Great atmosphere, music, and delicious authentic favors! Have the flan, you wont regret it!

What a lovely experience! Hubby and I decided to visit Mesa Latina on our 40th wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly when we arrived. We decided to sit at the bar and initially thought we were going to order to-go. So while we perused the menu, we ordered Pina Coladas and bacalaitos. The drinks were very tasty and pretty to boot. The bacalaitos were perfectly fried and not sopping wet with grease, which they tend to be at most places. I ordered the whole fried red snapper with tostones and Hubby ordered the Trifongo with Pulpo with a side of white rice and red beans. We also ordered the fried pork chops with rice and beans for my FIL, who lives with us and was at home with his home health aide. We told our server that we'd like all three dinners to go. Chef Albert came out of the kitchen and begged us to reconsider. We explained that we had to get back home, but he promised us that he would get our meals out in 10 minutes so we could enjoy it while it was hot and fresh. We decided to trust him. I heard him giving orders in the kitchen and Chef Albert was true to his word. Our meals came out in less than 15 minutes (also rare for Latin restaurants). My snapper was delicious!! Fried to perfection, nicely seasoned with sautéed onions (I personally like a lot of onions, so next time I'll ask for more). My tostones were very tasty too, with a side of mayoketchup. Hubby's Trifongo was to die for. So moist and tasty - and he didn't even have the cilantro sauce on it (had it on the side). The octopus was very tender and tasty. The rice and beans were very good as well. If only we had brought an avocado with us, it would have been perfection. Dad's pork chop was aromatic (Hubby and I don't eat meat, but it did smell good). It was a decent sized chop and Dad put a good dent into it. He said it was very flavorful. So not only was the food amazing, but the service was exceptional. Our server, Esmeralda, was friendly, knowledgeable, and smiled the entire time. She made several recommendations that were spot on. Chef Albert was a delight and the other servers behind the bar were also friendly. I can't wait to bring my mom, brother, and sister-in-law. Oh and did I mention that I'm Puerto Rican, so I know good Puerto Rican food when I'm eating it. I'm so glad that ZHills has a great PR restaurant. We used to go to Corozal, which also was good, but the service there was super slow. Mesa Latina is very efficient and while it's pricey, the food and service are worth it. I think it's a great addition to Zephyrhills area. Came here for a lunch with a friend and it's one of very few places in the area that is presentable, calm, and has a great service. Ambience is modern and relaxed, definitely something that was not present in Zephyrhills area a few years ago. I had a grilled chicken with rice lunch menu and it was great, my friend had coconut shrimp that was good as well. We had tres leches to finish which was very tasty as well. Happy that this place opened in Zephyrhills. read more

We have eaten at the food truck and now we are happy to come and sit down and eat their delicious Puerto Rican food. We have dined in a few times and the food and the service has always been great . Sadly I didn't get pics of all the food we had . But the sampler was delicious and the fried cod was yummy aka bacalitios. My husband had a skirt steak with French fries and he said it was very good . I had the big pork chop called the chuelta kan kan with rice and pea and it was amazing . Definitely will be back . The food for the price I say is very good . I'm happy they are in Zephyrhills. Keep up the good work . read more

I think the atmosphere is great. The staff is friendly. The food was delicious- I had the shrimp mofongo. It was way too expensive for what I received. I paid $38 with tip for lunch with water! It had 6 shrimps and they charged me $2 extra for sauce on the side. I just wanted to try the creamy garlic sauce to compare to the garlic one. I may go back but I won't order that again. read more

The service was VERY slow. The server wouldn't even bring salt and pepper to the table. Over an hour for a couple of burgers. Prices were astronomical. NO VALE LA PENA! We ordered grilled chicken with salad and rice, we got modest portions, the chicken was overcooked and dry. We had one flan; sodas. The bill was $ 100.00 which we thought it was a little too much, not only for the appearance and location of the restaurant but the quality and quantity of the food. The positive note was the waitress: we gave him an extra star for the service. They encourage reviews but they will choose what to publish. They asked me for one, I gave them one. read more

Delicious food and great service! Our waitress, Jessica, was so sweet and attentive and really made the experience even better. Okay, hear me out. Me and my mom came to eat here because she lives in the area. We are Dominican and from NY and have eaten amazing Hispanic food from all over. Let me start by saying it's hard to run a local business in this economy and the prices were high but we also understand that's what it takes to keep a business running. HOWEVER, Rice & Beans is our fav Puerto Rican food restaurant and it's not that far away and price for two people is comparable so we would rather eat there. The place is beautiful and newly renovated now that they own it and the menu has lots of options but the food was lacking flavor and overly greasy for us. We are also particular about food tasting like oil and both my dish and my mom's mofongo were heavy oil tasting. She did love her pina colada and the price is great for just $8. Also I love that you have options for the mofongo to be a mix of unripe and sweet because that's my fav way to have it because I like my mangu the same way. I also loved that the mofongo was not dry but for the $35 price point there was hardly any meat like barely any and we can get an entire steak big enough for leftovers for that price at other establishments. My tostones were oily and dry and I love it when they are boiled first and then fried but that's just a personal preference and how I make them so they don't dry out and my chicharrones could be seasoned more. They tasted salted on the outside but I would appreciate a longer marinade and some fresh onion and garlic flavors to come through. We been meaning to try this place and now we did. Please go and check it out, we love our people and the staff is amazing, our server was so attentive but it wasn't enough to want to try anything else because the cooking oil just came through too many dishes and it's not for us. Food was OK. The mofongo is a NO! They add chip plantains to the mofongo (platanutres) no pork (chicharron) and they call it vegetarian mofongo. The alcapurrias are good but small and expensive. Service is good as well as the ambiance. read more

Pretty much everything we had was unacceptable. I had a hamburger that was very greasy. Wife had an empanada that had powdered sugar on it as did the one our guest had. The diet coke my wife had, tasted like it had rum in it; she doesn't drink alcohol. Just not a good experience for us. read more
