Wow wow wow. What a magical spot. I came on a Sunday with my mom hoping to find some inspiration for our yard (and seeking a California sage) and we were not disappointed. Got a mature climbing fuschia (at least 4-5 ft tall) and a 5 gal sage for just $40. I saw later that it's cash only, so we lucked out there. Unfortunately, my Spanish isn't very good, so if you speak it, you'll be golden in terms of asking more specific questions. The young woman working was super helpful. Please buy from this place so it sticks around! It's a fantastic alternative to Home Depot and even the larger nearby nurseries like the one in San Gabriel. read more

They definitely have a green thumb. Lots and lots and lots and....of plants everywhere! Looks like they propagate a lot of it themselves. Plenty of baby plants and the prices are reasonable (most cheaper than stores). I just had the BEST experience wit Niri at Gonzalez Nursery on Duarte Rd. Stopped in in a Friday with some specific questions on plants for my yard. The owner suggested that I come back on Sunday to meet his daughter, Niri. What a gem. She was lovely , friendly and very knowledgeable. Gave me lots of options and listened to what we liked. Although it's a small place , they had a lot of choices. Niri guided me through and gave me lots of advise on plant care. They are going to deliver, and plant all the bushes for way less than Home Depot or Garden View would've charged just for plants! It pays to shop local! 5 stars!! read more

They have some unique plants and succulents that aren't available at major garden centers. This place is great. It's a small atmosphere, but there is a lot of selection. Indoor house plants towards the back. Came during covid and yes wear a damn mask. The prices are great compared to two other nurseries I went to. The owner's daughter (sorry I forgot her name) was really friendly, knowledgeable, and just really cool. This place is a little gem. I bought a bougainvillea tree (15 gal pot), lavendar (15 gal pot), succulent (beautiful, full, healthy - 5 gal pot), and lantana (5 gal pot) - total price $88 - think you could get that at a commerial nursery? The lady who helped me was very helpful and made excellent recommendations for my balcony garden - explaining that being in full sun, plants would bake because of the walls of the balcony + hot floor of the balcony, and that draught tolerant plants were best. Bonus is the beautiful colors of the plants I bought, which I know from past experience will thrive where they're placed in full sun. As you drive on Duarte Rd., you have to be alert to find the place tucked in between larger buildings. But it is street-facing with parking on the street in front - no curbs in this section of the street, so you might overlook it. But it is there, and it is my new go-to place for healthy plants at an excellent price! read more

I came here looking for some plants that would purify the air in my room. They have a lot of varieties of plants and the workers are very knowledgeable! Prices are very fair especially compared to everywhere else. Make sure to bring cash because they are cash only! You should also bring your own plastic bags because they are small family owned and they have bags because people donate them and bring them. I was very surprised by the high ratings this nursery received, upon my arrival. It's a very small nursery, very crowded. The walkway was very narrow and had to make a real effort to get around. I tried to check out the rose bushes, but too much blockage to get to it. The prices were high. read more

You need to know that is a small place with a limited selection before you go there. The nice photos of the plants submitted by other yelpers do not give you this impression. The area is maybe 25-30 feet wide (think 2 good sized bedrooms with a hallway in between) and 75-90 feet deep (the length of a house property). Parking is limited to where you can find on the street. The owner seems nice and helpful but the prices appeared average, not competitive. However, if you travel east for about 15 minutes, there is a much larger garden nursery in Glendora with a better selection of plants and they are just as helpful and friendly. Personally, I need space to lay out plants to see how the leaves, flowers, colors, and textures work together, it is difficult to do that at this nursery because the open/bare ground is limited to the walkway and entrance area. Overall, this is what you can consider a small humble place to be - support this local business if you can. read more

The father and daughter combo who run it are gracious and their plants/trees are healthy and more-than reasonable in price. The greater Pasadena area boasts a dozen excellent nurseries but I only buy is Gonzalez doesn't have the particular thing I'm looking for. I first found Gonzalez Nursery's gorgeous plants at the Claremont Farmers Market and was so impressed. As a floral designer, I've seen many a bloom and plant in my career and I have to say their plants are absolutely amazing. From roses to mint, apple and avocado trees, to succulents and eucalyptus trees, this place has an amazing selection and amazing prices. Every last one of the over 25 plants I have purchased has thrived. They're extremely knowledgeable and the sweetest family. Came here a few days without knowing what to expect but left pleasantly with two beautiful plants. The lady (so sorry I forgot her name) who helped me was super nice and knowledgeable. I am quite scared to grow anymore plants because I had a super dark thumb. She patiently answered every single question I had and gave me a lot of great advice. She is a horticulturist who will also provide consultations for a really reasonable fee. I bought two 5-gallon draught resistant plants in incredible price and she helped me load them to the car and even placed newspaper below them to keep things clean. On 5/8/19 I ordered 20 - 5 gallon Bougainvillea four of which were purple. Viti took my original order and was very helpful. I paid $400.00 up front and picked up my order on 5/11/19. I was very pleased but I did notice two of the purple were weak looking. I called today 5/17/19 and asked to replace the two but was told there were no returns or exchanges. I was so surprised. Spend $400.00 and cannot exchange two bad plants. I was never told I could not exchange bad stuff and nothing on the receipt. This is really bad because all they had to do was return them to the grower. Be sure your plants are fresh when you order a large amount. Nice Place, Vidi was terrific but bad plants. This is seriously a tiny hidden gem in the city of Duarte. I would agree that the lot is somewhat tiny and a little cramped. But honestly the prices aren't bad at all. I rated it 4 Stars mostly due to there not being a ton of variety but the owner is super nice. It's an alright place. 3-5 gallon rose bush is cheaper than other nursery places but they look rather frail. When we asked them to take some of the roses out for us to see they didn't like that. They only took out 2 instead of 4 (well I wanted 2 different colors wanted to compare them what was wrong with that?!) and their place is very tight too not like I can inspect the rose bushes very clearly. When I did a little more research I cane to find out it's actually a plant called yellow archangel. It is an extremely invasive plant, that vigorously spreads.
