My hot ginger tea was deeply comforting, and lunch specials are served 11:00- 3pm. Mine arrived quickly! Even though I had requested a spiciness 2 on a scale to 5, it was still very comfortable. This spot has been on my list for awhile to check out. I have seen so many good reviews that I knew I had to check it out. I met up with my friend here for lunch and we were the first ones here before the lunch rush. We ordered our drinks and food and the service was quick and friendly. My glass was a little dirty but I just drank out of my can anyways so not a huge deal. The food is the real deal here. HUGE portions. The pad thai towered over the plate and it was so good! I usually get chicken but I wanted to try the beef and I was pleasantly surprised. The beef had a really good flavor and tenderness to it. Everything was cooked and assembled beautifully on the plate. This place is tucked in a little bit and you could drive right past it. Daughter is very familiar with Asian foods, so she ordered some appetizers, I had a chicken dish with rice, vegetables, kimchi , & medley of veggies. It's been a few years since I last visited Chin Hills, and that's a shame. It's even better than I remembered. The service, ambiance and food are top notch. The restaurant is easy to driveby and lacks any draw. It sits within a small strip plaza of Asian restaurants and market. Inside there are quite a few tables and there were a handful of guests eating in. The cuisine is Korean and Burmese and the decor was Asian influenced with colorful string lights surrounding the room. We over ordered because everything sounded amazing and there were plenty of unique options we wanted to try. We are already planning to go back for lunch to try more dishes, especially because their lunch menu options were perfect. We started with a few appetizers: firecracker shrimp, spring rolls, and kimchi jun which is an egg based pancake with scallions and kimchi. Then we shared a Lahphet Thoke salad, which was cole slaw style Burmese pickles tea leaf tossed with crispy beans, peanut, sesame seeds, garlic, cabbages, onions, and tomatoes. First up for the main dish was the Korean BBQ combo platter with Angus Beef short rib, ribeye, chicken, and spicy pork. The short rib was a hit, as was the spicy pork. All very well seasoned and marinated. We ordered the hotstone jaeyok, which is spicy pork, rice, and fried egg. It was served surrounded by a sampling of all different side dishes that we honestly didn't quite know what they were...pickled cucumbers, fried seasoned potatoes, kimchi, a bean curd, a curry sauce, and vinegar brocolli. Kids are on a ramen kick, so the chicken ramen with kimchi, veggies, and egg was a must. We ended up wrapping up the pad see ew dish to go, so I'm excited for lunch tomorrow! Service wasn't anything special. He took your order and delivered the meal. We had to flag and ask for water refills, there was no small talk or inquiry on the meal. Don't let the exterior dissuade you from coming here to eat. The food is pure perfection. We spent under $40 for tofu pad Thai, kimchi fried rice, fried Mandu, and vegetable Kim bap. It was so good!! I've been here once but never had the chance to review it. Came in recently because I was craving Korean food. The gentleman taking care of us was attentive and friendly! Ordered a seafood pancake, Migoreng (Indonesian stir fried noodles) and chicken japchae. Everything was delicious! Portions were also huge for the price. The food also came with banchan which are small side dishes that come with your food. This included odeng (fish cake), kimchi, potato, broccoli, and cucumber. Fresh & Authentic! It's a joint; nothing fancy. The food is delicious. Prices are reasonable. A mix of Korean, Thai, Burmese and a bit of Japanese. We love their Bi Bim Bap, Dol Set Bop, Pajun- several to try depending on your palate, Nokdojun - is a fabulous vegetarian one (not vegan). The Bibimbap is typical but there are options including tofu. Very fresh and plentiful! The Dolsot Bibimbap (hot stone) is a favorite! Try the Kimbap - vegetarian sushi! We ordered too much food for 2 people so we end up packed the rest to go. Samgaetang: The portion is big. They put sweet rice (sticky rice) and jujubes inside the chicken. It's really good comfort food with white rice specially if you are sick. Seafood pancake: Crispy and cost-effective. Budae hotpot: The portion is not big as I expected. The pot was wide but shallow. It's a little bit pricy with the amount of food. The service was good. The area next to the window were dusty and I saw some dead bugs there. We were sitting right next to the window so I was kind of losing my appetite. I hope that they'll notice this issue because it's easy to fix. read more

Family owned Korean - Burmese Korean restaurant. The place is a bit run down and when you walk in you step on a very stick mat which gave me a negative impression. However, once I sat down and tasted the food it was worth it. Too bad we missed the lunch specials but it was perfect. Found this on yelp while we were in town. Located in a strip mall along other asian restaurants and market. Simple place with small staff. Server was nice enough. Food was quite good. Dumplings were great and crispy. Seafood pancake was great. Kimchi selection was amazing that came with the Chin Hill special soup. Was pho like but tasted like it had kimchi in the broth. Was very tasty. Only negative was that the sauce that came for the pancake and dumplings tasted like it was straight soy sauce. Was way too salty. Would go back again. Recommended read more

While visiting Buffalo for Thanksgiving, I asked my best friend for recommendations on restaurants. She use to live down the street from the restaurant and said it was cheap, filling and really amazing. I know my best friend who got me into Elite would never steer me wrong. Sure enough this place is a hidden gem. I didn't know what I wanted to eat but everything looked/sounded/smelled so good. I got the Dolsot Bibimbap bowl. The hot stone bowl caramelizes and make the rice on the bottom crispyyyyy. It is so good. I have never eaten fern before but now I have. The scallion pancake was more than enough for two of us. The Mandu-gui were amazing. I love the simplicity of pot stickers. My favorite aspect of this restaurant is that the owners are a refugee family from Burma who arrive in Buffalo in 2008. I spoke with the daughter (I forgot her name!), who is trying to become a doctor and applying to medical school. Their story and their food is amazing. I will be back around Christmas. read more

Chin Hills is a really excellent Korean restaurant that was surprisingly good, and I wasn't expecting how much I was going to enjoy it. Located near Kenmore/Tonawanda on Military, in a spot which isn't really well known for having top notch restaurants - but this is a top-notch place if it's anything. Oh, how their food and soups are delicious, and they're underrated and spectacular and pretty cheap as well. Now that Seoul Garden is closed down, top Korean food is at a premium in WNY. The best in town is Woo Chon in Williamsville, but this is right up there, and great value too... and it has really yummy Burmese food too, like the Burmese beef curry. Be very sure to try it. And if I eat here every day and don't order healthy, I'll end up being known as Double Chin Hills. read more

This was our second time ordering take out during covid-19. We ordered the scallion pancakes which was a large serving and was perfectly crispy and flavorful and came with a nice dipping sauce. Probably my favorite item of the order, and great heated up the next day in the airfryer. We also ordered the bibimbap with chicken. That was fantastic, though we did not get any sauce with it. I'm not sure if that was a mistake or if it just doesn't come with a sauce. We heated it up for lunch as leftovers and added some of the awesome sides that they provide and that was super yummy. We also ordered the pad see ew with tofu which was good. I love how they give you five or six cups of sides. Great restaurant, highly recommended. Perfect timing on their prediction of when it would be ready as well. There's a little Italian deli next door if you want to stop in there check to it out. read more

This place is FINALLY RE-OPENED! I discovered hidden this Korean gem right before the pandemic, and was devastated when they closed "until further notice." I just happened to drive by and they were open again so I couldn't resist. Good Korean food is honestly hard to find in Buffalo. This place serves authentic Korean dishes and friendly service. The owners are always willing to offer their suggestions, as you journey through the diverse menu. I ordered the Kimchi Jun and Kimbap. Each dish was presented beautifully, even in the take out containers, and was packed full of flavor. The kimchi Jun was nice and crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on inside. Kimbap was fresh and the rice was cooked and seasoned just right. I would have like to see some ham or sausage in the filling but I enjoyed it either way. The food is very reasonably priced and serving sizes are generous. We ordered one appetizer to share and one entree per person and it was almost too much to finish. The meal also came with a good variety of banchan. Having lived in Los Angeles for the past few years I've struggled to find good, authentic Korean food living in the DMV area, however this was some of the best tasting, most authentic food I'd had in a long time. Vegetable dumpling 5 dollars - see picture, the inside was moist, cabbage and onion with dipping sauce with sesame and chilli gyoza. Maybe fifty cents over priced for what you get. Pork belly Korean BBQ 14 dollars - a plate of pork belly and veggies served with rice and BBQ sides like radish, cucumber, fish cake, kimchi, broccoli, and potato. My favorite was the kimchi. It didn't taste super duper fermented and still had a nice not too mushy texture. Bulgogi bibimbap dolsot 11 dollars - I actually ended up adding many of the Korean BBQ sides to this dish to add some brightness and acidity since it was, for the most part, just meat and rice. Served in a super hot bowl so that the bottom of the rice gets a little crunchy and your meal stays hot. My only criticism is that I wish it had a veggie or two in the actual dish or a little side of kimchi for that sharpness that I felt it needed. read more

Chin Hills by far is the best spot for dolsot (hot stone) meals in Buffalo! The restaurant staff is really nice and the interior is beautiful. At first, I was a bit put off by the outside of the building as it looked very run down. However, when I entered I was amazed, they had decorations hanging from the ceiling, a piano, and a giant fan that was beautiful. The inside was also very clean and had a lot of seating as well and nice lighting. When I came there was no other customer, but by the time I had finished eating, there were about 4 other tables occupied. The waitress was friendly and very attentive as she came out to check on us about five times. We also received the check without having to ask which was really convenient. We were offered complimentary chickpea soup in a tiny bowl, which was pretty good. I would definitely recommend trying their soup. As for the banchan, we had cucumbers, broccoli, pickled radish, and kimchi. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have fish cake, but they meal the pickled radish was delicious as well. They have the main dolsot meals that I would always eat at home, such as the Bibimbap, Bulgogi, and Jaeyook Dolsot. My friend had the Ojinguh Dolsot (spicy squid) and I had the Jaeyook dolsot (spicy pork). I liked the spicy pork more, but they were both good and the crispy rice on the bottom was perfect. As someone who is addicted to spicy food, it was not spicy at all. However, my friend my does not eat spicy food as often said it was spicy but edible. Located in a small complex on Elmwood, I was pleasantly surprised to have such a nice experience here. I agree with the 16 previous yelp reviews who all gave Chin Hills a well deserved 5 stars. I had a wonderful time here for my birthday dinner (party of 10). Our waitress (and her parents) were so accommodating (especially since people from my party were trickling in even 30 minutes after we sat down). Attentive, they always checked on us to make sure that we had everything we needed, without being overbearing. There's a decent amount of seating: 5-6 booths + many scattered tables. Wasn't sure it could hold my large party at first since a yelp and google search prior to my visit did not yield many pictures of the interior. Food wise, the menu has a good mixture of korean (majority), thai, and burmese cuisine. See attached pics for some of the dishes we ordered. I recommend all of them! If I could urge you to try one new place before the winter ends it would be Chin Hills. Don't get me wrong, I love this place year round, but I highly recommend treating yourself to one of their soups while the weather is chilly. This evening I ordered the Ramen Noodle Soup with seafood and it was outstanding! Loaded with noodles, a variety of seafood (shrimp, clams, and squid), the broth was flavorful and the hearty portion filled me, even leaving leftovers to take home. I cannot believe I only paid $10 for that meal! The spice level was perfect. But as I discussed a different [spicy] dish with my friend, a woman emerged from the kitchen concerned that our dishes were too spicy. We explained that we were talking about something else but she seemed concerned. Just to be clear, my soup was incredibly satisfying and just perfect! The last time I came I enjoyed the Sabutee which is their signature dish. The owner was excited for me to try this dish and tell me about it. Sabutee is a Chin traditional corn soup served with beef or pork. The corn is not as you might expect but more of a puffed variety [see pic]. It was unique and filling. I enjoyed the dish very much. The two times prior to that visit I tried the Chicken Udon soup and the Vietnamese Pho. These were also very enjoyable. I have also had the Gaejjigae, which is a spicy crab stew. That one was a little spicy for me but quite impressive. When I wrote my previous review I was longing for them to spruce up the place a bit so that the ambiance would better compliment the wonderful service and the outstanding food. They have done this, adding pictures to the walls and other decor to create a warmer, more inviting atmosphere. It is impossible for me to name one favorite restaurant but Chin Hills would certainty be on my list of contenders. read more

Family run korean restaurant. This restaurant has many different varieties of korean food for a reasonable price. The owner here is not korean but she worked at a korean restaurant for a long time. Ask for Burmese tea which is complimentary with your meal! They do not have a BBQ table at the restaurant however you can order it and they will cook it in the kitchen. Lettuce wraps are $2 additional. You can adjust the spice level on most items. You can also make non-spicy items spicy and vice versa. The pancakes here are lower in price but they are also a lot smaller compared other korean restaurants. Good for 1-2 people to share but will need to order more than one order for larger groups. read more
