Well, if you stick with Bim Bap and other rice, vegetable and meat dishes you should be golden. It's very good stuff - and comes with a great selection of side dishes. It feels and looks relatively healthy, what with all those bright vegetables - but I can't say for sure; it's so delicious I don't want to know if it's not as healthy as it looks. The kimchi is excellent and so are the sweet, side potatoes. However, fish dishes aren't great. We ordered the cod fish soup and it was tasty but nearly impossible to finish for the bones (including the spine). Now I'm no expert at filleting fish, but I can't imagine it's price prohibitive for the owners to buy boneless filets. My dining companion actually got so sick of, uh...fishing for the fish, that he gave up exasperated. The soup was $16. I felt bad because he left hungry. read more

I always get the kimchi hot stone pot. The owners are always fantastic, and the food is always delicious. Sometimes the little plates, the side dishes (not sure what they are called!) come out at odd times... I've had it come when I first sit down, right after I order or with my dinner. But either way, it's a good time all around! Also, it boggles my mind that they can accommodate twenty or so college kids at one time in there. I mean woah! read more

Ahhh? No- not for me! I've never had Korean food before and based on here- never again! $40 for 2 for lunch...?... and that was the special? I wanted noodles- thinking that would be safe and was told- we only have those in summer. Ok? Ended up with some cold gummy rice in the bottom of a bowl with some slimy fishy tasting vegetables on top and a cold- old looking- fried egg on top! Gross! I ate some of the rice- then said- let's get the hell out of here! Ugggg this place is not for me! read more

Great authentic Korean food for a very reasonable price. We ordered the cheese ramen and it was delicious. We also tried the bulgogi bibimbap and a kimchi stew. They were both amazing. Our entrees also came with banchan (Korean side dishes) as they should. Highly recommend trying this place out if you like, or would like to try Korean cuisine. read more

I told some people I was coming here for dinner and most of them never heard of it. It's a small gem of a place tucked in the corner of a plaza off Flint Rd. near UB North campus. This was my first time trying Korean cuisine, and after eating here I'm a fan! For drinks our table just decided to go with the hot green tea....and waoh it comes out hot! Actually had to wait and use my napkin to pick up the cup for the first few sips. It was probably one of the best green teas I ever had, it was light, smooth, and very drinkable. I usually ask for sugar when I have tea, but this didn't need it at all and would have probably ruined it's amazing taste. I thought about getting a beer, but skipped since the prices seemed pretty steep. I looked over the menu and couldn't really understand what all the names meant, but after reading some reviews from fellow Yelpers and descriptions on the menu I decided to go with the bibimbap with chicken. There was a girl at a table behind me that ordered the hot sizzling bowl of bibimbap, and the server demonstrated that she needed to stir the pot to help things cook and blend in all the ingredients. So when my bowl came out I knew exactly what to do and already felt like a bibimbap pro! I stirred up the fried white rice, chicken, fried egg, and assorted veggies. As I stirred I asked myself...is there chicken even in here? It was hard to find, and I got a few pieces....I think. The veggies and rice were very good, but a little bland, and the chili sauce bottle that was provided came in handy and was very hot but tasty! We also got an assortment of Kimchi (various pickled Korean veggies) with the meal and it helped cool our palates from the hot dishes we ordered. All the small samples of veggies were very good, and I think my favorite was the seaweed salad. Also, eating over a hot pot for the entire meal will make you sweat a little, definitely a place to visit on a cold winter day. When it's January and -5 degrees outside, I'll think of you Arirang! read more

This was my second visit to Ariang, and I found the food to be good. I had the spicy shredded beef stew. Server was attentive, but unpretentious-- she did not go out of her way to kiss behinds. Very typical of authentic Korean restaurants. Fine by me! Both times I was here, there were mostly Korean diners-- I suspect this is a good taste of home for the Korean students at UB. Nothing spectacular, but solid. read more

One Liner: Stuffed! Food: (scale of 0-4) 3.2 It's all Elizabeth L's fault. I was disappointed when I got here because you don't get to cook your own Korean BBQ. However, it's all forgiven when we got the food. The food was delicious. They gave us an incredible amount of food as well. We did not even finish half of the food we ordered based on the expected amount per dollars in typical Korean restaurants. The owners look very sad when we said that our hotel rooms have no microwave oven or fridge. All the left overs have to go to waste. We had to assure them that the food was delicious, and that we couldn't finish it only because we ordered way too much. I'm sure the locals were looking at our table and laughing at us. Extras: (Scale of 0-1) 0.5 Service 0.1: Decor 0: Speed 0.1: Ugly! sorry, it was old and ugly....... Dessert 0.1: Prices 0.2: For the amount of food we were given? This is cheap! Arirang - That was all there was when I ordered take out.. Totally a rip off!! - Korean Near Me - Buffalo, New York

Excellent service, great location, good prices and most importantly, delicious food. The K Chicken is the bomb.

Since the ownership changed we find that we come here less and less. We've been disappointed a bit with the quality of the ingredients. Not sure if they are cheaper options, or if some of the items that were previously homemade are now pre-made. The prices have always seemed a bit high, but it just doesn't seem to be worth it as much anymore. read more

This is my most favorite Korean restaurant. The service is impeccable and they make sure you are pleased with your meal. My most favorite dish is the Sizzling Stone Pot Bibimbap with Chicken. I drizzle their spicy sauce all over it. My meal came with a great amount of small plates of items like Sweet Sauce Potatoes, Kimchi, Delicious Bean Sprouts, and many other veggies. I like to put them in my Bibimbap as well. Their shrimp shumai is delicious and all of their food. I am looking forward to trying new things there as well. The atmosphere is quiet, laid back, relaxing. LOVE this restaurant. read more

Aside from being a bit pricy, the food here was superb. Food came surprisingly quickly and was very good. The waitress seemed like the owner and was very nice. Interestingly, they don't seem to like to do dishes as all their side dishes came in styrofoam plates. read more

I Loved this place but they changes ownership. The new owners are nice but the food was okay. I went there one almost right after the ownership changed and was very disappointing with the food. What's good: kimchi stew, bibimbop What's okay: spicy seafood noodles What's not good: noodles in brown sauce (jang jang myung) Atmosphere is not great, so I usually do takeout. But the owners always seem surprised when I call, as they simply answer "Hello?" in a puzzled voice. But I recommend this place. read more

Skip the sushi and go with the Korean staples at this Korean-owned joint near UB. The dolsot bibimbap with bulgogi (rice cooked in a sizzling stone pot with marinated beef) is delicious, and the haemul pajeon (seafood pancakes) are also legit. Am docking a star or two because much of the menu seems a bit expensive for what it is, and the imported Korean alcohols are not worth sampling at triple the price you'd get them for in Korea. But if you're looking for a mellow and healthy meal off Millersport, this place is well worth a stop-in. read more

I am a Korean living in East Amherst, so naturally I hav tried all Korean restaurant in town. and I think this place is the best.. Very good portioned main dishes accompanied with 10 Banchans( side dishes)... I usually go there with my 7 year old son and order meat dishes like Bulgogi over rice and a soup dish for me. and always end up take food back home for lunch next day. One bad experience I had though, during the summer, I tried their Nang Myun( cold noodle) in spicy sauce, it was way too salty and the noodle was way overcooked and mushy.. Nang Myun is supposed to be cooked with very chewy texture. It was so bad . I did not get to eat at all. so stay away from Nang Myung dishes.( they are not authentic and seem to use packages Nang Myun that you can buy in a Korean grocery anyway) Recommendations: Bulgogi or Kalbi, Chicken BBQ. I love their Military Soup( like Kimchi based soup with lots of meat such as beef, even sausages, Man du, and Ramen noodle). Their Jung Gol( Korean Cassarole) dishes are various and really good, but they are all for 2 or more people. read more

Ok, so I have never had Korean food before. Interesting but I cannot compare. Not quite sure why thiswas listed as Japanese food?? I was in town with co-workers and were a bit leery when we pulled into the parking lot....especially when we walked in the door and no one else was in the restaurant. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Our server explained everything that she brought to the table....my first experience with kimchi. (did not enjoy the radish ) Enjoyed the bulgobi bi bim bop. I guess I was expecting a sauce but it was still very good. I would like to try another Korean place so that I could compare. read more

Well, first and foremost, the food is fantastic. The restaurant is fairly small and there was a slight.. Issue with seating. But once we got past that, it was great. Just know you will get the typical Asian treatment there; when your waitress asks "what you want?" She isn't being rude. That's just how it goes. She checked up on us often and made sure everything was good. Ill be going back! read more

I stayed at the Marriott hotel and Arirang was the closest Korean restaurant within walking distance. I came in at 5:00 pm and it was quiet, only 4 customers. There was a an older Korean man who greeted me and took my orders. I ordered the ddeokbokki (spicy rice cake) and galbitang (beef rib soup with radish). The meal was decent, nothing GRAND nor fancy. It was presented in a mediocre way, just like the regular gimbap shops in Korea. The food tasted like how it should taste like, but the only thing I'd want to note is that they could have added a bit more ribs in my galbitang. As you can see in the picture, it was mainly white radish. The rice cake was decent, reasonably spicy. Service was good, my waiter came by occasionally asking if everything was ok. He was a bit busy running back and forth to the kitchen and up front. Overall, it was decent. The pricing is a bit high for the quantity of food I've received but other than that, I'd give it a 3.8-4. read more

After living in Seoul, South Korea for over 2.5yrs. I've missed delish korean food. Wasn't sure what i could find in buffalo until I yelped it. A few weeks back before taking a friend to the airport i decided it was an opportune time to check this place out in hopes to cure my craving for Korean food, since it's bee about 5 months of being back in the states. After entering this establishment, I immediately felt like I was back in Korea. The outside isn't too appealing, and there was only chair seating, no floor seating available. Bummer, as I wish they would have a section to sit on the floor. The menu is pretty extensive, and seemed a bit pricey. However, the amount of food you get makes up for it. We ordered the dweng jeong jjigae, and jae yuk dol bap. The side dishes were plentiful and you can ask for more if you like a certain one. I was able to speak a bit of Korean to the owner, he smiled and look surprised. It was also nice that the majority of the customers were Korean. I highly recommend this place if you are craving korean food or want to try It for the first time, your sure to not be disappointed. can't wait to go again.....in fact, i'll be there tomorrow. The BimBimBop is good, and unlike so many places, it has flaovour without dumping hot paste into it. the pancake is thicker than usual, but it is stuffed with ingredients...crunch on the outside without being oily. As a Korean food noob before I was so psyched to try this restaurant out for the first Yelp Buffalo International Supper Club! With our knowledgeable community manager along I felt ready to conquer a new cuisine. I did some reading up on the restaurants website about Korean food, the flavors and the various dishes. I like to do my homework! Our meal began with the little side dishes which I totally loved. I was worried Korean food would be too spicy, but I thought it was all delightful. Totally loved the kimchi. I ordered the hot stone pot with beef bulgogi. It was very good and an exciting dish... the slight sizzle made me hungrier! The table shared the kimchi pancake as well as the seafood pancake. I liked both very much and wish I could eat them all the time. I tried some other dishes while we were here as well as an OB "the most drinkable beer". Looking forward to exploring more of the menu, although it's a little expensive! read more

I have been there 2 times and both were not too great. The first time we ordered seafood pancake, but it was too dry (too much flour) and the ingredients were less variety than other Korean restaurant in buffalo. It was really pricey too. Second time is today I ordered sweet and sour pork. DO NOT ORDER THAT. The sauce is all sweet side and lack of salt! The pork itself is extremely disappointing since the "meat" tastes like flour and have no proper pork flavor and I paid 19.95 for that. All in all, would not go back or recommend the restaurant to anyone. Either Korean or the one sitting on transit is better than Arrirang. :( read more

I dined here for the first time with some new and old friends via a Yelp Buffalo International Supper Club event. We enjoyed a plethora of kimchi and other appetizers (daikon, sweet black beans, fermented cabbage, etc.) to start. The dolsot bibimbap with pork was pretty nice, as was the bulgogi (beef). It's a bit like a hot pot: rice and veggies cooked in a sizzling stone pot, topped with a fried egg, which I cover with yummy Korean chili paste. The mackerel was cooked well, in a very simple and unadorned preparation. The haemul pajeon (seafood pancakes) are tasty, as are the kimchi ones. The food wasn't the best Korean I've had in Buffalo, but it was good nonetheless. read more

This was my first Korean experience and I would like to thank Kaylynn C for finally getting me to go because it was delicious! I had the bibimbap which was amazing. Before the meal came they brought out a bunch of small plates with various sprouts, veggies and fish on them. I was pretty adventurous and tried them all. My favorite had to be the sprouts which were served in chili oil(?) I'm not quite sure what everything was, but I sure had fun eating them like it was a box of chocolate not knowing how it was going to taste. Since this was my first crack at korean food I think 4 stars would do the trick because I'm sure somewhere out in Buffalo there is better, but for my first time, damn it was good. Next time I'll be sure to try some different items. read more

I'd never had Korean food other than the occasional side dish at my girlfriend's parents' house, so I had no idea what to expect when we left downtown Buffalo and made the long trek to Williamsville. While the hefty menu is mostly loaded with meat dishes, you can order most things vegetarian instead. There also are many Asian liquors, like soju, available for swilling. I went with a vegetarian Bi Bim Bap, a dish of veggies, rice, a fried egg and sauce served in heaping proportions in a stone bowl (helps keep the rice hot and make it crunchy). Both my girlfriend and her buddy (who both studied abroad in S. Korea) raved about their meals. The dishes are a tad pricey, but they bring you out a dim sum-esque cart full of Korean goodies for an appetizer that helps to offset the cost. The ambiance is pretty atrocious, and it's in one of the ugliest-looking shopping center/residential buildings I've ever seen in my life. But the owner was so friendly and helpful and the food was not mind-blowing but very good. It's a bit of a hike from downtown Buffalo, but it was the culinary highlight of our trip without a doubt. read more

The owners are rude as hell. I asked for ramen noodle in beef soup and it came with glass noodle instead of ramen noodle. I told the guy that I asked for ramen noodle not glass noodle and he came took my dish and came back after 5 min with a bowl full of uncooked ramen noodle and nothing else. I told the women again that I asked for ramen noodle in beef soup but not glass noodle in beef soup or just ramen noodle with nothing. She yelled at me and said it's your second time change your order, I'm not doing it, I'm not taking the order, leave it. And for the next 30 min, I just sat there waiting my friend and with nothing to eat. What a horrible experience! read more

Update 3/14: We were OVERCHARGED. Didn't realized it until I read the credit card statement today. The three dishes I ordered should not add up to $50.61 even if the tips were included. I am NOT saying they did it on purpose. It's MY fault that I didn't notice it in the first place. But do pay attention when paying the bill in case there is any accident like this happening to you. We ordered two bibimbaps: pork (no.28) and octopus (no.29). Both tasted good, but it's a little weird that there was little pork and octopus in our pots. It took us some time to find a piece of them. The free little side dishes before the meal are generally good. The spicy celery is a pleasant surprise. Even a person who don't like celery like me couldn't have enough of it. The other dish we ordered is a small kimchi pot. This is even slightly better than the two bibimbaps, but again we could find little kimchi inside the pot (but plenty of pork this time). In terms of taste, it's a 4-star compared to the other restaurants in the local area, but when it comes to the price, I could only give them 3 stars. Their pricing is a little strange to me. The prices of most appetizers are almost that of the entree. The two bibimbaps and kimchi pot cost two of us $46. So if you wanna be economical, Arirang might not be the best choice, But if you wanna try the Korean taste, this is definitely a good place to go with their friendly service and substantial menu. read more

I've come here more than half a dozen times. Each time, I love it more and more. The food is authentic and basically tastes the same as korean food in Korean Town in NYC. It's priced around the same range, but there's so much more food here. The side dishes are always delicious. I love their kimbap. I've tried all three versions: regular, kimchi and cheese. However, I'm not sure if they have that anymore - they seemed to have changed their menu. I've had their army stew, chicken stew, bibimbap, and kalbi. Their lunch boxes have quite a good amount of food. This place always hits the spot...yummm! read more

It's been a month since I went to this restaurant and I'm being sloooowwww about reviewing, but I want to get it out since I hear they are (sadly) closing. It was my first experience with full-on Korean food (not counting fusion type cuisine). It was awesome! My favorite part was probably the kimchi pancake we started the meal with, and the little side dishes were DELICIOUS! Everything was spiced and presented well, and really reasonably priced in my opinion. The owners were friendly and explained a lot to my table full of people new to Korean food. It was a great place to eat with a group, and I am so glad I went. I hope I'm wrong about the closing rumor and get to go there again! read more

The food here is pretty good but I think it's way too expensive. Not a lot of options in Buffalo for Korean food though.

Probably the best ethnic food I've had since I've moved to Buffalo. And that's saying a lot because the ethnic food is in town is intolerable. I was the only person there during lunch, which is understandable because the place is not in the prime location. The food was good, the kimchi was delicious. The staff was really nice, even offered if I wanted extra of the side dishes. Overall a great experience. Will definitely be back. You should check it out. read more

My husband ordered udon noodle soup, he said it was just an 'okay'. I like the side dishes, especially the kimchi... Loooveeee it....
