I dropped by here because I wanted a little snack. I ordered a couple items from the bakery. Somethings were good. Some things were OK. I got the croquet as well, which are very good. I got a Quito and a guava pastry. They were OK a little bit on the dry side. The service was not great. The people that were taking my order didn't care to explain some things, didn't seem like they want to answer my questions. They seem short that day. I ended up ordering online. Which works out great because I also have pictures. It is a casual place with several tables that you can bring a bunch of people to sit down and have some hickory items. Stopped here recently while passing through. I had seen several yelp reviews and wanted to check it out for myself. I ordered a coffee and a few empanadas. The coffee was fantastic but the empanadas were just ok. The restaurant was bigger than I expected and had several patrons in line and seated and eating. I got there kinda late for breakfast but not quite lunch time. They were setting up the lunch area and I saw several dishes that looked and smelled appealing . Went on Mother's Day. It was packed and lively. I love that they serve plates of food while also having sandwiches and bakery goodies. I also love that they have flancocho it was so good and moist! El relleno no servía, buena apariencia, pero su sabor muy por debajo de la calidad. La papa sabía a papa de caja y su carne no tenía gusto como debiera saber. Segundo la tripleta, nunca me había comido una triple que oliera avinagrada o le pusieron vinagre o la carne era vieja y por eso olía de esa manera. Tenía un enbarre de mayukechu que se miraba poco apetitoso y desagradable. Pero lo más que me molestó fue su olor desagradable que tenía . Lo único que nosotros podíamos comer fueron las alcapurrias, esas tenían un buen sabor. Si me preguntan si lo recomiendo? No creo, tienen que mejorar en su servicio al consumidor y en su comida. 1. I really love the vibes inside and outside of this bakery. The inside gives rustic modern Latin vibes. There is plenty of seating but it seems very busy behind the counter and although it seemed as if the staff spoke little English I had no problems ordering my food. 2. The staff was very nice and the lady that plated my food was very nice and friendly, the young man behind the register was very helpful and even suggested the freshly made drinks. 3. The food was good also. I highly recommend the freshly made mango drink and the flan chocolate cake. The flan cake was moist and had a delightful sweetness. The macaroni salad was delicious as well, the white rice was very good and a bit salty for me. The pork was moist and delicious and so was the yellow rice and beans but for me it was a bit on the salty side, although If i would have gotten the macaroni salad I think it would have balanced the food out a lot better(the plate with the white rice balanced nice with the macaroni salad). I am obsessed! I love love love this Puerto Rican Bakery! Everything about it is so charming and lovely. First and most important, the food is absolutely fantastic. I tried the la tripleta de manny (3 meat sandwich on in house baked bread with chicken, pork and beef) as well as the classic flan. Both were truly outstanding and exceeded my expectations. For $8, this sandwich could easy feed 2 people. Next the atmosphere is very enjoyable. It's bright and clean and welcoming. There is even a cute casual sitting area over by the front. Finally, the staff is uniquely friendly and helpful. I was just coming from an doctor appointment and had my eyes dilated and so couldn't read the menu! We finally tried La Bahia! We have been wanting to for so long! As soon as we opened the door to enter, we were hit with the most amazing savory smells of meat cooking. The restaurant has a cute vibe with subway tiles and rustic barn doors. There is a sandwich and hot food section with Puerco Asado(Baked Pork) and Ropa Vieja and Pollo Asado(Baked Chicken ), Grilled Chicken, yucca, yellow rice, black beans and other customary sides. While the delicious smells made us want to eat the hot food, we were there for the sweets! We ended up selecting a guava and cheese pastry and also a freshly made cheese danish in a tube shape. Both were amazing!! We didn't realize we got 2 with cheese until we sat down but we love all the cheese so we were fine with that! We really want to come back for the hot food...so we will definitely be back! If I had just one suggestion, it would be to turn up the customer service a little bit. No one really greets you when you come in and I had to ask hard for help...I had questions about all the delicious looking food. I ordered 2 items by delivery today. The Cubano a la Boricua and the Vanilla Flan. Cuban- This probably has some of the highest meat content in a Cuban sandwich. The pork is very soft. The ham was ok. There was melted cheese. The meat was so dominant that I felt the amount of pickles/cheese/mustard was underpowered. The bread is PR bread which looks superficially similar to Cuban. It is softer and not as "crusty". Basically each bite doesn't result in a sandstorm of crumbs. Solid, but not top tier. 3/5 Vanilla Flan- I'm not an expert on this but it tasted like a sweet custard.It was good but I'm sure on par with many custards I've had at other places 3/5 There are some other items that look good like alcapurrias and guava pastries. I live relatively close by (3.5 miles) but the delivery took 1 hour. I ate the two items faster than Lady G eats chorizo. Lo siento no pictures. read more

Why 5 stars? Because this was one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had. --- --- --- I've head La Bahia bookmarked for a while and finally found the opportunity to swing by. I was grateful I walked in when I did, because about two minutes later, the line went from one person to 20 on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently they have already built up quite the following! I anguished over what to order because literally everything on the menu looked great. I eventually opted for the Cuban sandwich and was incredibly happy with my decision. I've eaten a lot of Cuban sandwiches in Tampa Bay. It's honestly very hard to officially declare a favorite. But I definitely can't think of one that was *obviously* more enjoyable than this one. It consisted of mojo pork and sliced ham, both of which were perfect. There also seemed to be more cheese on this sandwich than your typical Cuban, and it was incredibly melted - two things I will never be upset about: cheese and melted cheese. I also opted for mayo instead of mustard, because, obviously no one would ever eat mustard on purpose. I attempted to order a side of mofongo, but I was told that they didn't have any. That ended up being totally okay because I ordered yellow rice and black beans instead, which was also amazing. The only thing I wish I would have done differently was choose a different dessert. Everything was on full display inside the glass case of happiness and it all looked like something I wanted to swim in. I made a quick decision to go with a quesito, as recommended by the cashier. We don't live in this area and came here to look at Carmax. We were starving and checked this place out. They were so helpful since we weren't as familiar with the bakery part and they mostly spoke Spanish. All the food we got was yummy! We had pork with the flavored rice and fried plantains, chicken empanadas and a sandwich that had 3 meats and the yummiest sauce. We also had a strawberry turnover and flan. Recently stopped in to the bakery after a doctors appointment locally. Please go in and enjoy some of the most delightful pastries, breads ,empanada and croquettes. We sampled the guava pastry full of fruit .pastry light airy dabbed with powdered sugar. The cream Pastries are light airy almost a puff pastry type though with a very smooth sweet vanilla cream filling dusted with powdered sugar. The empanadas are beyond delicious and my son only ate four of them along with all four of the croquettes. The breads are sweet ,dense and best toasted. The cooked foods specials for the day are usually on the blackboard posted at the beginning of the counters. I've gone into this establishment twice and both times I have stood their for 5-7 minutes and was never acknowledged by a worker. Multiple workers have came in and out the back, one even looked right at me and still didn't ask if I needed help. I tried to give this business a second chance but both times have been awful experiences. I hope it's not a colorism issue.
