We decided to celebrate Valentine's a little early this year and came to Aria. This was my second time dining at Aria and, just as before, this was an amazing experience!
[FOOD&DRINKS]
I feel like you really can't go wrong at this fine dining establishment. The taste, presentation, and atmosphere is always on point. I had initially wanted to chow down on the 7-course tasting menu, reasonably priced at $75 per person, but it unfortunately didn't include some of my must-tastes. Instead, between my BF and I, we ordered four snacks and appetizers to share: brie de meaux ($8), yellowtail hamachi (~$16), butter braised lobster (~$24), and foie gras ($24). Both hardcore carnivores, we decided on two meat entrees: spinalis steak (~$36) and venison (~37). A small basket of buttered soft bread was served at the table.
We started off with the brie. I love cheese but I can't do overpowering cheeses. Stuff like blue or goat cheese really puts a bad taste in my mouth. Thus, I stick to safe cheeses like brie and buratta plates. The brie cheese plate is considered a "snack" on Aria's menu and was the first dish served to our table. The brie is served with apricot preserves, walnuts, and toasted ciabatta. A simple and tasty dish to kick off the night. I just wish there was a tad bit more apricot preserves to go with the brie and ciabatta.
Next, our three appetizers poured in. Our waiter was very attentive in making sure we got each plate right after the other--there was no lag-time in between dishes (wonderful!). The first appetizer we got was the yellowtail Hamachi. I am a big fan of yellowtail and BOY was this yellowtail out of this world. The fish was creamy and oh, it just melted in my mouth! The yellowtail is served with slices of grapefruit, orange, radish and avocado. I didn't take a bite of everything mixed together because I really wanted to savor the flavor of the yellowtail. Next came the buttered lobster. As to be expected, the lobster appetizer leaned towards the smaller side. Because my BF and I were sharing, everything came conveniently split between two plates. We each got a sample of the lobster on creamy truffle mashed potatoes and broccoli mousseline. Although, one mini-complaint would be I didn't really taste any truffle in the potatoes. Still, take a bite of everything, you won't regret it! Our final appetizer was one we both looked forward to the most, the foie gras. I hear Aria has one of the best foie gras south of New York, is that true? Oh boy, what delicacy! Aria's foie gras tastes as foie gras should, a perfect blend of silky and savory deliciousness, so rich and buttery it just melts in your mouth. WOW! I was not disappointed and this was definitely my favorite dish of the night.
Finally, our entrées. Honestly, I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. I was already decently full without the entrees. But, how can I not try the venison? The idea itself is blasphemous (first world problems)! I have to comment on the presentation of the two entrees we got, B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! I liked how the food looked almost like it was scattered across the plate absent-mindedly, a little bit here and a little bit there. The taste was, of course, out of this world. I preferred my BF's steak, while he preferred my venison. The venison had more flavor packed into it than the steak. Both meats were cooked to a perfect level of tenderness.
Unfortunately, after a basket of bread, one snack, three appetizers, two entrees and drinks, we didn't have any room leftover for desserts. Next time!
[SERVICE]
Impeccable! Our waiter was attentive yet did not hover. Like I said, my BF and I shared everything so every dish we ordered was conveniently pre-split between two plates. As soon as we finished, our next course came. No lag time, which really made the "flow" of the evening perfect. I just wanted to note we had some very nice people sitting on either side of us and we were able to make good conversations!
[ATMOSPHERE&LOCATION]
Located in Buckhead, in the same lot as some hotel. I feel like Aria could easily be missed if not for our GPS. Getting a reservation is highly recommended but I did see a few spots open at the bar when I visited on Friday evening.
Overall, what's not to love about this place? Will be sure to come back again soon! read more
