I spotted this place while walking back from one of my food truck adventures in Walsh Bay and decided that I had stumbled across a top secret neighbourhood gem.
The corner cafe is tucked away safely off the footpath of tourists but only a block down from The Lord Nelson. I bookmarked the find for a special day.
I approached the adorable cafe from the east, passing by the locals sitting outside, even giving a little wink as if to say "it's okay, your secret is safe with me", and I stepped inside.

The coffee here is nice and strong - 3 stars from this picky reviewer - (although the beans had been ground a bit too fine on my second visit, resulting in a slightly powdery taste), and they do offer a decent selection of sandwiches, wraps, and salads for under $10 on the menu that are probably worth checking out. Cheap, good, and cash only.
The thing is, Argyle Cafe really is a neighbourhood gem- I just forgot I had entered a different neighbourhood. read more
