He takes the time to hear my concerns and explain what he recommends and why. He gives appropriate eye contact and makes me feel like he has all the time I need to address my concerns. His office is bright, clean, neat, inviting and interactive. He has considered patients of all ages and the parents who may spend time in his waiting room. His staff is friendly and welcoming. I feel appreciated and like a member of the family. I highly recommend Dr. Larson particularly to patients who have not had positive experiences and/or are nervous about the process.

The appointment went well... the treatment coordinator was great with my daughter. However, it got to the part of explaining and things went downhill. First, they didn't have my daughter's pano from the dentist (who is a major referrer) we we sat there for 15-20 minutes waiting for that to come through by email. It never did. I asked the treatment coordinator and Dr Larson why they didn't have it set up that if someone was referred in from a major referrer they would automatically send over the pano? He explained that not all administrative staff are technically competent enough to handle such a task. I basically looked at him like he was crazy but it was here nor there, they told me they would have it by the next appointment where we get our treatment plan. Sounds good. Well, then we got into the next appointment and it got confusing. The treatment coordinator was unclear about the process required. She ended up offering to send me a breakdown of the plan via email and I told her that would be very helpful. I made the next appointment. A few weeks later, my referring dentist's office called me and asked if I had gone in for my ortho appt yet (yes, I had) and if I was happy or if I was interested in seeing a different orthodonist (I said it went fine and that I had a follow up appt w/ Dr Larson a few weeks from then)... They said great thanks, hung up... life went on. So, the day of her second appointment, where she was scheduled to get impressions and more x-rays, I got an email a few hours before it letting me know the next few steps and that there would be a 395$ records fee. I emailed them back and told them I didn't appreciate the email a few hours prior to the appointment and wanted to know if my insurance would cover any of the records fee. About an hour and a half later, I got a call from Dr Larson. Dr Larson stated that he didn't feel our first appointment went well and that he was surprised I had scheduled to come in for a follow up. I told him I had no doubt in his abilities to treat my daughter. He continued to talk about how he had called Dr Austin to make sure I didn't want a second opinion. Interesting, because I hadn't even got his opinion yet (that doesn't happen until appointment #3). I let him know that I was disappointed that the treatment coordinator told me she would email me that day (of the 1st appt) that she would email me the next few steps) and that I didn't get them until today. He said "well I told her to wait because I didn't think you would come back". He continued to tell me that he felt like his office had dropped the ball with me too many times and thought I should go get a second opinion. After much debating with me about how he thinks I feel, I told him I would take him up on his offer to get a second opinion. WOW! Apparently that is how you run a business now-a-days. So, if you go see Dr Larson's office in Alexandria, make sure you don't question any of his processes. I wouldn't recommend it. This whole processes wasted two months.

I believe the communication, and professionalism was at an all time low when it came time to pay me. I worked a 4 hour shift, and at the end I was given the option to be paid electronically, or by mail. I chose by mail because the office manager Brianna seemed busy, and I needed to leave. I gave her my contact information and went on about my day. I called a week later to confirm they had received my contact info, so that I could get paid. After some time of chasing them Brianna finally told me my info had been received. I called three weeks later, because I still hadn't received anything in the mail. It took me time to hear back from them and then finally I was able to get another office manager on the phone named Jocelyn. They always gave me the run around when I called stating one of the managers weren't in, or would be in a meeting all day. Jocelyn told me she would contact Brianna to reach out to me for an update on my check. Jocelyn also collected my information, and expressed she'd reach out to whoever is in charge of finances. I patiently waited a few more days to hear from someone, although it had already been over a month since I had worked for them. I ended up calling back, asking for yet another update. The front desk Claudia said she would transfer me to talk to Jocelyn. I was left on hold until the call dropped. I had to call back, and Jocelyn answered this time. I explained my frustrations and how I was tired of being sent from person to person all for money I was owed. I exclaimed it shouldn't have to take a month for me to get paid for 4 hours worth of work. I let them know if they were in my position they would be doing the same exact thing I'm doing, and how they absolutely wouldn't be okay with not being paid. I let them know I have a family to feed, and they're messing with my livelihood! People work hard for their money, and the same urgency they have with hiring their employees should be the same urgency they have to pay their employees. Jocelyn said someone told her I had already been paid. I reminded her of the previous conversations I had with Brianna. She asked me to give her a moment, and left me on hold until the call dropped. I called back, and when I did Claudia spoke with me, and I got the impression that she wasn't going to transfer me to any of the higher ups anymore. Whenever I asked I was given a reason for why they couldn't come to the phone. So, I let her know that what they're doing is not okay, and if running from the problem is their solution then so be it. I told her I've been kind, and patiently waiting just to be paid. But I won't let them take my kindness for weakness any longer. I explained either they're going to pay me, or the department of labor will be contacting them about paying me. Either way I was going to get paid. I told Claudia she can do whatever she wants with that information. Low, and be hold after the call ended they called me back 4 minutes later. They were now willing and surprisingly ready to write me a check, but I'd have to come and pick it up. It took me having to threaten them in order for them to see how serious paying their employees are. I believe no job applicant deserves to be treated this way. I hope this office takes my feedback into consideration for future candidates. God bless, and have a great day.

Dr. K is a grifter unfortunately: in a ten minute consult he told me that 1) my teeth were being ground down so needed a mouth guard 2) my gums were receding and required orthodontic consult 3) I would probably have cavities next time I got there because of the shape of my molars 4) I had concerning gingivitis due to LIGHT bleeding 5) that a small tooth chip from probably 15 years ago was due to some of these issues 6) I should get my wisdom teeth out. At every other dentist I've gone to I've never felt so buffeted by an endless stream of blah-blah "must act now!" diagnosis -- every other dentist has said my teeth is fine. And my teeth ARE and FEEL fine, but according to this dentist, I couldn't trust how I felt. But the thing that makes me confident this guy is full of it is that, when he was describing my teeth grinding, he said, "what about the headaches you told me about?" when I had never disclosed this symptom to him (because I have not had this symptom!) Sorry insurance isn't reimbursing you enough bud, but I am taking my business elsewhere. If I were an easier mark I would have paid thousands extra to make these fixes for problems that don't exist. Whatever! God bless bud!

But the bigger problem was getting Invisalign from Dr. Townes -- what a nightmare. She shaved a gap between my front teeth, saying that they would push back together once the overcrowding of the side teeth pulled out. I had a horrible feeling letting her do this; my intuition, which I didn't listen to, was warning me this would be a permanent issue. When the diagnosis was that it would only take 5 months of treatment, I thought that also seemed rushed. Sure enough at the end (and I wore the trays religiously), the teeth were not fully pushed out and the gap is still visible. PLUS, I kept paying the practice for services and banging on their door to deliver them! I paid for the Invisalign in full, and then had to actually show up in the office after two months and ask them when my treatment would start. Every time I would call they'd put me off. Same thing happened with my retainer. I plopped down $350 for the retainer, which I thought may help correct what was still wrong with my teeth. They said it would take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive. At 3 weeks I called. Again, they kept putting me off! I was worried about all my money and effort being thrown out the window because I had no maintenance. So when over a month had gone by I went to the office to complain...again. And they still hadn't ordered it!!!! I talked to the dentist directly; she seemed absolutely clueless as to what was going on with me (dental "care" - wow). Whenever I would call the desk staff would ask me about my "treatment plan" as if they have absolutely no patient records on file. WTF??? It was two months by the time they gave me my retainer, the day before I was about to leave the country for three months. And, of course -- it didn't fit!! The bottom one didn't fit AT ALL because my teeth had shifted so much in the wait, so I just threw that away, and top one just fits around the front teeth and hangs off the back rendering it uncomfortable and probably ineffective. They offered to order me a new one when I got back. What a joke. And throughout all of this, they would call me nearly every two weeks, trying to schedule me for cleanings $$. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!!
