WOW!! Amazing, amazing, amazing company. For starters, they came and repaired our generator unbelievably quickly without exploiting us even though we were in a desperate situation after Hurricane Beryl. We learned that the COO of the company, Josh, sometimes answers the emergency calls which is who we talked to. AVOID Ark Generators. These unethical men quoted the replacement of my generator control circuit board and labor at $1600. I went to a Generac online parts supplier and found the exact board for $340. I replaced in 10 minutes, it was a simple plug and play part. Nobody ever told us what the service charge would be before the service was rendered. We thought since we had a 10 year comprehensive warranty, the battery and everything would be maintenance free for 10 years. Suddenly, when the battery is out on our generator after 2 1/2 years, we are being charged $435 for the battery and service charge. When we contacted ARK, they told us that that price was already discounted due to having a service agreement. Carlos later indicated that he had told us about the service charge before he came out. Although I live in SW Houston, I bought my 22kw Generac standby generator in 2015 from ARK in Conroe based upon word of mouth recommendations. Besides doing an excellent job installing the Generator and all the electrical boxes and cables, the tech took a long time instructing us how to use the complex system in simple, layman's language. A maintenance contract is crucial. A generator is no good if it doesn't work during a power outage. Try and find an electrician during a natural disaster. The inspections were thorough and issues identified which could possibly cause a failure during a crisis and made repairs. The techs explained in detail any required repairs. Any issues or disputes were handled in a fair manner. So besides being technically proficient, ARK has been reliable for 15 years. I feel confident I will have power during a crisis because I have ARK keeping my system working. read more

I purchased the 26/22.5 KW Generac generator on 6/27/23 from Ark. Install took several months. I had to call and ask when it would be installed. They more or less forgot to put me on the schedule. They installed the unit and told me not to call the gas company to hook up and they would be back out to start up. I again had to call at least a month after install to see when my generator would be working. Again they acted like it had been on all this time. They came and did a start up and worked ok until one Sunday when it was doing the weekley start up. I notice oil all outside around the base of the unit. I called and they did come out to fix it promptly. Now the hurricane hit the generator came on and worked for say 10 hours when it stopped in the early morning. Went and looked and oil all over the ground at the bottom of unit. I call emergency service with no answer. I also called Carlos the service rep and the voice mail had not been set up. I have called emergency service several times since and nothing. I also call my sales man and all he said was to call Carlos. I called today and all I got was the answering service taking my name and number. I would hope someone would call the current clients back after all word of mouth advertising goes a long way. read more

I installed my own 20 KW whole house generator since it replaced a previous installed generator. However I contracted the new electric wiring and automatic Transfer switch installation to an electric company. After all that work, I had a problem with the generator not starting. So Generac had me call Ark Generator & electrical services. After talking with Arks service manager Carlos they sent out a technician the very next day. I was very happy with the tech they sent. Brian was extremely competent, on time, professional yet very friendly. Brian, had me up and running within 30 minutes of arrival. He then coached me on the running and operation of the generator. ARK Generator Service Installed my 22kw Generac Generator, happy with service and installation until getting last 2 year maintenance contract. I realized after a year that my system had not had maintenance. Called and service was scheduled, great Tech. I had asked for a manager to call me, no response. when my next maintenance was due I called them thinking they had forgotten and was asked about renewing my maintenance contract. Sounds like my contract never made it into system. I asked a manager to call back, He did and schedule an maintenance appointment. I told him of my issues with their office and that I would seek legal action if I had problems. I was told I could finish out my contract (another year) and go some where else if I wished maintenance afterward. I have invested too much in the generator and have had a maintenance contract with ARK since installation (Techs are great.) I guess it is easier to find new clients than keeping their old ones. There are no checks and balances in the office or considerations with reply calls. I will finish out the contract and go elsewhere. Wish you all the best. read more

I've used ARK Generator Services for years on my whole house generator, with good results until this time. I was due for the annual oil change. They went ahead and did so using the old, used oil filter since they didn't have the correct one on the truck. I'm no mechanic, but pretty sure an oil change using the old filter is no oil change at all. I've left messages for Josh to call me back and reschedule but so far no luck. Though I received a large quality stand-by generator installed on time by pleasant employees, that is where the service stopped. I was supposed to receive maintenance for a year and no one came out as promised. When I called the company, they said they'd send someone but couldn't give me a date or a time. I received a call from a service tech when I wasn't home. When I returned the message about 30 minutes later, there was no answer so I left a message telling them to come on out and there is no gate or animal to impede my services. No one came out and no one called me back. During the freeze in February, my generator failed to turn on and I had to get pipes repaired in my attic. I called their 24/7 hotline (which is actually just an answering service that takes messages) an hour after the electricity went down and my generator did not come on. Then I called again after another hour. When the generator was finally looked at the next day, I was told the gas line valve was turned on too high?! They said they adjusted it but it was in THE EXACT SAME POSITION as before?! They told me someone would come out to give me my SECOND maintenance check and I asked when was the first one? I had not seen or heard of anyone coming out the first time. So they decided to count their visit as maintenance visit. They tried to charge me and I refused to pay them. I told them I paid too much money less than a year ago fir it to fail. I figured I'd get a call from the company to see if everything was ok but nope! Then during a storm a few months later, we lost power and AGAIN, the generator failed to turn on. Mind you it comes on every week for a few minutes as part of the automatic maintenance. This time when I called the 24/7 hotline someone was sent out and he was extremely rude! He did not want to hear me tell him that it had not been properly maintained as part of my contract. He said, "I don't want to hear all of the mess. Do you want me to look at it or not?" He got it going and told me he would be talking to the manager and that I would probably see the manager out at my place tomorrow (probably felt bad for being rude when he first came) then he left. No one came out the next day and no one called. I finally called and this time was angry over the phone - I had paid $6000 for a working generator and maintenance plan and the generator had failed TWICE and no one seemed to care and was there a guarantee or return policy because I had not seen anything that my money had paid for. They finally sent out 2 people ( the rude guy and another guy) and they told me I had a bad valve (the one they used when they installed the unit and the one they said was on too high). They replaced it and now keep calling me to renew my maintenance plan - fat chance of that!!!!! read more

After installing a whole house generator one-in- a half years ago and $10,000 later, our generator that has not needed to kick on at all until Harvey failed to kick on at all. It was serviced for the yearly service maintenance check on Thursday 8/24/17 right before Harvey and the technician said everything looked good. So you can imagine our surprise when it failed 3 days later. We had no extra anything because we were counting on our new generator to work. On 8/27/17 we placed an emergency call to have Ark Service the generator. It was earlier in the evening and we were not flooded at that time. We went to bed and were awaken at midnight by Ark's Technician knocking on our door. I was so happy but surprised they showed up so late. By this time water had risen to about 3 feet out front and we had no idea it was as deep as it was. The technician was not happy but preceded to get us up and running which we were extremely grateful. The technician had to by pass the device in the garage so the generator would start manually. We thanked him, I was in tears and my husband said God Bless. The generator continued to function on and off manually for several days until power was restored in our neighborhood. We notified Ark once again power was restored, flood waters had rescinded and asked if they could come back out and repair the device in garage properly so we could be switched off the generator and put back on regular power since it was restored. The same technician's arrived and proceeded to tell me that he didn't care if he ever made it back out to Service our house again and went on to say my husband never even thanked him for coming out during the hurricane in 3 feet of water. and even said my husband called him a sorry ass technician?? I was shocked at what he was saying and said immediately are you sure you have the right person because we were extremely grateful and surprised you even showed up so late during the hurricane? He said yes, it was YOUR HUSBAND! Well I didn't believe my ears and pulled my husband aside and told him exactly what the technician said, he was just as shocked as I was and went to the technician immediately and apologized for any misunderstanding because he was more than appreciative and even said God Bless when they left just like he always says to everyone. He was extremely sorry if he didn't hear him and proceeded to explain that to the technician. Now we are clearing our house at this point because our entire first floor of our home was flooded. Instead of the technician saying "I must not have heard you and apologize for accusing you of not saying thank you, he continued on with stating you didn't say anything and I guess we will agree to disagree". Are you serious?? My husband who is ALWAYS appreciative and thankful for everything just walked away and chose to proceed with emptying our house and avoided the technician all together after that. The problem I have with this at this point is how this technician insisted on carrying on about it and telling me over and over my husband whom I have been married to for 25 years did not say the words Thank You which I know was untrue. Why? Why would this technician go out of his way to be so ugly and nasty especially when another man comes to you and apologizes for any misunderstanding?? Sorry we had to call you ARK for our brand new generator that didn't kick on the first and only time it needed to be used, especially when it was just maintained 3 days prior by YOUR technician; sorry we had to call the Emergency number during a Hurricane when we lost power and you all provided to us if we ever needed anything,; and sorry for your lack of compassion and empathy for a family that not only lost their 22 year old child tragically to a truck driver 2 years ago but also just had their home that is only 6 years old flooded. The $200 emergency service call invoice you want us to pay is shameful and just goes to prove the ethics of your company, the lack of response to my email sent, and how you obviously do not stand behind the meaning of what customer service is really all about. Being a business owners ourselves, we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and always putting our customers first and foremost, no matter what! It is very disappointing to have to deal with such unprofessionalism in this day and age, and at a time that is so difficult for so many with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. In the past 3 years Ark Generator has not been able to fix my full house generator where it runs more than 6 weeks. They have done 2 flushes, added oil and coolant, replaced the coolant system, replaced 4 or 5 coolant sensors and it still is working for 3-6 weeks. This was a 3 week session. When I call for service I never know when they are going to show up unless I keep calling and bugging the guy that schedules the routes even when I've told them I need to know 24-48 hours prior to the appointment. read more
