Argos is such a weird concept to a person who didn't grow up in the UK. I still remember my first visit, I had no idea what the hell was going on or where any of the actually things were to buy.
Let me explain. You go into Argos and it's like a waiting room, with catalogues and computer screens. You pick what you want and pay, and then wait about 5-10 minutes for it to appear from the secret warehouse out the back. It's kind of mysterious and fun, yet silly. It's not really suitable for browsing - you need to know what you want.
I've visited here for too many random purchases - tanks of helium, mostly. I like that you can check online and see if it's available, and then order it for collecting. I can't say the staff are amazing at customer service but maybe they're just as confused about the whole set up as me. read more
