We ordered to go here years ago, and we were next door at Mangomix and decided to give this place a try in person. There was a huge party here so there was literally one low table left and the rest are chairs at the bar and two high tables. Thankfully we got the low table and meanwhile people kept coming in. Our order took a while but understandable bc there's only one person cooking and she did such a great job. This is a small family and they are Puerto Rican and Venezuelan this that food is what you will find here. You will find a good mix of Venezuelan arepas as well as entrees such as sancocho and mofongo. Happy that we ate here. A lot of people took their food to go, but it definitely tastes much better straight from the kitchen. read more

If you're looking for some amazing Latin food, this place is a hidden gem!!! The owners are great, and the food is always fresh and delicious! We started off with some sangrias, and it was perfectly made. My shredded beef empanada was incredible and I loved the sauce they served it with! My mom got the shrimp stuffed mofungo and it was DELICIOUS! The shrimp was really fresh and the mofungo had so much flavor. My boyfriend got a shredded beef arepa, and it was also really good too - really crunchy. I'll definitely be coming back for that mofungo! read more

Arepa Mia is a wonderful gem in the Wesley Chapel area! For one, there's been a growing need for Spanish food in this area (this place is Puerto rican/Venezuelan). I tried this place today for the first time and ordered the mini arepas with cheese as an appetizer and the puerto rican pastel. Both were delicious. The mini arepas, both in yelp pictures and in person, looks like the cheese has not melted yet, but when you bite into it, the cheese is perfectly mixed into the arepa, that you are biting off strings of cheese just to get the full bit in your mouth. Hence why it's called "arepa mia", right? I recommend, btw. What I was craving at 12pm, was a sancocho soup, a hearty beef soup, which unfortunately they did not have at the time. I'm not sure if its served on certain days, but I have to come back and try it, because the next stop would be driving into Tampa to get a good classic bowl of it! I tried the shrimp Asopado, instead, and it did not disappoint! Actually, I loved it and would tell my friends and family to try this place out. The food's taste and value, the tampa native decor, and friendly staff is what makes this place special. So glad to have experienced this restaurant. P.S. the pastel is medium sized, and has a good amount of meat inside. We also ordered the arepa with shredded beef and cheese, was pretty yummy, will probably try a different filling next time. The cuban sandwich was traditional on the inside, and the bread, a little sweeter and soft, almost doughy, not as traditional, but still good. If you prefer a softer Cuban, you would love the Cuban from here. Thank you Arepa Mia! See you soon. read more

The food is AMAZING!!! This place is a little hole in the wall but the food is to die for! Go right now!

Cozy little spot in the cut. The ground beef empanada was like my momma made it (puerto Rican style) crunchy and well seasoned. The owner Jose was super nice, pleasant to talk to and accommodating. I also ordered the pepito with fried cassava and had a wine based whiskey shot which was smooth as heck. The pepito samich was tasty, hot and filling. I'm giving him 4 instead of 5 because I asked if the sauce was in there for the cassava fries and it wasn't. And he "checked".. read more

This restaurant is amazing! This is a family owned business (Colombian and Puerto Rican) which showcases typical food from both places. The chicken avocado arepa with cilantro mayo is out of this world! It is perfectly grilled and not greasy at all. The corn empanadas stuffed with shredded beef are crazy delicious! You can tell everything is made by hand. We stopped here on our way from Tampa to Ocala. It was worth the 5 minutes out of the way. read more

The food was really good, we ordered tequeños and empanadas what I think is an essential in any Venezuelan Kitchen. Very hot food, amazing flavors, sauces were good as well but I never seen Tequeños with Marinara Sauce on the side but no complaints everything was over the expectations. Juices as mango and tamarindo are a very good alternative option for sodas. This guys opened two months ago and their doing good, Wesley chapel needs more Venezuelan places like this one, the food may take a lil longer but I understand everything tasted fresh and no frozen. Good luck to this fellows. read more

We come frequently to this place with my family. We ask to them for certain changes like no diary for me or my son and they are accommodating because of our allergies. They have variety of food. My favorite one is also the mofongo with octopus and my husband likes the chicken one. My uncle liked the sancocho but I can't eat it because if it's made with red meat. My son like the carne encebollada (with grilled onions) I suggested to have a side of chicharrón with the arepas like in my country and they are considering since they have it in the big appetizer dish. Great arepas and empanadas! Little bit of a wait for the food, but it's worth the wait. Cute little Venezuelan place!

Absolutely incredible food with customer service to match. Everything is nice and clean, also.

As a Venezuelan I was very excited about this restaurant opening in the area. We stopped by a few days ago and it was definitely not what I expected, a little disappointing to be honest. Food isn't authentic Venezuelan food (like the empanadas for example). On top of that, many of the dishes that were on the menu are not being offered anymore, such as the Venezuelan barbecue, Venezuelan hot gods and pizza empanada. The service was ok but there wasn't any kind of acknowledgement when we walked in despite being the only costumers in the place and we had to show ourselves the way to our table read more

I really wanted to like this place, and had been looking forward to its opening. However, I was highly disappointed with our overall experience. SERVICE: By far the best thing about this place. I was greeted warmly with a smile, however, not provided napkins, plates or utensils with my meal. FOOD: We ordered two Venezuelan Barbecue and it disappointed: bed of fries, 2 hotdog links, a sausage, blood sausage, and 4 unseasoned pieces of burned beef (about the size of peanut butter cup) in each box. Green salsa was delicious, unfortunately they ran out on us. I ordered two boxes for three people and we were left still hungry. Needless to say, our Mother's Day dinner was very mediocre. PRICE: $43, we were charged $3 extra for extra meat that I never ordered. The day after, I ordered a picada from La Cabaña in Tampa for $28, three of us ate, we were stuffed with leftovers. I'm hoping it was only the barbecue because everyone else seems to like the spot...doubt I'll be back. read more

Decided to go here with my sister for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It's a cute little spot with 3 tables that seat four and some sets at the bar area! When we can in we were greeted with a smile as an acknowledgement to say "we see you". We seated ourselves and were given a menu and had our orders taken! The menu was a lot more simple than I was expecting but the food was Delicious! We had a shredded chicken and shredded beef arepa and a chicken empanada and ground beef empanada and order of fries!! The ground beef empanada was a little bland but still good! Everything was delicious and we left extremely stuffed! The only bad things I'd say is i wish they had a little bit more on the menu, also you won't have any phone service in there. Also it can get a bit warm in there. Would recommend for a delicious take out! read more

The place is very cozy. Only 4 tables inside and 2 outside and a bar. I ordered the chicken and avocado arepa. It was delicious. My husband ordered the Cuban and was good as well. Both orders are big we ended up boxing the rest . The service was excellent. Mask must be worn to enter the place. read more

First off, I was really craving a Hispanic place to eat at and it's really hard ti find spots in the lutz/Wesley Chapel area. I came in and although it's a smaller spot it is filled with so much love. Everyone is super welcoming and they have a great staff. There was live music and everything!!! It reminded me a lot of my culture and that's what it is all about! I'll make sure to come back soon! Muchas gracias por todo! read more

Consistently delicious food. Obsessed with their sancocho. Highly recommend this place.

I was looking forward to eating here but was slightly disappointed. Arepas are either part of a full breakfast with other items or street food designed for snacking on the go (think of a taco or hotdog) The main problem I had was with the pricing. Street food is intended to be inexpensive and convenient. The prices were outrageous for the kind of food that it is meant to be. Arepas aren't meant to be sit down restaurant quality but they're charging sit down restaurant prices. I had two cheese arepas for $15!! C'mon. They were tasty and the sauces (which weren't offered but I had to ask for-- I know the place is new and they have to watch each penny) were good too. But I won't return because of the prices. That's ridiculous for arepas. I'm not cheap and I'm willing to pay decent money for a decent meal. But it's not worth the prices they're charging. How about a lunch special or a buy one get one half off? Maybe an arepa and a side salad? I love supporting local restaurants but in this case, I won't be returning. read more

Amazing food the arepa comes carne was great. They have a green sauce that comes with it! Best sauce I've ever had. I recommend it 100%.

This is the greatest place in the entire universe. Very nice people and delicious food!!!

Ordered a large order of take-out food for the first time and dissatisfied. The Mofongo with chicken and another with pork chunks were overly hard (seemed refried) dry with no sauce, the chicken breast with white rice and beans tasteless. Same with the churros, hard due to being overly refried. Was hoping Wesley Chapel would finally have good authentic Puerto Rican food but unfortunately this place was a disappointment. read more

The service was terrible. The food was horrible. It was an experience that I do not wish on anyone. My wife got sick from the old arepa they sold. Just to say a few of the things that happened to us. I will never go back to the place. The female owner didn't have an iota of what customer service supposed to be. She was nonchalant about everything. Like she didn't care about the customers. read more

What a local gem! The owners of Arepa Mia are down-to-earth, very customer focused, and have created a diverse menu of delicious dishes that made our visit quite memorable. We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. It was like we were visiting a friend's home and made to be part of their family. Being a new business, they are "working out the kinks" in order to improve and create even better customer experiences. I highly recommend giving them a try as they are open to feedback and wanting your dining experience to be wonderful! read more

The restaurant was quaint and clean. We were served right away. My spouse and I both had the soup which had a good flavor and was filling. We ordered several arepas to try as this was our first time here. We both liked the ham and cheese but the chicken and avocado was was both our favorite. Absolutely delicious... The owners were delightful and so welcoming. My husband and I ordered Tequenos, they were hot and fresh. We also ordered Arepa with shredded beef and cheese, the arepa was freshly made and the shredded beef was so tasty and an over abundance of cheese. I had empanadas that were just as great as my mom's. Truly a great place with Fresh, Hot food. Will continually go and take our Venezuelan and Puerto Rican family members they will enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you for opening in Lutz, this was truly needed in our area.
