I've been taking my two daughters to this clinic for years and I would rate this a 5 stars business. Even though we live in Woodbridge, VA and we have many good doctors around here, I don't mind driving all the way to Arlington, VA, I'm sure my kids are in good hands and they always receive the best dental treatment in DC metro area. The place is very clean, neat, organized and they work with a very good quality equipment. All doctors are very professional, answer all my questions and provide me the options for the treatment. Their office staff are very helpful as well, I never had any issue with appointments, they always find a time that would fit my busy schedule and they always contact me a day before the appointments to confirm it, which is a big plus. We took our son here for his first dental appointment and it went smoothly. What did not go smoothly was the parking. The street is completely torn up in front of the building making it difficult to park nearby. We had an early morning appointment and were quickly ushered back upon completion of the new patient forms. The dental hygienist was very friendly and really good with our son. I sat on the chair with him and he sat on my lap. We saw Dr. Cruz after the teeth cleaning. He was fine, not particularly good or bad with our son. We scheduled for six months and plan to continue as long as it's convenient to where we live. read more

Friendly and professional. The Doctors, assistants and staff are great to work with! They also know how to work with young kids. The environment was clean and there were plenty of pictures for kids to look at. After the visit, there are even kid prizes! This place traumatized my 9-year-old special needs son. He needed a few fillings and was so upset during the procedure he was spitting and thrashing uncomfortably. The dentist showed no empathy, bedside manner or willingness to be patient or connect with him. Instead she told me I should have given him his ADHD medicine that day and it would have been easier. I switched to Dr Delaney and she was AMAZING. She connects with kids and calms them prior to drilling, this gaining their trust. He willingly goes in for appts now and has gotten over the trauma from Arlington Pediatric Dentistry. Avoid this place if your kid is on the spectrum, has sensory issues, etc. read more

Our first time at the dentist for my 28months old baby girl. Office is very clean and kids friendly. Plenty of entertainment for the little ones. Staff were very professional and friendly. My only comment is for the person who cleaned my daughter's teeth. She was professional and simple but my issue was, when my daughter started crying bc clearly this is her first visit at a dentist and being touched by stranger. She got down to my daughter level and put her finger on her lips and said " shhhh you're scaring the other girl over there". The other girl was already crying hysterically before they started on my girl and continued after. I didn't appreciate that at all. Other than that it was good experience. read more

Love this place! They handle my 5 year old great. They are patient and very kind and my daughter loves it. Makes the experience for her much more comfortable and enjoyable. I came here for a second opinion for my son a few years ago. Since then I've been going here for 3-4 years now. My two children now 11yrs and 6yrs old have great experience. They've never had a filling done, but their cleaning have gone great. My son is doing his orthodontist treatment here. My daughter (6yrs) was scared the visit few times about the xrays. So I told the staff members she was not going to have X-rays done once I saw my daughter getting upset. My daughter now enjoys and looks forward into going to the dentist and getting her teeth clean. She even finally felt comfortable enough to have her xrays done. Always be an advocate for your child if they cry or are scared at the dentist. If you or your child feel uncomfortable ask the staff to stop and ask questions to make your child feel more comfortable for the next visit. The dentist shouldn't be a traumatic experience be your child advocate. The wait time is just like any other doctor office. Wait a few minutes to get called. Also wait for the dentist to do the final check after the hygienist. They're always busy but I've never felt rushed and the dentist always has time to answer all my questions. I've worked at a dental office years ago so my expectations are high when choosing a dentist especially for my children. read more

So my experience with my toddler here was a little scary. Dr. Carlos M. Cruz-Chu diagnosed that because of the decay in my 2.5-year old's two front teeth he might need to extract them both. The Dr. wouldn't know for sure until he started to drill the teeth. My wife and I thought this was a little drastic. After a lot of research into well-regarded pediatric dentists in this area, we found someone to take my son to for a second opinion. Turns out this Dr. couldn't believe that Dr. Cruz-Chu thought my son might need his teeth extracted. In fact, she said it was minor decay toward the bottom of his teeth that would take 10-15 mins to treat. I can only imagine how many toddlers in Arlington are unnecessarily walking around without two front teeth. read more

Love, love, love this practice as well as their adult office on the same block. Our kids have been to APD as long as they were old enough to start seeing the dentist (my oldest is 18). The staff are professional, great with the kids genuine, and currently practicing excellent COVID protocols to ensure everyone's safety. I trust them and have never felt they suggest unnecessary work. They also have an orthodontist on staff who is knowledge and competent. I've had two kids proceed with orthodontic work. Again, no work done unless necessary and even use a wait a see approach before moving forward. They are usually able to fit my kids in for a timely appt if something urgent comes up. read more

I don't ever see any of the employees wash their hands when they walk in and also wear gloves from patient room to go to another room to take stuff. I've used them for a few years now, but there seems to always be some kind of issue, whether is booking an appointment, the insurance contract they have. the staff. I have tried to make an appointment for my children and they're always "booked" I try to tell them that i need an appointment because my children are way overdue for a cleaning and they say that they know this however they don't have any appointments available, I have to wait almost a month? they seem to get offended if you ask for help. When a child starts crying during dental treatment, the right course of action is to stop what you're doing. Not use their crying as an opportunity to jam dental tools in their mouth. I had previously given this place a 5 star review based on the wonderful first experience we had. The first time my kids went here for a cleaning, we had an amazing hygienist who took her time and carefully explained everything she was doing. That hygienist was able to get x-rays, complete a cleaning, apply fluoride, and get the doctor to do an exam. No tears. The second time we went, the hygienist just went to town without explaining what she was doing. My 6 year-old started to cry and asked her to stop. She didn't stop. She kept going, using my child's crying as an opportunity to get in her mouth! When my child tried to sit up because she was coughing on her tears and her saliva, the hygienist pushed her shoulder back down into the chair and shoved the instruments back in her mouth saying, "we're almost done." How can you get your teeth cleaned when you're crying? You can't! Tell your hygienists to do better. These are young children, and thanks to this hygienist, my child is now scared of the dentist. This is the worst dental practice I've ever been involved with. Not so much for the dentistry, but for the abysmal customer service. Our appointment was for a Friday afternoon. About a week or two in advance, I called to confirm. I was assured that my appointment was on the books. When I showed up for the appointment, having taken off work and gotten a babysitter for my other child, the office was closed. What the hell? I called back on Monday, hoping for an apology. Instead, the receptionist told me it was my fault, and that they had left me a message. If I had gotten a message, I can assure you that I wouldn't have taken off work and gone to the appointment. Then, at least a year after the last time we had our only visit, I find out my account has been sent to collection over a $20 copay that they say they billed 6 months after the visit. (Why not just collect the copay at the visit?) I have called and stopped by in person to clear this up but no one will call me back. I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone. I made an appointment here for grandson and they said they couldn't see us for going on three months! First RED FLAG. When we got there I was told that the dentist couldn't see us because my son, the legal guardian of my grandson could not be there with him and hadn't signed the paperwork they required. Well, they had months to tell us that this was their rule but didn't. SECOND RED FLAG! They could have emailed us this information along with the forms so we could have everything ready and were clear on their rules on our very first visit. THIRD RED FLAG. They could have told me when I initially made the appointment over the phone but failed to mention this. FOURTH RED FLAG. They could have posted this fact on their website: "First time patients please be advised that the parent or legal guardian must be present during your child's first visit to our office." Easy to do right? FIFTH RED FLAG. I have taken my grandson for medical and dental treatment at medical offices, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals and emergency rooms and this is the first time I have been refused service or accommodations made in regards to the paperwork. SIXTH RED FLAG. They did allow me to try and call my son to see if he could come over to the office but I was unable to reach him. When I told then that I thought their negligence in not informing me of their rules was terrible customer service a man who was wearing scubs, was incredibly rude to me and kept telling me to keep my voice down because he obviously didn't want other people to hear what I had to say. I wasn't yelling, but I was upset since I had waited so long to get this appointment and for their failure to inform me in a timely fashion of their rules. These people do not know how to take care of prospective customers which makes me think that they also do not know how to take care of you once they begin treatment. All in all I had a very bad experience with these people and would never recommend their services to anyone. My time is just as valuable as theirs and this whole experience was a real waste of my time. Bottom line: look elsewhere for your child read more

I rarely write the reviews, but I felt that I need to warn people- look elsewhere! We've been coming here since my son was 2 and each time our experience was worst than previous. Even if you arrive early for your appointment (which we always did) you have to wait at least 30 minutes, then the hygienist does the cleaning and you have to wait another 20 minutes for the 30 second doctor check up! Absolutely in love with this office! My family just relocated to the area and my children were in need of their check ups. I called this past Monday and Anthony was superb! He scheduled all three for Thursday and emailed me all the necessary paperwork so we would be all set. The office is beautiful and very child friendly, that makes it less intimidating for children. Found the front desk staff, hygienists, and dentists to be stellar. They are friendly, informative, and knowledgeable. However, the billing coordinator and office manager are the reason my family won't return. Long story short, our insurance, which provides coverage to millions of federal employees, covers a certain type of x-ray. The front desk staff and hygienist specifically advised the x-ray was covered. However, they either performed the incorrect x-ray or were misinformed. My insurance covers a "complete series of intraoral x-rays" yet an "intraoral radiograph" was performed. Regardless, the billing coordinator refused to investigate the matter further and advised it didn't matter if we were misinformed, we were responsible. I advised I would consult with my wife and we may consider leaving practice. The office manager Renata then reached out to me, provided a lecture about dental insurance, and removed our family from the practice because in the future we may opt for x-rays consistent with our insurance plan, which is not what their office recommends. Based on my community group feedback on facebook, the practice appears to have consistent issues with x-rays and insurance, and always puts the responsibility on the Guarantor. read more
