We've used Ardmor Electric on several jobs the past couple years, most recently to repair a wall-mounted exterior lantern above our garage door that had been torn loose by some careless contractors while moving their scaffolding. We called Frank (the owner of Ardmor), scheduled an appointment, and he was able to repair it on his first visit, in less than half an hour, securing it back to its mount and restoring the caulk seal. As usual, we were very satisfied with the quality of the work. While that job involved a small repair for our home, we've also relied on Ardmor for a much larger project contracted by our HOA a couple years ago. That job involved: 1) the replacement of hardwired smoke detectors in a couple separate fire-escape stairwell structures; 2) the removal and replacement of four large post lanterns; and 3) the removal and replacement of eight hard-wired bollard-type pathway light fixtures (both the posts and the lighted tops). Other electricians who bid on this same project pressured us to purchase high-cost fixtures through them, but not Ardmor. Frank not only provided us a written quote for the work we requested (and no upselling), but he also took the time to advise us on what replacement fixture types would allow for an easy, cost-effective update of our HOA's exterior lighting (we didn't want to have to alter the existing mounts or wiring as all were in excellent condition). Our HOA then used that information to select and order fixture replacements online that most closely matched the worn ones we were replacing. Unfortunately, we found that most of these fixtures were not in stock at the time, which meant waiting on factory shipments. But, even though the resulting delay took months and exceeded the standard time period for a typical electrician's quote to remain valid, Frank never once mentioned it. When the fixtures were finally delivered we scheduled an installation date with Ardmor and the job was completed in half a day. All the new fixtures were installed without incident, secured to their mounts and shiny clean of all dirt and fingerprints. The old fixtures and wire scraps were cleaned up and taken away. An all-around excellent job.
As for their rates, we've found Ardmor to be consistently competitive and fair. Because of the high quality of their work they are often in high demand and scheduling has never in our experience been a next-day arrangement, but they've always kept every appointment time as scheduled and they've always showed up with all the proper tools and supplies necessary for the task at hand.
We've never had cause to request emergency service from Ardmor so I have no experience to reference in that regard.
Overall I highly recommend Ardmor Electric as a customer who has hired them as a homeowner on some projects, and as a HOA board member on other projects. read more
