Whitney, our server, who has been here 2 1/2 years, is their best, and she helped make our dinner delightful. I started with the full lobster app, at $23. Served in a large martini glass, this is a special treat. Butter poached lobster...what could be bad?? Next up was mountain trout @ $26, and I had the short ribs (specialty of the house)@$29. My wife loved the fish, and while my meat dish was certainly excellent, I'd opt for something else next time. Caramel cake @ $8 was just average (sorry Kate). Their corkage fee of $25 is steep, but compared to their wine list, this is okay (we brought an '89 Mondavi reserve from our cellar). We really need to come back here more frequently. read more

Went to Aria twice in December 2021 - once for a date night and once with friends. Liked it both times.. Bread Service is amazing and menu is seasonal so got to try a bunch of menu items. Things I ate - burrata, crab cake, beet salad, filet, sea bass, chocolate cheesecake. Crab cake exceeded expectations. Also loved the filet. Chocolate cheesecake was eh - I bet they have better desserts. Service is always great and valet is convenient. read more

If I had to sum up Aria in one word I would have to choose "interesting". While the food was delicious, the ambiance felt forced and awkward. To start off with, the only parking option is valet parking unless you want to walk across the street and take your chances parking at a hotel. With a 1999 car, valet parking is definitely not an option I am ever terribly excited about. Once you head inside, you are greeted by a heavy beaded curtain that separates the hostess area from the bar. It is a tad awkward to navigate, especially in heels. The bar seemed nice, but definitely didn't quite match the rest of the restaurant. The main dining room was again nice, but the decorations were strange and noticeably unrelated. There were two bejeweled dog sculptures, a painting on the wall that we dubbed the "insane asylum wall cutout", and a lamp that looked like... well, I will say the Pokemon "Cloyster" (see photos! sorry they are not the best lighting). Together, we dubbed the place "Cruella De Vil's Mansion". We started by splitting a mixed greens salad. It was tasty except for the beets- which I just don't care for. They brought out bread as well and it was good. For dinner, we got a mushroom risotto and and trout in a bed of lobster bisque and veggies. Both were incredible and delicious. As it was my birthday, we also got a little cake, which was okay, but I could have gotten something similar from Publix. I also got a beer: the Victory Belgian Tripel. It was delicious. Overall, I gave this place three stars. Again, the food was great but being crowded by neighboring tables and everything else detracted from the rating I choose. read more

My husband made reservations to dine at the coveted wine cellar table for our anniversary in October several months in advance. However, he received a call today from the hostess that they regret to inform us that they have to cancel our reservations at the table we booked MONTHS in advance, but they would happily sit us in the main dining room. My husband asked to speak to the manager, who made some BS excuse and eventually hung up on him! He was rude and callous and didn't even care to make the situation right. It had been a couple years since my wife and I went here. We don't live in Atlanta, but come every couple months for a weekend and usually always trying to go somewhere new and different. This time, I decided to return to the best meal I have ever had in Atlanta to see if it has stood the test of time and the verdict...absolutely YES!!! Aria offers a truly wonderful dining experience. From the moment you walk in and greet you, take you to the small but oh so sexy bar to get you set up with drinks, and escort you to your table, you know from the first moments their patrons matter to them. Both wife and I started with a perfect fresh, simple, perfectly executed salad with arugula and escarole, spiced pecans, plums and wonderfully simple lemon vinaigrette. For my entree I had the most succulent, fall off the bone lamb shank over a smooth polenta and roasted vegatables. A wonderful start to fall. Wife had the most beautiful, perfectly cooked scallops that had a great crust and melted in your mouth. We finished with a shared desert of a warm apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Sweet apples cooked into a great crust. Its a beautiful restaurant with a romantic atmosphere. Service is perfect. Helpful, but not pushy and always there to help. It is a place for a special night as it is pricey, but 5 star meals like this are and Aria deserves every star it gets. Can't wait to go back. Just a quick update. Went again on a quick weekend visit to ATL. I will say it again...one of the best dining experiences you will have ANYWHERE! From the moment you walk into the restaurant you are greeted graciously and with a smile. From helping you at the bar, to showing you to your table, everything is done with class and graciousness. Not fou fou or uppity, but just treating you with the right amount of care and thoughtfulness. No wonder they are nominated for a James Beard award for best service. They are always there to help, but not in your face. Just always in the background making sure you have everything you need. New forks and knives just appear quietly without interruption, but are there. And the food...just sheer perfection. Had the arugula salad with just the right amount of Parmagiana regiano on top and a light lemon dressing. My wife had a celery soup that had no cream, but was so rich and delicious, with black truffles that it was divine. For entree I had the scallops which were perfectly cooked and although only 4, they were so big, I could not even finish the last one. It was served with a beautiful mixture of peas and greens. Wife had the lemon sole with a light Panko crust with capers and lemon buerre blanc sauce. DELicious. TOpped it all off with the apple tart served warm with just the right of ginger to cut through the sweetness. The crust was more like a cookie type crust and not pastry which I just loved. This was one of the most absolutely incredible dining experiences that I've had in a very long time. Aria is a place that is severely understated from the outside. As you're driving down East Paces Ferry past this little house on the corner, you would not know that you're passing by one of the finest dining establishments that the city of Atlanta has to offer. I had their breast of duck with brussel sprouts. The duck was prepared perfectly, the sprouts were delectable, and the presentation was extraordinary!!! This is a great place to take clients, but it also has a very romantic vibe that's perfect for celebrating an anniversary ( our purpose for being there) or engagement. Dined here for the first time with a family member. Even though we made a reservation there was an additional wait of 20 minutes before being seated. The bar/waiting area is small and cramped. During the meal, the service was overly attentive. So much so, that i felt like I was being constantly interrupted. The food was expensive, which was to be expected, but nothing really stood out to me as being exceptional. I ordered a tequila cocktail that tasted average and I had a difficult time finishing it. Overall, an average experience. For the price I expected better tasting food. The restaurant is located in an unusual area and i wasn't impressed with the interior either. I had heard so much about Aria that my expectations were high. I doubt I will return again. There are a number of other excellent fine dining establishments in Atlanta. read more

Atlanta traffic is nasty. For my last night in town I thought I'd leave the car parked and walk to a nearby place. On Piedmont there are a number of options. After checking a few listings I realized that one of Atlanta's finest was right around the corner. A short walk and I was about to enjoy a very good meal. The Beet Salad was beautifully presented. The Short Ribs were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. To finish the Tangerine dessert was perfect. I enjoyed Aria. The interior could use an update but the recommendations from the wait staff were spot-on and the pacing was perfect. Need to park the car and eat someplace close? Try Aria. Me and my newlywed husband ended up eating here as part of our honeymoon journey towards home. Not only did we get a beautiful dessert congratulating us, but our waitress Bettina was amazing! We did the tasting menu with was 8 courses and it was ALL amazing. We left my husband's hat accidentally that night and we were SO upset we got it out of the country on our honeymoon I immediately called and told them. They offered to mail it to us since we didn't live local. The owner personally called me and mailed it priority to us! We will be back for sure they went above and beyond! Aria is probably one of the more romantic restaurants I've been to in Atlanta, however, the food isn't memorable. The scene: A hostess greets you immediately upon entering into the quaint, dimly lit space. The vibe is classy, romantic, & elegant. You see guests canoodling at the narrow bar, enjoying a quiet conversation. It's already evident it's a great place for a date! After checking in with our reservation, we strolled past the bar & into the main dining room. The dining area opens up to a slightly brighter, convivial atmosphere. The crowd is mature, professional. Although it's upscale, it doesn't feel pretentious. They do a great job with the staff to guest ratio - there are plenty of servers & attendants to make sure your water glass stays full, cocktails are refreshed & dishes are cleared. There's never a lull in service. And they're all polite & professional. The food: Yellowtail hamachi appetizer ($14) - colorful presentation - light & flavorful with grapefruit & ponzu. She crab soup ($11) - (with an optional shot of sherry) - rich & creamy Butter braised lobster ($14) - beautiful presentation Breast of duck ($30+) - rich flavor, cooked to your liking. Crab cake appetizer ($14) - not my idea of a crab cake - lots of breading & appeared to be deep fried. It looked more like a hush puppy! What an amazing night! Came here with my wife and we had a great time. We chose the 6 course tasting menu and everything was wonderful. First Course - Chilled Avocado Soup: I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors of the soup. I'm not a huge soup fan, but this was amazing. It was rather light and the lime compliments the avocado quite well. This was a great opener for the following courses. Second Course- Yellowtail Hamachi with grapefruit, avocado, radish, and ponzu. Out of all the courses this was my least favorite. It was still very good. You could tell the fish was fresh and combo of the orange and grapefruit were great. Third Course- Scallop with white corn, lady peas, butter beans, and bacon. All I can say is Wow!!! Overall this was a wonderful dish. The corn and bacon were clever compliments to the scallop and the scallop was seared with perfection. Fourth Course- Crisped Duck confit with lentil & celery salad and an amazing vadouvan creme fraiche. The creme fraiche was the best I've ever had, the flavor was bold that boosted the dish entirely. Fifth Course- Rack of Lamb with lady peas, grean beans, and chanterelles: the lamb was very tender and juicy and I couldn't get enough of it. Sixth Course- Chocolate Caramel Cake with Orange Ice cream: the chocolate cake was extremely rich and had a sugary crisp on the outside that paired well with the ice cream. This was a fantastic dessert. My wife enjoyed everything as much as I did. The meal was perfect and the restaurant itself is very modern and nice on the inside. My only complaint is that the noise level in the dining room is quite loud during the peak hours of the evening. We will most definitely return! read more

My husband and I went here for our 1 year marriage anniversary. As soon as we walked through the door we were warmly welcomed and our table was available immediately. This place had a romantic vibe and atmosphere. Our server was very helpful and attentive to our needs. We did not have one problem! For starters, we had the potato gnocchi which was divine, I'm not usually crazy about mushrooms but the ones in this dish were sooo good. The sauce on the gnocchi was what made it. Perfect size appetizer to split. Not too big, not too small. For an entree, I had the pork shoulder on cheese risotto with red bell pepper and bacon marmalade. Everything down to the red pepper was delicious. Pork was tender and perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the orange panna cotta. It was not the best panna cotta I ever had, but it was still good. On both our plates it said "Happy First Anniversary" in chocolate. I was very impressed that they had not only remembered that it was our anniversary, but that they even specified the year. I get it if you want to charge for bread, but charging everyone at the table even if they don't want bread, "just in case that person may eat a piece of bread" seems petty and cheap for a $220 dinner bill. The service was great, the ambiance was awesome, and I just love love love the decor. Most importantly, the food was one of THE BEST I've had in Atlanta. My husband and I came with a group of 2 other couples and most of us got the restaurant week option. The thing I loved was that the waitress did not scorn at us when we ordered the restaurant week option, and she also did not try to get us to order wine (this happened at capital grille - we were essentially harassed to order a bottle). I also loved how the restaurant week menu is on the daily printed menu so you don't feel like a total cheap-o :) I had the trout with lobster mashed potatoes and sweet peas and it was TO DIE FOR. I swear, I am still thinking about how yummy this meal was and we ate there last night. The soup and dessert were so so but the main meal - my god - so yummy!!! Service was superb and the entire time I was there I kept thinking of possible ways to get myself back at Aria so I can have another meal. From the time I looked at the menu and saw that I was interested in not one, but five different entrees, to the time I ate my yummy meal, to the time we left and I was sad to leave such awesome decor behind. Food first I steered clear of the entrees and tried: 1. the tomato soup (delicious - great texture and flavor) 2. the crab cakes (the slaw and sauce were more amazing than the crab cakes) 3. a side of parmesan polenta (not sure what kind of fairy dust they used in them, but they were tasty) 4. the gnocchi with summer veggies (gnocci was firm and homemade and veggies a mix of raw and cooked but not buttered or southern-overdone). Hubbie ordered the snapper and was pleasantly surprised at how much food was delivered. Perfect portion. Wine second Wine was awesome but I was disappointed (and knocked a star off) as to no sommelier. Really? For the number of $100 wines, no sommelier? To enter the restaurant you have to walk through their dark "lounge/bar" area which has these weird, heavy dangling beads that hang from the doorway. Once you enter the restaurant area, it definitely brightens up some. Now on to the food.. Apps: warm lobster cocktail- delicious chunks of lobster in a broccoli /potato puree. foie gras- Sooo good! Apparently I was the only one in our party that liked foie gras so I devoured the whole thing myself! None for you, ALL for me! muhaha Entrees: Pan seared sea scallops- The scallops were seared to perfection and the shrimp and corn risotto was pretty tasty. I only wish there were more scallops. Prime steak- My fiance ordered this. I didn't care for the fries that came with the ribeye. The steak itself was tender, juicy and delicious! Veal chop- Yum! Red snapper- Our friend's date had this. First of all, I know it's a high end fine dinning place, people come here for dating or business dinner. But the review is for Buckhead Restaurant Week (BRW 4.16-23 2016) only. I would give the service 3.5 stars and the BRW menu 3 stars, the steak itself 5 stars. It's a $35 per person Prix Fixe menu. We had a group of 4. We know it's a busy BRW weekend, and Aria is quite a small cute place, quite a full house. I assume our table look quite young and didn't order the expensive wine, so the waiters are quite busy but moving fast...the shinning point tonight is the steak, admittedly they got some AAA level quality meat here, that's what it famous for. I didn't see too much devotion and design of its BRW menu (starter: crab soup or salad, entree: steak or salmon, dessert: strawberry short cake with lemon curd...that's it, it looks great as those fancy dessert on Charlie Trotter's text book but its taste didn't make me feel touched....they just take it easy...No surprises for potential costumers like us. I think any eatery owner should take this sorta of "restaurant week" as an opportunity: either create something new for RW menu only or put some more signature items on it. One thing need to keep on mind, not big portion for BRW, more like sampling dish. read more

My best advice is to go with a few people that won't be afraid to taste new things. Great food, but poor service. My girlfriend surprised me with a birthday dinner at the Aria this past weekend, and I was super excited. There is complimentary valet service, and the restaurant interior is well-decorated (although not well-lit). Overall, a great place for a romantic date - there is also bar seating available. Let me start with the good part: food. We ordered the Brie and Crab Cakes to start, the Angus Filet Mignon (medium rare) to share, and an Ice Cream Sandwich to finish. We both don't eat a lot, so one appetizer and one entree is usually enough food for the two of us. The order came with a complimentary side of delicious focaccia bread. - Brie: The plate comes with a cut of brie, apricot preserves, and toasted bread. I honestly can't distinguish the quality of cheese after a certain threshold. To me, there's cheese I want to eat and cheese that I don't. It's not that difficult to fall into the first category. The brie at Aria is definitely a cheese I want to eat - and finished. It was delicious with the apricot and toasted bread (very crispy crust but soft center). It was a great starter. However, the apricot preserves taste just like Smuckers apricot preserves (which is my go-to at home, so I'm very accustomed to the taste). Nothing wrong with that. - Crab Cakes: This was my favorite part of the meal. The crab cakes are an appetizer, but it's enough to be an entree for those with smaller appetites. The order comes with 2 small crab cakes and a side of apple pecan salad. There is no shortage of crab meat in the cakes, and I love the fried exterior that adds the perfect crunch. The sweet and fresh apple pecan salad pairs well with the cakes in both texture and flavor. I would definitely order this again. - Angus Filet Mignon: Pretty straightforward - steak with a side of brussel sprouts and butternut squash puree. The steak was tender and cooked to my liking (medium rare), and the brussel sprouts were amazing (not overcooked or overseasoned). A classic choice. - Chocolate-Espresso Ice Cream Sandwich: Obviously dessert. The espresso ice cream (with specks of chocolate) is sandwiched between chocolate biscuits (?) with a side of hard hazelnut toffee. It is a dessert with a variety of textures and flavors. Not too heavy, and delicious! So service... There could be many reasons for the poor service from our server that night - our race, age, sexual orientation, his mood, miscommunication, etc. Who knows? He could honestly be the best server who was in a terrible mood. We are both Asian and in our early/mid 20s, and this doesn't work in our favor with servers that stereotype (regardless of restaurant). We had a few issues throughout our dining experience: - Few check-ins, and extremely difficult to wave down the server throughout the meal (not a huge issue in general) - Requested a box for our leftover steak, but the person clearing the tables (not our server) took our leftovers and never brought it back - Asked, "Do you guys do anything for birthdays?" and the server replied, "Yeah, you have to choose a dessert though." Thus, we ordered a dessert. Turns out it's not complimentary. This would be completely fine - classic miscommunication - but the server was extremely rude and replied with an attitude when we asked about the charge for the dessert. - The server returned with an updated check where he comped the dessert. An action that would have completely redeemed him, if he hadn't continued to explain the situation with an attitude - emphasizing how we shouldn't have gotten it for free, but he did us a favor (repeated this 2-3x to us). I assume this is a one-off scenario based on the other reviews. However, I never plan on going back. I can find food and service of better quality elsewhere. read more

Had an amazing dinner tonight - nothing new for this spot! We had several of the starters, halibut bites, spicy olives, manchego cheese, chickpea bites and the pork belly. All of them were very tasty. Our meals were the slow cooked pork, halibut and the lobster with truffle whipped potatoes and pureed brocolli - my all time favorite at this restaurant. Everything was superb! They are following all the COVID19 protocols and making sure the patrons are all safe. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. We came here to celebrate my birthday and our experience was great. I believe hubby made the reservation online. The valet was fast. The hostess were very sweet and excellent picture takers :) Our waiter was very knowledgeable providing excellent recommendations. Food is delicious and bigger portions than i expected. Atmosphere is nice however more casual (therefore a bit louder). *Tip - The floor outside is red bricks and the inside is slippery wood so I would not recommend to wear stilettos here.
