the last 4 yrs. On new years day Romeo had to be put down. Dr. Gatlin opened her office and selflessly gave our family the love and care that we needed to get through that very very difficult and emotional time. Romeo was cared for with such gentle hands and a loving heart. His last moments were surrounded by so much love. I will always be so appreciate to all of them. Absolutely the best place to take your pet. Cathy Gatlin along with husband Steve not only know their stuff, but Cathy is completely welcoming and friendly. They are available by cell phone day or night. My dog is wary of strangers, but loves to go to the vet. read more

Dr. Gatlin and her husband were wonderful to our dog. She swallowed a fishing hook that she found on the ground. She was rushed in and examined. They scoped her stomach and located the hook and removed it without surgery. They are very good and really care about your pet. read more

We recently adopted a 9 year old Chihuahua mix, Gino, from Muttville. We wanted to add him to the insurance we had with our other dog Nena but the insurance wanted a current exam from a vet before to insure him. We contacted Arnold Pet Clinic and Dr. Gatlin and they made us an appointment right away. Dr. Gatlin was very accommodating and went out of her way to see both our dogs that day and emailed us all the necessary information for Gino's insurance. Really nice caring people there and we recommend them highly. read more

Well, no one mentioned Janine, Dr. Cathy's long time aide and friend. We love both of them. Our Cairn, Nicholas, lived with diabetes for about 8 years, and although I wouldn't say that Dr. Cathy was totally responsible for that, her support for us got us through the ordeal. Probably the very best thing she ever did, or could do, for us was to come down the hill to our house on two occasions to put down our two old dogs who were much more comfortable in their last minutes than they would have been in her hospital. read more

We have taken our animals to Arnold Pet Clinic since I was a kid, and now my husband and I take our dogs and cat there. Our dachshund especially loves coming to the vet for the treats she gets! Dr. Cathy Gatlin is an amazing doctor and wonderful with all animals. When we had to put our family dog down in 2009, she met us at the clinic at night and did it in the back of the car so we didn't have to bring him into the vet. The rest of the staff is amazing as well and are always available to answer your questions. We live in Murphys and even though there is a closer vet, we will continue to come to Arnold Pet Clinic as long as Cathy and staff are there! read more
