The Glasgow Vintage Co - See, I wasn't playing with you. Ten. Pounds.

Kelvinbridge, Great Western Road, West End

My partner and I stopped by Glasgow Vintage Co our last day in Glasgow. There are a few vintage…read morestores around this area, but of the bunch, this one definitely had the best selection. When you walk in, you clearly get the vibe that this is a university student's frequent haunt. As we shopped here, students came in and out, receive a discount, and generally have their needs met with the types of clothing available. However, the selection of clothes in the store isn't so student oriented that a wider audience won't be able to find something of interest. The first floor is more women's oriented, with tartan featuring prominently. The second floor is men's, which had some decent selections of Fred Perrys and the like. When we were there, the store was staffed just by a couple girls on the first floor, and they were pretty deep in conversation with each other. Didn't bother us at all, but perhaps don't expect to have staff catering to your every need here. But if you just like to do your thing and browse through the racks, you should be well sorted.,

TL;DR bad quality, overpriced, cheeky response. Would like…read moreto say the staff member on when I was in was lovely. However... I spent good money (too much) on trousers that had an irreparable defect that I did not notice until I put them on at home. I understand this is a risk with 2nd hand clothing, and places don't accept returns etc, but I do draw the line at paying ~£30 for something I literally can't wear. I messaged their instagram page about it and expressed my disappointment that they weren't willing to reconcile this in any way (I said I felt this was poor customer service) and the message I received back was so cheeky I am honestly in disbelief. So here I am doing the only thing I can do since I've literally wasted my money.

Not a bad place. Cuts the journey to town or other shopping centres like the Fort…read more It has the same shops as most of these retail parks, so if you are in or around this area it is very handy. Shops like B&Q, Halfrauds, Argos, Matalan, Boots, M&S, Sports Direct and that popular pasta place that I confuse with the ice cream...Ben & Jerry's. I only really use it for Sports Direct new gym stuff or football gear. You have a few more stores here but I cannot remember their names don't want to be giving you false info. There is a Burger King just at the entrance to this place if that is what you are into. If you are travelling through, there is a shell garage right next to this place for fuel top up. This place used to be pointless but new shops have popped up and it is getting a little better.

As well as the biggest Marks & Spencer Simply Food that I have ever seen, it also houses an Argos, a B&G, a couple of furniture and bed shops, some carpet shops, a Curry's,a homebase and a halfords. Basically, it's great place to go if you're doing a bit of redecorating and DIY. There's also a drive-through Burger King if you're peckish. The great thing about this place is that there's a huge car park which is completely free.

I used to work in the East End of Glasgow and could not believe it when I came across this little…read moreboutique! It sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the greasy spoon cafés and sun bed centres! It looks really lovely inside with nice dark wooden flooring and everything is so neat and tidy. If you have ever seen the episode of Cribs where they look at Mariah Carey's New York apartment, Cocoberry looks like her dressing room! You feel like you are really in a giant, well organized wardrobe rather than a shop! Imagine my disappointment then when I had a look at the actual stock itself and was pretty disappointed. I thought I might find something really unusual and quirky. Maybe I'm getting old but I just found a lot of it pretty trashy. There was the odd nice little dress but nothing which said, "BUY ME! BUY ME NOW!" The dresses were exactly the same in style as you could find in any high street chain store, except more expensive. Loads of girls will love Cocoberry and I really can see why. The dresses they sell look like dresses I see girls wearing in clubs and bars on a Saturday night. Unfortunately I am just a 1950s Betty through and through and didn't find anything to suit my personal taste.

Lovely their stock may be, however I find this place a little pricey for it's less than glamorous location. However, I think Cocoberry might be positioning itself as a little corner of cool amongst the dingy Dennistoun streets, perhaps as the ultimate place to treat yourself to that to-die-for dress, a place to splurge and indulge in some serious retail therapy. Throwing swipe at the credit crunch, this place offers the ultimate in tempting attire, making it a very clever coco indeed.

I had the opportunity to speak with the team who have brought Saint Genevieve to life and their genuine and heartfelt commitment to bring sparkle to the the East End had me all gooey inside. While you Yelpers will know I'm more Snaffled-From-Oxfam than Designer-Vixen, I instantly loved the eclectic mix of styles, vibrant colours, ultra-feminine shapes and edgy embellishments on pieces all lovingly gathered from smaller/independent brands. From simple cardis and blouses to all-out-sequinned-green-and-candy-floss-pink mini dresses, a lot of thought has been put into this collection. As a curvy girl who LIVES AND DIES in midi length, the hem lines are too high for me - but I realise that Wednesday Adams is not everyone's modesty barometer. So, if you're off to Tibo or drooling for Dennistoun Bar-B-Que - or just on the hunt for a super cute party frock - be sure to pop into Saint Genevieve; a welcome dazzler now home on Duke Street.
