Before and after repotting to my new pot!! I love it!! And so does the plant lol
    Hannah S.

I always spend way more money than I want to when I come here...they have great selections, unique decorative items and all their plants always seem so healthy and happy! The staff are always super helpful and friendly and their prices are pretty reasonable on most items. They even have ladybugs here - Which have been instrumental in ridding me of my aphid problems in the past! I've been doing some long overdue projects around my yard and Armstrong has been so handy! They're definitely smaller than other places like Home Depot and such - but I prefer their selections and they often source from local nurseries which I love! Lately they've had some really cool items - like the bird nest box and feeder made of moss and twigs - oh the birds in my yard are just gonna love it! All the plants and items I've purchased over the past 5-6 years have been excellent- everything is still in good working order and all my plants are somehow still alive - which is a miracle considering I've let my gardening go very badly for the past couple of years. Armstrong also have an indoor section with lots of gloves and fertilizers and houseplants and other things like decorations, wind chimes, hummingbird feeders and all kinds of cute things. They have plenty of parking and are in a central location near lots of other shops and things. Definitely will continue to be my go-to spot for any garden needs!

Staff are awesome; always willing to assist!

Today is the first for your coupon that you can often find online too, for 1item @ 20% off!! I love this Armstrong location; Pasadena may have more options and definitely more "cutesy", but this one is great too!

This is the replacement they offered.

Messed up our order. Took a month to replace the plant and what they gave was much smaller than what we originally purchased. We had purchased 2 salvias, 1 for each side of our yard in front of the porch. One we picked up on the day of purchase. The other was supposed to be transferred from their Sta. Monica location. We were told it would be ready in a week. When I called to follow up after a week, I was told it was expected any time (maybe even that day) and I would get call when it came in. I specifically asked them to confirm that the order was good and the plant was in fact in transit. I was assured that everything was in order. I call again a few days later, and this time I was told that actually, the transfer request was not processed correctly and that the plant had already been sold to someone else. Long story short, after several follow-ups, we were told that there was one plant in their Temecula location and it would be transferred to Monrovia. We were again told it would be a week. Almost 2 weeks and multiple follow-ups later, we were told that the plant had finally arrived. As noted above, it turns out to be much smaller than the one we had previously purchased (less than half the size). When I raised this issue, the solution offered was "well, you don't have to take this one. "Do you want to just cancel this order?" Sure, and I suppose we should just live with an imbalanced landscaping or dig up the plant we had already planted almost a month earlier (the one we had picked up on the day of purchase). Aside from the above, several times when I called to follow up I was told I would get a call back from the manager but I never did. I was always the one who needed to call again and again as no one would ever call back. Avoid this place if you can. The location in Glendora is only a few miles away and they provide much better customer service there. I will certainly not come back to this place again.

I have had this lucky bamboo for years. But it was in an ugly pot so I went to Armstrong so I could buy a new pot and maybe they would move the bamboo in the new pot.. I never would have thought to do a clear vase with black rocks but it looks awesome.. Randy was very knowledgeable and really everybody was fun and so helpful!! I am speechless which for me is difficult.. So thank you, thank you!. Please support the little business.

In celebration of Mother's Day, my mom wanted to get some herbs for our garden and we had considered Home Depot, Trader Joe's, and Lowe's Outlet (literally next door), but decided to give Armstrong a try. Seeing that my fellow Yelpers had given some positive views, I opted to check it out. I do agree with my fellow yelpers, the prices are higher than the competitors, but I am hoping that translates to a higher quality product. We decided to get a Thai Basil, Spearmint, and Cilantro plant for $4.99 each. I do think the cilantro selection was a bit small compared to the ones I have seen at Trader Joe's for $1.99, so I'm really hoping this cilantro is going to grow and flourish LOLOL. In terms of the Thai Basil, almost all of them had yellowing leaves, so we had to choose the best out of the bunch. Again, a tad bit small than I would have liked it, but I'm not entirely sure Home Depot and Lowe's has this plant. It was pretty crowded on Sunday, but the line moved fairly quickly. I asked if there were any special discounts, particularly for Mother's Day and the cashier said nope. So I paid and went on my way. After I left, I checked the website and I found out that there were discounts for seniors 60+ and veterans. Clearly, I was with my parents who would have qualified for the discount, so I was a bit irked. Look, I've been on the other customer service end and actually provided the discount if someone qualifies, ESPECIALLY for Mother's Day. Come on now, it's not that hard to make it a bit more special, especially if we went out of our way to drive all the way to Monrovia to check this place out and if I asked for a discount, it's because I'm looking for some sort of savings. I also wanted to see if there was any guarantee on the plants since I knew Lowe's has a one-year guarantee on perennials for a full year. They do offer a lifetime guarantee on trees and shrubs, but I wasn't there to buy either a tree or shrub. So again, another possible reason why I would consider Lowe's again (next door). In any case, here's to our plant babies flourishing and thriving!

Great selection on houseplants, succulents, flowers, and edibles plants! They also have tons of pots for sale! Different sizes and shapes too. Sometimes they have rarer house plants that people are looking for like the philodendron silver stripes and synonium albo! But people pick them up pretty quickly! In terms of pricing, they are on the higher end compare to Home Depot and Lowes.

Armstrong has been my go to nursery center, especially through quarantine. It's definitely smaller than Home Depot, but since COVID hit, I've been trying to avoid Home Depot as it gets really packed and the lines can get rather long. I came to purchase a handful of vegetables to grow from home (because what else are you gonna do when you're stuck at home). Their price points are a bit more expensive than Home Depot, but I truly believe that you're getting higher quality plants. I walked out with two indoor plants, a tomato plant, two bell peppers, and some herbs. With love and affection, these plants have been surviving so far. Can't wait to see them grow!

Over the years my husband and I have been coming to this Armstrong's in Monrovia. We loved the plants and had our backyard and side landscaped i 2012. So we decided to go back to them to get both sides freshen up with plants and bark. This was a mistake as Armstrong's miscalculated in how much bark we would need for both sides and the back. The job was incomplete as the amount of the bark was written up incorrectly. So I called Armstrong's several days ago and the woman who I spoke with said we still owe you bags. we weren't aware that they charge their labor with each bag. We calculated a $45/bag for a 2 cf to pour the bag into the soil. We decided to go somewhere else and so happy we did. We saved a lot of money! Customer service isn't good and they tell you things that aren't necessary true. Very very disappointed! They left the job uncompleted!

One of the prettiest flower and plant nurseries I have been too. It had quite a variety, I must say. They have perennial flowers, succulents, ferns, herbs, native sages, bonsai trees, and a variety of part sun and full sun flowers. One of my favorite items they have are the fountains. I eneded up with two new plants and one fern for our home. This place has alot to choose from and the staff is beyond nice. My family frequents this nursery and they said Melinda is AMAZING at what she does!

Just happened to pass by and see this garden/nursery and decided to stop and see what they had. I ended up purchasing yet ANOTHER milkweed plant however these specific ones (grown by Monrovia) I picked up were so full and the leaves wow!! I just had to get it even if I have about 10 of them at home.... I paid $29.99 which was the most that I've spent for them but I guess it's worth it since I'm trying to help the monarch butterflies.... Oh and I picked up some ladybugs $10.99 to help with aphids and other little pesky bugs...

Came here to buy a Fuyu persimmon tree and they had 5 left. I paid a fair price (comparable to some Asian nurseries I go to). The guy at the register wasn't all that helpful because I had to wrap up the container in plastic myself. He just gave me the plastic bag and said Thanks. They have a good selection of trees here. They must've had at least 30 small lemon trees here. I recommend them.

As we work remotely, we have a little time to think of our gardens to work outside and enjoy a little stimulus from Mother Nature. As I was looking at what improvements I can make, I came across a Tasmanian Tree Fern, which needed to be planted with some loving care and nutrients. Being an acid-loving plant, I bought some fertilizers, planting mix and some other some other goodies for the garden. I enjoy coming to this location, as it's much larger than most Armstrong Garden Centers, and we were in the area. COVID-19 planning is better at this location than others, so be aware of the floor signs for social distancing. Come to Armstrong if you want a higher end product.

We had our hands full with leftovers, the boy, and the dog so we were firmly in the browse zone. Then Vik jumps in the mix, calls the boy kiddo and asks if he wants to pet some fish. At this point, I'm intrigued and want to see where this goes, and you know what? He pet some of the koi fish in the pond, I have to admit I haven't seen that before (Kiddo was too scared to try). But THEN he starts telling us about these two plants next to the pond -- Mexican Mint and Sage -- and how their smell repels mosquitos. Kiddo has a huge bug bite on his leg, so the sale was pretty much instant. I planted them in my backyard this afternoon. So, this four star review is a five because of Vic and his kid charming skills. Four stars is because I wish they had a few more native options, but I'll go back because Vik made the experience.

We hired them for a full backyard Reno with full wall of ficus trees, full DG backyard with gravel edges, and a wood fence. Everything was going smoothly with scheduling and communication. When the actual work got started, I noticed the DG was not high-quality. It contained a lot of large rocks. Also, they were not digging out enough dirt before laying the DG. I had to bring that up to the foreman and they did dig up some more dirt before laying the DG. When the work was done, a foreman did a quick walk-through with me and I thought everything looked good. We were told not to walk on the wet DG for a day or two. So two days later when I did a better inspection, I started to notice a lot of shotty work. Specifically with the bender board dividing the gravel and I noticed that they used really small nails for the wooden fence. They did come back a month later to fix the DG because there were areas that were "bouncy", as if not enough DG was laid down. They had to dig up big rocks that were preventing the DG from compacting and they laid more DG on some areas. They also tried to fix some bender board problems, but they did a really horrible job. Three months later, some wood planks on our wood fence start curving and popping up. I called the company because our DG and our fence are under a year warranty. Jake asked me to email him with photos and he said he would call back to schedule a day for repair. Since then I have not heard back from them; they have completely ghosted me. I waited a month then I started calling and no one will pick up the phone. I've left messages and I sent text messages to project manager, Amanda, who was great at communication at first, but now has completely ghosted me as well. Meanwhile, we're still paying monthly for this backyard that is falling apart way too quickly. I'm going to just hire someone to fix the fence before it damages further. I would not recommend them again. Completely overpriced for what you get.

We got a very cute little money tree for $10 inside a cute pot! We went to another nursery and saw the same size trees/smaller than the ones at Temple for about the same price but sold without a nice ceramic pot, so this was definitely a better buy here. We also got this really cute little bamboo that was also sold within a nice ceramic pot for about $10. When we got to the register we saw the same bamboo in the same pot behind the register, but it looked healthier. I said to my boyfriend, "Do you think we should ask to get that one instead?" The cashier overheard and grabbed the nicer bamboo and got it ready for us! He even grabbed some of the stalks from the other bamboo plant we originally grabbed and transplanted it into our new pot to give us even more/make it look bigger and nicer. Again, he did all this without us even asking or saying anything so this was super nice!! They also have cheap pots here that are very traditional chinese looking with the painted flowers and birds. We bought a beautiful pot for only $9 here with a cute little drip tray that almost looked like a teacup saucer at restaurants. They also had some $3 small pots that would be great for succulents. The pots were kinda dirty and covered in spiderwebs, but honestly the price was good and they were still in great condition so i didnt care LOL They had some funny little animal pots too with frogs and elephants. This place was cute and affordable and the staff was nice to us, so id go back again! Just wish i had a yard so i could get some of these fruit trees! Parking was easy. They have a little lot, but the spots are a little tight. It wasn't an issue, though! They also take credit card here.
