Beyond Dental is in a very convenient beautiful location

Very detail oriented. Explained every thing. Forms came by email. I utilized the text reminders they sent. Staff was efficient, professional and informative. Cleanliness surpassed my expectations. State of the art equipment. Left very satisfied. Payment plans are allowed. Highly recommend.

    Waiting for our ortho consult

We brought our kiddos here as new patients and the staff were awesome. The facility itself is very nice and modern. The dentist Dr Lee was super friendly and so was our hygienist. We also got to do a free consult with the orthodontist. Dr Wan was also very friendly. He was quick and efficient with his recommendations. My son really enjoyed seeing his 3D X-ray. It honestly was very cool. I highly recommend this dentist office. The only downside I can mention is you do have to pay for parking if you can't find street parking. Other than that, it was awesome.

Alexandria Pediatric Dentistry - Post cleaning session with Dr. Lopez!

My daughter had a dental appointment here this week, and it occurred to me that she has been a…read morepatient since 2019. This office has truly been the ideal dental home for her. Dr. Lopez and Mary have consistently created an experience that is welcoming, calm, and easy for the both of us. Mary has always felt like family. She greets my daughter with genuine warmth, keeps scheduling seamless, and makes sure our insurance information is always accurate and up to date. Her consistency and kindness have made every visit smooth. Dr. Lopez is wonderful to talk to and has a gift for making the dentist feel approachable--even fun. Because of him and the hygienists, my daughter has grown so comfortable here, that at 9 years old, she confidently advocates for herself and shares her own concerns about her teeth. This level of care has been steady since 2019. We've never had a single negative experience. I only wish they accepted adult patients too.

While the doctor was excellent, the front desk experience--specifically with Mary--was extremely…read moreunprofessional and is the reason for this rating. I received a confirmation call at 3:59 p.m. for an 8:00 a.m. appointment the following morning. I initially confirmed, then immediately reviewed my schedule and realized I could not attend. I called back at 4:01 p.m., but the office was already closed, so I left a voicemail right away to cancel. The next morning around 8:20 a.m., I received a call from Mary, the secretary, that was confrontational and scolding in tone. I was told my actions were "unacceptable," repeatedly lectured about the 48-hour cancellation policy, and spoken to as though I were personally responsible for broader scheduling issues and other patients not showing up. When I asked why my only real-time communication about this appointment occurred one minute before closing, Mary responded dismissively that a reminder text had been sent weeks earlier. Given the timing, that text could have been sent during major holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), winter break, or during recent weather closures--making it very easy to miss or forget. Relying on a single text weeks in advance and then reprimanding a patient is unreasonable. I understand office policies and operational stress, but patients should still be treated with professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, the front desk experience overshadowed an otherwise positive visit, and I doubt I will be returning.

However, my anxiety was immediately out at ease when we visited Alexandria Children's Dentistry. First thing's first, we booked our appointment online! I cannot tell you how much I LOVE being able to find out which insurance companies a place accepts, booking an appointment, and completing forms ONLINE. It simplifies my life and allows me to handle tasks at midnight when I remember. Anyway, our visit was great. When we walked in, we were greeted by super friendly employees. They got us checked in and escorted my kid over to the kid's theater. She settled in and got comfy and before I knew it, they called her back. One thing I didn't love (but understood) was the fact that parents can't go back with their kids - you're expected to wait in the lobby. I've never experienced this elsewhere. My kid was fine, but I would've liked to see and ask questions and I recognize not all kids would be good with that. I'm not sure it depends on the age either, as a friend of mine had her very young daughter there for tooth extractions and she was asked to stay upfront. That does not detract from the great service, however, and the fact that my kid came out smiling. Kids get a little treasure at the end, which is super cute. Ohhhh, also want to mention that I LOVE how incredibly diverse the team at this office is. It's so nice to see people of all backgrounds working in concert.

It's rushed, it's marketing and targeting. Feels more out for money than dentistry. I expressed my concerns with photos of how dirty it is here to the office. Do I hear 6 stars?! Yes…read more Dr. Skordalakis is an excellent dentist - smart! knows what he's doing! - and he is exceptionally calm and gentle with children (actually, with everyone). He will refer you to another dentist/specialist if he feels the situation may (may) be outside of his "I've got this" zone. He clearly cares a lot about consistency, because every member of his team is courteous, competent and engaging. If you are seriously considering a new dentist for your children, or your child's first dentist, then you really should try Dr. S. You will not be disappointed. He's kind of like the "dog whisperer" of pediatric dentistry.

Kids always get a coin for a job well done - even the sibling tag alongs. I usually take all kids at once and they try to make it time efficient - each kid gets their own hygienist so they get cleaned at the same time. Then dr. S will meet all 3 kids to give me a run down. Time saver! What I really love about him is that I can be honest with my "granola" ways and he's not one to roll his eyes at me. He doesn't encourage X-rays because of radiation exposure, he's ok that i choose fluoride free for the kids because he's seen flourosis and is very conservative regarding usage. I've also asked about the diy toothpastes and he said "ok, give it a try and let's see how your kids teeth look". He's willing to try new things and if he doesn't know something he'll be honest with you (I asked him about myobrace and he didn't know what it was). There aren't any holistic dentists in the area that will take insurance so we stick with regular dentists but among them I'd say dr s is the best. He lets me, as mom, make the final choice and encouraged me when he sees that I'm trying my best. (I just wish I can find myself a dentist like him!) If I had a "con" it'd be that I don't like that they diffuse essential oils in their foyer area. I'm not against it, just a very conservative user bc children with allergies could possibly react to it (nowadays you never know who's allergic to what). But thankfully none of my kids have reacted and it's less than a 5-10 minutes wait so it's not worth the fight for me.
