Dolsot bibimbap (with scrambled egg), kimbap and kimchi jijae

Lived in South Korea for three years and this is the BEST Korean spot in Buffalo. Other places we've been so with bbq and mixed fare in Buffalo always missed that nostalgic note for us but Arirang nailed it. Kimbap and kimchi jeon was straight out of Korea days! We had to eat in our full winter gear - not sure if there was something wrong with the building or they just don't have great heat but it didn't take anything away from the food. Will be back for sure!

Free delivery deal on DoorDash tonight; decided to try Korean food from Arirang.

I had a hankering for fried rice, and the hubbs was willing to fund my hankering, so I hit up the DoorDash app to see who with fried rice was offering free delivery tonight. Arirang had a free delivery offer, and was only a little over a half-hour wait, so we pulled the trigger. DoorDash ordering was easy, and drop-off was on time, contact-free, and well-packaged. I went with chicken fried rice, and upgraded to add kimchi too. (As I said, the hub'ster was paying, hehehe.) My husband picked Korean BBQ fried chicken wings. Our son is a ramen-head, and went with egg and cheese ramen, with added chicken. And our vegan daughter selected the homemade kimchi dumplings and a side of white rice. Our son enjoyed his ramen: a good portion that was a bit spicy, but he still splendidly slurped his noodles. Our daughter's kimchi dumplings were stuffed BIG! With five in the order, two were plenty for her, she shared one with her dad, and was happy to have two for lunch tomorrow. She said they had a nice fermented tang to them, and a good doughy chewiness. My husband's chicken wings were piping-lava hot and very flavorful, but a bit too soggy for his liking. He ate a few, and put the rest into our oven under the broiler to crisp them up. The sweet, sticky sauce seared up nicely in the oven to a blackened glaze. If he orders these wings again, we'll ask for crispier next time. Still very tasty as they were, and easy enough to well-done them at home. As for my fried rice, YUM! A generous portion of rice with veggies and eggs mixed in, plus the sides of chicken and kimchi. I did think the kimchi portion was a bit skimpy, but what I did get was very vinegary and delicious. The chicken was a nice savory taste, when mixed in with the hot and salty rice. Overall, this fried rice hit the spot for me! Delicious delivery from Arirang tonight! Mostly hits, with a couple minor misses, but overall we were pleased with the experience. Our whole family enjoyed trying Korean dishes, and we'd gladly order again to keep eating our way through the Arirang menu. :-)

Came here for a birthday dinner! I am always on the look out for Korean restaurants since they are hard to find in the area. I came across this place through a Google search . When we arrived there was no one at the counter the greet us. I'm assuming they are short staffed since the person who eventually greeted us also took our order and cooked our food. Despite the wait to get seated the food was delicious and the person taking care of of us, even though he looked a bit overwhelmed was very friendly. The menu is a bit limited and you really won't find a large selection of authentic Korean dishes, the menu items you will find will be tasty tho! Highly recommend the pork katsu. The pork was extremely tender on the inside and the breaded crust had the perfect crunch. I had at least three helpings of their kimchi, had to be the best I've had at a restaurant! Definitely make sure you snag some when you get your meal!

My daughter wants to do 'rd trip' and get a take out somewhere we never been. So I randomly searched and this happened to come out on my Facebook ads. Menu looked interesting. We ordered kimchi pancakes, shrimp siomay, Korean dumplings and beef noodles. I thought I ordered shrimp noodles as well alas apparently I didn't added to the cart. Poor my son didn't get his shrimp noodles. I have high expectations. And I'm honestly quite disappointed. The pancake and dumplings just ok. My son said the siomay is not good. I can't eat shrimp so I just have to trust him. The noodles look blah an unappealing not appetizing at all. And the taste also blah... I wonder if we just picked the wrong food. I should have stick with the known bim bim bap for example... o well. I would give another chance only when everything back open. Too far for take out and to get disappointed.

A little back story; When my father was in the military he was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. He pretty much ate Korean specialty while he was there, and when he was set to fly back to the U.S. he brought back the Korean delicacy with him. Growing up we always went to the same Korean restaurant that was about a 20 minute drive from our house in NF. Now that I'm older, and that place has since shut their doors, I've been longing for somewhere to be that replacement place in my life.. WELL... I'VE FOUND IT. I was in the area one Saturday morning and I thought I'd look up Korean places for lunch on Yelp. Arirang was in the top 5 to come up, had a lot of reviews already and was only about a 4 minute drive to where I was at by UB North Campus. On here it said they opened at 10:30am, well it was a little past and the Open sign wasn't on. So I called and a man said they would be opened a little bit around 11am. I wasn't sure why, until I popped in right at 11am and saw that they were setting up for a large group. They had burners with soup already boiling on the table, and lots of side dishes. Each setting had a spoon, chop sticks, and a metal rice container to keep it hot. They also had styrofoam cups with large bottles of water on each table. There were only about three tables available in the middle that weren't set up for this large group. I was immediately taken care of. (Mind you, I fell on ice right outside of the restaurant while walking in. I not only split open my left hand, but I was bleeding from two different areas on my right hand also.) The women working was so nice and bandaged me up. It was greatly appreciated. The guy that had the same voice as the one on the phone promptly gave me a cup of green tea to warm me up. It was very cold in the restaurant - I'm assuming because of them just being open. By the time I was leaving, you could feel the heat start to kick on and actually be warm. Dually noted that a couple that walked in behind me ended up walking out shortly after due to it being very cold. I was blown away by the menu and knew that I would definitely be bringing my parents with me next time. I ordered the "korean roll" which is also known as Kimbap. I also ordered the Rice Cake appetizer dish that was sweet and spicy all at the same time - but I wasn't too impressed. I've had similar dishes that I've made from pre packaged frozen meals that tasted about the same. The main thing I ordered was the Bibimbap, I'm sure I spelled it terribly wrong, but this is my go to dish if I don't know what to order. Everything in it tasted so fresh, it was delicious. From the shaved carrots, bean sprouts, mushrooms, cucumber, pickled radish. I also loved that the sauce for it was in a bottle on the side, I could put as much or as little as I liked - I pretty much drained everything in the sauce. I dipped my Korean roll in it as well. Primarily the beef that was under all those vegetables, was so so so good. Texture wise it wasn't your typical ground beef, it was chunky beef that actually made this dish very hearty. The egg on top and rice on the bottom smothered in the spicy sauce was what I needed to finish this dish. Lastly were the sides that came with my meal. *Spicy pickled radish was so good, I was given an extra side almost immediately after the first was all gone. *Fish Cake. Fish cake is my favorite dish. Theirs was very good, a little bit more fishy than what I've had in the past but it was delicious. *Potatoes. These potatoes were soft boiled and then tossed in a sweet almost teriyaki sauce. *Seaweed. I am not a seaweed fan when it's soaked in fish sauce - and that's exactly what it was. I only had a bite then left the rest. I hate wasting, but I just couldn't eat it. *Kimchi. It's a staple and it was delicious. *Mushrooms. I don't know what kind of mushrooms these were but they were so delicious. It was also in my dish and gave it really good texture.

Arirang is located just outside of UB's North Campus. It's a Korean restaurant and often serves to Asian tour buses. I came here with my Vietnamese friend and we enjoyed the Spicy Soft Tofu Stew with beef, Rice Cake Dumpling Soup, and Dup Bap Beef. The service was fast and friendly. The food was brought out on a cart and was sizzling hot. The Spicy Soft Tofu Stew was phenomenal. I've never enjoyed tofu so much. It was so soft and creamy that it could have been mistaken for cheese. It was perfectly spicy and fitting for the cold weather. The Rice Cake Dumpling Soup was delicious. It had a thick and creamy base. It almost tasted like bone marrow. The rice cakes and dumplings were soft and perfectly cooked. This soup was especially filling! The Dup Bap Beef was very nice. The beef tasted almost like it was marinated in teriyaki. It was tender and had a lovely taste to it. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend everything we had, especially the spicy soft tofu stew. This is without a doubt one of the best Korean places in Buffalo.

Ariana Grande keeps on calling me... it's getting annoying. For example last night at 2am, Arirang me. Again. And left a voicemail saying she wants me to take her out for Korean again. I mean, doesn't she know I have other people I want to hang out with and eat out with? Anyway, the big news is that her fave Korean place (this one) has now changed its name to Arirang, because every single night for the last year, Arirang them to make reservations for herself and I. She pays for our dinners, but then she sold more albums than I did so I am okay with that. Apparently she is also friends with Kimchi Kardashian. What to get: Yuk Gae Jang. I really liked Arirang. It's in the plaza on the West side of Millersport next to UB North just north of Maple Ave, where Santora's is. There are four Korean places in Buffalo that I know of, and all four are excellent. Seoul Garden towers above the rest for its awesome prices and has the best-tasting spicy beef bowls (love them!). Koreana is a little different and is delicious and original and has excellent Beef Kalbi. Korea House is a little fancier and a little pricier and has some Korean BBQ, and it's very good. And then there's the "forgotten" Arirang, which is also very good, and has lovely service. It's usually very quiet, but it's well worth changing that, and going in there with some friends and trying their delicious food. The prices are slightly higher than Seoul Garden but not horrifically so. It's cheaper than Korea House. The standard of the food is comparable to Korea House although the decor is not. The Spicy Beef Bowl was satisfying, delicious, filling, and exactly what I was hoping for. I asked for it to be extra spicy, and they weren't willing to do that for me, but it was still extremely delicious. It made me sad that such a delicious place had hardly ever patrons at a random lunch time. I think the reason I like SG the best is because of what they put in it... maybe the spices, maybe the meat, I can't tell. Stop in and give Arirang a try. If you love Korean food as much as I do, you may well uncover a little gem. Most towns in the USA don't even have one good Korean place... we have four of them here. Maybe if I buy enough Spicy Beef Bowls, I can single-handedly keep them in business! ;) By the way, if one of the steps on your ladder is missing, it is no longer politically correct to say "I'm missing a step." It makes the ladder feel inadequate. Instead, you should say it has an "airy rung." As in, one of the rungs, is a little "airy." As in, it's not there. Speaking of which, Airy Rung sounds like a good name for a Korean place...

One of my favorite spots to eat Korean food. The employees are super nice and would always have a warmly welcome. I think because it's the summer, it seems as if it is only one person running the front and the kitchen but seems okay to me because they seem to handle it well even when it gets busy. And because they deliver my food at a decent amount of time. I tried a bowl of galbi tang - I believe this is called short rib soup on the menu. It came with clear noodles inside and a side of rice! It was delicious and very filling. The price is average but considering it filled me up, it is a good price too. I almost couldn't finish the whole bowl along with the side dishes and rice. It's okay though if you don't finish because you can always pack it up to go. And if you are still hungry, you can always ask for more sides!! I love their potatoes with a sweet sauce and the seaweed. They also sell snacks so maybe you can grab a bag of snacks while paying for your meal? Bathroom is kinda cute actually - to me, it has some unique walls and I get a nice nature and vintage vibe from it. There is also a piano in the corner, maybe someone can play it while you eat LOL so you can almost feel the experience of a luxurious meal. Anyways, really like this place. Super friendly. Really recommend trying!!
