Great atmosphere, greeted immediately when I came in at 5:42, and brought to a table. Server came up to me quickly to give me water and menus. Happy hour prices were good and I ordered a couple of things to try the Shitake mushroom and the Crispy shrimp were really good. The sushi was excellent. The presentation of everything ordered was commendable. All the staff were friendly and helpful but not in a bothersome way. The blueberry cake was fantastic! Oh. My. God. I live in downtown Chicago and have spent hundreds of dollars on sushi around Chicago and around the country. The only restaurant open at 9:30pm on Monday was Ariake and I said "maybe I get food poisoning - but whatever." This place would rival any Chicago or major city Sushi spot. I travel the country and eat sushi and Japanese food often. I would expect to find this great of a dinner experience in LA, Miami, or Mexico - not Springfield, Missouri. This place is not 5 star - it's 10 star! Everything I had - from the apps, to the sashimi, to the cocktails were perfectly executed and extremely delicious. Even the music was on point. I attended a dinner here with colleagues and was a little apprehensive as I am not overly familiar with Japanese food. Our server was wonderful in explaining details of the menu as well as suggesting some great options. I tried food that I had never tried before and was pleasantly surprised that the raw scallop dish (I don't recall the name) was delicious with each ingredient complimenting each other wonderfully. I ended up having the sea bass that was cooked beautifully as well as some lamb and given that I had never had either I was very happy that they were both delicious. Ariake went above and beyond all expectations. The food was spectacular. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, with my favorites being the sea bass, premium nigiri, A5 wagyu hot stone, and brussels sprouts. Everything was presented and prepared so beautifully. Each dish felt like a piece of art that I was fortunate enough to take a part in enjoying. The nigiri, sea bass, and wagyu were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the brussels had the perfect balance of crunch and sauce. The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing; the decor is obviously detail-oriented, my favorite piece being a video of a calming sea on a large screen against a wall. The service was also wonderful, everyone was attentive and welcoming. There's something special about Ariake. What a beautiful establishment. The interior is breathtaking with a sophisticated and friendly ambiance. It also hosts a great indoor/outdoor sitting area with sliding doors that completely open. The sushi is mouthwatering and a work of art. You can tell the owners take pride in procuring the freshest ingredients they can find, locally and internationally. We had the West Coast oyster, the oyster with caviar, the AMAZING Caesar salad, black pink roll, two other rolls (can't recall the name), robata filet, robata lamb, miso soup, fresh wasabi, tuna sashimi, otoro, saba nigiri. All of it was really, really good. Unbelievable food and fantastic service! We went for the first time. Logan was our server. He was amazing. And the food was some of the best I have had! Everyone who worked there was so nice. My wife and I went here for a date night and got just about everything on the menu. We may have gone a little overboard, because after looking at the menu there were so many things we wanted to try that sounded interesting. For reference my wife is NOT a seafood person, and I can count on one hand the number of times she has eaten anything from the ocean in the 16 years I have known her. I on the other hand LOVE seafood and will really only stop short of eating creatures that are still moving (the dancing squid bowl or Tuna eyeballs in Tokyo were just too much for me to handle). I will say I really like the aesthetic, just cool, modern, and classy. Even the exterior lets you know what you are paying for inside. I started my journey with a few drinks, and ordered a Kirin Ichiban (my favorite Japanese beer), and an Ariake Old Fashion. Similar to a regular Old Fashion, but Ariake uses Japanese Whiskey and Mezcal. With the Mezcal adding a nice smokiness to it, which I very much enjoyed. Then we went all out on the appetizers. The Crispy Shrimp (for me), the Karaage (crispy chicken thigh), the Yaki Avocado, and the Ariake Garlic Noodles. All were excellent and screamed high quality. My only complaint was the Crispy Shrimp was just three smallish shrimp, and the sauce was essentially flavorless. However, the shrimp's breading was in fact very crispy while the shrimp inside was delicious and tender. I would say any of the appetizers weren't super complicated to make, but what sold me was that everything was high-quality, fresh, and done simply in the right way. I then got busy with my seafood problem, and ordered two Uni (sea urchin), and two Unagi (eel) Nigiri, along with a specialty roll the Suki Sake (fried crab, salmon, truffle oil and eel sauce), and all were again, excellent. The Nigiri brought me back to my younger days in Japan, which was strange, considering the land locked geography of Springfield, MO, and the roll was something very unique and just stupid good. That roll was probably my favorite thing of the night, while my wife's was the Garlic Noodles. Then we went gangbusters and ordered two A5 Hot Rocks, each containing 3oz of thinly sliced A5 Miyazaki Wagyu. With a type of steak like that you can taste the first-class quality. It is super tender, clean, and deep in flavor. And lastly service for a Saturday night was attentive and our server personable. He kept apologizing for the wait which was unnecessary as everything came out from the kitchen with perfect timing. Once we were done with one thing here came another. The owner/manager? came by as well and apologized, and checked in with us, and she was very nice as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and with Ariake you get what you pay for, and in the best of ways. read more

The service was amazing. Reeza was our waitress and she was so nice and gave us excellent recommendations. We tried a little bit of everything. The lamb was phenomenal and tender with lots of flavor. We got the blank pink sushi roll which was packed full of flavor and you could tell the fish was fresh. Got a couple pieces of different nigiri and each was delicious. The manager was very friendly as well, going around asking each table if they were enjoying their experience and food. Great fun to just order a bunch of small bites and drinks and keep a menu around for ordering the next rounds. Standouts for me are the spicy seafood soup, pretty much anything off the Robata, but especially the bacon tomatoes, chicken thighs, shiitake mushrooms. I feel like even a person who is very "meat and tomatoes" would still find an awesome meal here, albeit with some fun surprises.
