We just finished our pool project and credit where credit is due, they did a really amazing job. They made the useless hole in my backyard into something enjoyable. I did a ton of homework before picking someone. Got multiple bids and, because I'm apparently that guy now, ran them all through AI to compare scope, materials, equipment, legal and what was actually included. ARK came in more mid-range. Not the cheapest and not the most expensive, which honestly is probably where you want to be on a project like this. There are always guys out there throwing out low numbers just to get you to sign. Then once the job starts, the real number shows up and every little thing becomes a hiccup or a change order. I did not want some cowboy contractor selling me a $30k dream on what was clearly an $80k plus job. Not a fan of bullshit. Tim was great on the front end. 6 bids and he was the only one who followed up..... (this is where the review ends) _________________ ok some more... Tim reworked the scope and estimate a few times before locking everything in, and he was fair through that process. I'm sure I asked too many questions, but never felt like I was being the annoying guy. Alex is also the owner, which showed. He was regularly on site, knew where the project stood, and was very aware of timing and keeping things moving. That mattered because once your backyard is torn up, you want someone who understands the clock is running. April was helpful with the office side, material pulls, and communication. The crew deserves a lot of credit too. Clean, respectful, tidy, and quality work. When adjustments were needed, they made them. No big drama. No weird pushback. Just handled it and kept going. That matters a lot once your backyard is ripped apart. We also added a firepit remodel into the project and that came out great too. It tied in really well with the pool materials and made the whole backyard feel finished. Tim got the equipment side dialed in as well. Electrical, heater, plumbing, auto fill, Hayward equipment, app setup, all of it. They even tied my existing lighting into the app, so now everything is clean and easy to control from one place. Startup service was solid. Chris got the pool going, explained what needed to be done, and made that part easy. I'm posting some raw no-frills photos and a few cleaned up ones, but either way the work speaks for itself. The materials came together great, the yard was kept clean, and the final product is exactly the upgrade we were hoping for. From the start, April was a total pleasure to work with as she handled scheduling our free estimate quickly and was so accommodating and responsive in her communication. When Tim came out to survey the job, it was clear he really knew his stuff. He noticed small air bubbles coming from one of the return lines and, instead of brushing it off, suggested we do a leak detection test because he suspected a skimmer leak (which was verified via said test). We were able to bundle the skimmer replacement into the overall project and even get a price match, thanks to his suggestion. He was also incredibly patient while we asked a lot of clarifying questions...never pushy, just helpful and honest. He later walked us through using our new pump, offering useful tips and guidelines. We ultimately hired them to do the following: replaster with a stonescape pebble finish (included chemical start-up), new mastic, waterline/step tile replacements, variable rate pump installation, and skimmer replacement. Once the project kicked off, the on-site crew (led by Alex) absolutely shined. Alex is one of those rare people who is both a strong leader and is also deeply hands-on. He and his team were diligent, pleasant, and meticulous in a way I don't often see with large home projects. They completed the job in roughly two weeks, and the day-by-day progress went roughly like: Day 1: Drained the pool Day 2: Demolished the old plaster Day 3: Replaced the skimmer, reset coping, added waterproofing Day 4: Retiled our waterline tiles and rebarred the skimmer (ensuring no leaks via pressure test) Day 5: Installed the new pump, added tile grout, added mastic Day 6: Sandblasted and replastered Day 7-8: Acid wash + refill Day 9: Chemical startup + filter cleaning Day 10: Installed a check valve, free of charge Throughout the entire process, Alex's crew came across as genuinely invested in the quality of their work. They were tidy, deliberate, and unbelievably thorough. They cleaned debris before applying mastic, waterproofed before tiling, and left us extra tile/grout in case we ever need it. When assembling the new tile layout, Alex checked in with us first to confirm spacing and pattern, something we really appreciated as it ensured the final look matched exactly what we envisioned. Their workmanship was excellent, and their pricing was very reasonable compared to other companies we quoted. My one critique is that the chemical startup service was subcontracted out. The cleaner who handled it wasn't nearly as careful as the main team. Despite the plastering instructions recommending constant water-balance checks and daily brushing, that didn't really happen, which led to some minor discoloration in some areas. Definitely not a dealbreaker (this is one line item of 10). After posting this review, Alex actually reached out and personally came over to successfully remove the stain, proving immediately that he stands by the quality of his work! Nonetheless, the main crew and Alex were amazing: kept us updated every step of the way, were always available for questions, and even shared extra care tips after the job was done. We're first-time pool owners and our pool was in need of some love after years of neglect! Water is a homeowner's worst enemy so I made sure to do my homework. I met with 5 pool contractors that I picked from Yelp reviews and word of mouth. Alex, Tim, and April at Ark Pool Plaster were quick to reach out and were one of the first to come out and they blew us away with their knowledge and experience. I did my due diligence and got more quotes to get an idea of what was out there, but I always came back to the professionalism and expertise of the Ark team. I wanted to be sure that work on my pool was done correctly the first time, and I wanted to feel like the company we went with for this project cared about the pool as if it was their own. When it came to making the decision, it was an easy choice. The team was able to start in the beginning of February and finished up mid-March (with a few extra weeks for the pool start up). The first week flew by and the team made short work of demo and installing our Baja shelf all in the first week of work. Alex answered every question I had, day or night, weekday or weekend. We've gone from a green and worn out pool to a beautiful crystal clear blue pool with a space for everyone to enjoy during the summer. I can't say enough about the team from Ark Pool Plaster! Especially Tim (our initial contact guy) & Alex. They basically walked us through every step of the process. They friendly, professional, quickly responded to any & every question we had, & guided us through each phase of the project. Our job included fixing multiple leaks that we detected at their suggestion, demo-ing our old, original plaster (20 yrs old), with gorgeous mini-pebble-tech in Tropical Midnight color (with added abalone for some sparkle!), cleaning existing tile at the water line (which looked BEAUTIFUL when they were done!), replacing the skimmer (the site of one of the leaks), adding an autofill feature, and all new equipment, including filter, pump, heater & all wifi controlled!!! We couldn't be happier! Both guys took plenty of time to talk with us day by day & keep us posted of the progress. They gave us their cell numbers should any questions arise during the process, & we never felt that they were hurried or in a rush should we need a minute to chat.
