Love a good coffee to start the day!
Kel P.

With the stiff competition for great coffee joints in Sydney CBD, Kingswood coffee certainly stand out! A small place in World Square, little setting but does some great pastry (especially chocolate ones) and an awesome coffee! Their own coffee roast blend is just great and gives the right acidity and extract. Their baristas does an awesome job in tampering and brewing, and water temp is always just right! While there's always a proper queue, you're never waiting too long which is another plus!

Really clever shopfront in World Square

Being a Melbourne Coffee Wanker is a hard lot in life. I mean, everywhere I go I am burdened with having to pay attention to dosage, notes and the length of my Baristas beard all before I can even get caffeine in to my blood! In Sydney things are a bit more laid back and the beard to normal person ratio is a lot lower. I can loosen up a bit and not get too worked up about which hillside the beans were grown on. Coffee in Sydney is for the most part okay (as opposed to Melbourne's amazing) and there's some excellence to be had if you're willing to hunt it down. Kingswood doesn't require hunting down though, it's bang in the middle of the CBD and inside the tiny shopfront cool baristas (some bearded) make excellent coffee with beans from Sensory Lab. Maybe it's the Melbourne beans, the presence of facial hair or the proud way in which they named their shop after a westie suburb, but these kids are cool - dare I say hip? I tried my luck and ordered a magic. The poor girl taking my order had no idea what I was asking for, but the barista just smiled and said "oh you're from Melbourne" as he handed it over to me.

Proper coffee at World Square! This hole in the wall does good coffee and is helped by the public seating area that is the World Square courtyard and also leads to George Street so I think it will be quite successful. Barista does a good job and I do rate the resulting cup. For me, the flat white with an extra shot is the perfect mix of silky milk and aromatic bitter caffeine.

If I have to count the cafe I most frequent during my recent trip, this will be it. The coffee here is milder and the milk is sweeter. I know some people prefer their coffee stronger but I actually prefer it this way. (I had to add sugar to my coffee because it was too bitter even with the milk at the other Sydney coffee shops. Coffee aside, the cronuts and cruffin are my doom. Did I also mention their croissants are excellent here too? Last but not least, I like them using pink pens to write my order on the coffee lids XD

Best coffee spot around world square

I go there a lot for coffee breaks and love this 'hypster' spot in the middle of the very corporate environment of world square. The baristas are great fun. The coffee is awesome. And, trust the advice of a frenchman - the croissants are pricey but better than many places in France !

Well, the line outside a coffee shop certainly does say a thing or two about the quality of the coffee inside, and I have to admit that the quality of the coffee inside this shop was certainly second to none. Well, okay, maybe it wasn't the best coffee that I've had, but it was certainly up there with some of the best. Mind you, I was lucky and managed to get here just before the crowds descended upon the place because as I sat down on one of the benches outside I saw the line grow ever longer. Mind you, looking at the reviews, and the ratings, certainly does seem to support my proposition regarding the quality of their coffee.

Do not be fooled by the long line. The humble and welcoming staff will address your coffee demand in just minutes!

Such a small and cozy coffee with a bustling crowd craving for a small cup of Joe. This little cafe store front has been around for quite some time and is well known to World Square locals. The coffee is absolutely tasty!

Odd location smack in the middle of Chinatown but terrific coffee and yummy pastries.

Our drinks were out in 3-5 minutes and our food was out within about 5-7 minutes after. As soon as we finished we were given our checks to pay at the front. I think we were here for only 45 minutes and it was amazing! I started out with the iced strawberry matcha and my husband had their iced mocha. The iced mocha was good but the iced strawberry matcha was flawless. The strawberries were so fresh and the matcha was just perfect itself. Great combo together! My husband had the free range eggs on toast and I had the eggs Benedict. His was delicious but the eggs Benedict was amazing. The crispy kale really sold me as it was delectable in each bite. Eggs were poached to perfection and the truffle hollandaise was just delicious. Couldn't have had a better experience if we tried!

For a larger party, coming in with a reservation was convenient since they are pretty busy and change tables often. Service staff were efficient and very friendly. Ordering was easy as well. Their seasonal specials is definitely worth the look over. I had the peanut butter shake and although it didn't look it, it tasted very much like peanut butter in liquid form. I also got to try the summer breeze watermelon salad. That was refreshing. It had a mix of greens, dressing, feta and a crisp prosciutto. I've never had prosciutto served fried; it was delicious. The whole piece married well, and I wish I knew the background of how it was created. I loved every bite! Although the place was crowded, it can still be intimate. Besides indoor seating, they also have a patio and seating outside.

We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop, but it's essentially a restaurant that also has a focus on coffee. They have a full bar and a window to the outside where you can order just coffee and tea to go. As for the interior it's dimly lit and sort of has romantic date night vibes. We essentially only ordered coffee and one person ordered a cake slice. The lychee cake was pretty good per my aunt. A couple people ordered the Coco Loco, which is basically an espresso martini on steroids with Nutella and something like a Ferrero Rocher. I ordered a latte and their Affogato. The latte was very smooth and BI is arguably one of the best I've ever had. Is the Affogato a cheat code because they use like a tiramisu ice cream? You could argue that case. You can also buy their blends of coffee beans, subject to availability. While the latte was very smooth, I can't say it was mind blowing but it was still pretty good.

I also reserve 4 and 5 star reviews for exceptional service with unforgettable dining experiences. The ambience is intimate but also noisy. I will say the coffee here and in Australia in general is some of the best coffee I've ever had. I ordered (2) espresso martinis, pancakes, and the sirloin steak breakfast with a side hashbrown. My pancakes were stone cold but I will say the aesthetics on it made it edible. The pistachio butter cream was to die for. My steak was ok ; for the price I simply just wanted more. I could be wrong but I doubt it was even 6oz. If you have this place on your radar be sure to make reservations. This goes for almost every restaurant in Sydney. My server was Cassie who was very personable and even gave us tips on what to watch out for dining in Sydney.

Located next to Victoria Park and near Uni Row, I was surprised to have found this gem that the locals get to enjoy everyday. Walking in, a barista takes your order for takeaway and has you standing behind them as they make your order. There is plenty of seating inside, but those are reserved for those dining in. They have their roastery in the back, with large windows separating from the cafe. We had visited twice here and each time was a great experience. I had the opportunity to try both their Ethiopian and their Guatemalan long blacks, and the tasting notes do stand out.
