All the local mechanics know about this place, and if you own a car, ESPECIALLY an older model car,…read moreyou NEED to know about this place too. Penny Pincher has saved us not one, not two, but at least THREE times or more, when one of our cars broke down and we needed a part that all of the regular retail chain auto parts stores said had to be "special ordered". Penny Pincher always has the parts we need in stock and always at a much lower price than those chain auto parts stores quote. Need an example? Two days ago, our older Honda Civic blew a wheel bearing while driving on the 101. None of the chain retail auto supply stores had it in stock, but told us they could special order it for $15 and that it would take days to get it. Penny Pincher had it IN STOCK for $3. A day later, we were back on the road! Thank you Penny Pincher! Lots of professional and DIY mechanics come here, so the place is always very busy. Customer service can be great or bad, depending on who you get, but out of the many times that I've dealt with PP, only once did I deal with a rude employee (he was disciplined by the manager later) and the other time, they gave me the wrong part and although they fixed their mixup without complaint, it was annoying to have to wait in that long line, so make sure you have the right part before you leave the store!

Prices....especially since auto zone and O'Reilly are 80% remanufactured parts too. Why pay more?read more

Luckily for me, I was still on the grid and could use my handy dandy Yelp app to locate the nearest auto parts/shop which per my gps was two blocks west, just beyond the plume of radiator steam escaping from the front end of my car. I allowed my car to drop below boiling and decided to take the chance and coast it up to NAPA. My temperature gauge was pressing beyond the red zone the entire way. I was bubbling over. I'm sure happy I didn't blow a head gasket, have cam damage, or a detonation problem or something like that. That's car talk, ya know! Vincente was working the customer service counter and I was very happy they had the hose in stock. He asked where I was headed to and I told him I was late for a business meeting. He then gave me a look over and asked me where my car was. I point out the glass doors, it's the car spilling fluids all you're your parking lot. He laughed but I really think he felt bad for me. He then led me out to my car and insisted on making the repair himself. He said he didn't want me to get dirty. Now that's service. It took him about ten minuets to replace my hose and refill my radiator. He didn't have to do it but I am so glad he did.

I had to provide an exact date of purchase, which I was able to find in my banking info. The guy who waited on me was nice. The battery I purchased several months ago died. I certainly won't be back even though they're near my home. Walmart is your best bet for batteries. Proof of purchase and exchange is simple and easy. And we wonder why retail chains go out of business.
