ARCO - Gas Stations Near Me - San Mateo, California

High gas prices, no bathroom even though it says it clearly when you look them up which is deceiving.

The cashier refused to give me air when I purchased a candy, when I showed him the receipt, he then threatened to call the police on me. I explained that it is California Law that if you buy something they are required to give air. This is not acceptable do not spend here I was discriminated against. He called the police on me and made up some outlandish lie that I was acting in appropriate. I am already dealing with the trauma of Sonya Massey being killed by the police and he tried to make me uncomfortable which was not acceptable. I was discriminated against from such a prejudice person. I have seen him be discriminate towards other individuals and this has to stop. I am a business owner. I'm a humanitarian he called the police on me for no reason and this is not acceptable read more

ARCO - Man was very prejudice and discriminate people of color - Gas Stations Near Me - San Mateo, California

I put gas at this location and asked for the attendant to turn the air on. He told me to put my credit card in to pay for the air. I showed him the attached picture letting him know, by law, in the state of California, he's required to turn the air on for me at which point he stated "you're not being nice to me so I have the right to refuse service." This is wild to me because the air is free and I have never come across such a childish interaction from a grown man. All i asked was to turn the air on but he didn't like that I took a picture of the sign. The number on the sign goes nowhere and the manager number he provided is disconnected. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. I highly suggest staying away from this subpar gas station. read more

ARCO - Gas Stations Near Me - San Mateo, California

The HIGHEST gas prices I have paid in years. I won't be returning even though it's convenient. Wish I had read the reviews before I went.

The male behind plexiglass window was not helpful. Asked he break a $20 bill for 2 $10.00 bills, he said it's Sunday, sorry... Last time I'll be coming here... should've seen the review prior before I came here. read more

Terrible terrible service here. Wouldn't even turn on air until we got gas. Very rude, also poorly maintajned. Lots of oil/gas spills everywhere. read more

Let's begin with how creepy this station feels at night period. Maybe its because all Arco's I have been at are usually popping at nightime this one feels so strange. Drivers are constantly peeping each other coming and going due to the strange ambiance, especially single female drivers. Surprisingly the guy inside is nice to me.. I used to live close but even through I could afford it, I could never, ever remember to come or refer this Arco that is so damned expensive, even the snacks cost $5.00 per... lick. If you are tired from a long drive and want good price gas, a friendly howdy, and reasonable priced snacks....drive or push your car some where else!! This Arco pretty much falls out of suit from the other Arco stations. Something tells me that one day this Arco will be in the media buzz! read more

Would not recommend put the same amount of petrol in another gas station in san mateo and got 60 miles of a difference Convinced mostly air coming out of pump rather than petrol read more

I need to get a hold of whoever is in charge of this gas station first of all the dude behind the register was very rude to an elderly lady today this happened around 3 p.m. now I'm going to start by saying you don't be rude to anybody that's older than you I don't know about you but my mom taught me how to have manners second of all this lady has Alzheimer's and Dementia that's not to say that that's an excuse on why she should be talked to nicely or polite the how dare you as a man disrespect someone who could be your grandma with this thing being said if anybody knows how I can get ahold of upper management please let me know I'm putting this up on public because I need help because I think this needs to be taken a little bit more further and they should be hiring people that know how to have respect to anyone that comes in especially when we're paying read more

Skip it. No restroom. Guy at the counter is a waste of air. If you're on Empty. Just go empty and walk to a friendlier gas station where it possibly costs more. read more

Absolutely the worst gas station I have ever been to in my life. The attendant is the rudest person I have ever experienced at a gas station. Avoid this station! You can contact Arco customer service at the following link: https://www.arco.com/en-us/southwest/contact read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The owner is a very ignorant, rude, and argumentative man. He was aggressive with me and told me I could get out of his store, when I did absolutely nothing wrong. I was gonna buy a soda for 89 cents but I didn't even feel like he deserved a dollar. Instead I got a soda elsewhere and they were extremely polite and kind to me. Good customer service is EVERYTHING, and this store lacked it so badly. Will not ever go here again, not even for an 89 cent soda. read more

No credit cards taken, no bathrooms, rude front desk guy, I didn't even end up filling up my tank, I just bounced. Go f*ck yourself Arco.......................... read more

I locked my keys in my car at 9pm and the gas station attendant made no attempt to assist me. He was a real jerk. I had to ask to use the station phone to call for help. He would have been content to do absolutely nothing. read more

Their sign says they're open 9-4 on Saturdays for a smog check. I went at 3:15 and the clerk for the gas pumps said no one was there to perform the test, that no one was there all day. This is the second time I've gone during their operating hours, but all the garage doors were closed. How does one run a business if they're not open when they tell their customers they're open? read more

Never go here for a smog check. I went and they never sent it to the dmv. So I ended up having to pay for a smog check twice. When I confronted the guy who did my original smog test and asked him to redo it, he said that it would be $50. Mind you I paid close to $80 for the 1st test and that was already kind of a rip off. read more

Are you kidding me this place is unbelievable. They charge so much more than other gas stations I don't know why anybody would stop here except for an emergency like myself. I put $24 and got 5.1 gallon. I don't know what I was thinking. I probably could've made it on fumes to more reasonable gas station. Plus these greedy hungry think they're going to make a bunch of money because of the area there in jerks charge $.35 to use my debit card. read more

They charge you .35 for using an atm/cash station to pay for gas?!? What kinda cheap ass Arco station is that? The price of the gas wasn't cheap either. Just drove down the road to a Chevron, Shell or 76! read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I visited this gas station for a routine fill up. The pump ate my $20 and the staff refused to help. They told me "you're out of luck". No effort whatsoever to reconcile the problem or even apologize for the inconvenience. I would never buy gas here again let alone trust them to do repairs on my car. Bad business. read more

Totally RIP OFF!!! When there is no option to pay with credit card for fuel, the price should be cheaper. But their fuel (gas) price is above the price at everywhere else. What was worse, the last 2 gallons was just air! There was no fuel coming out from the hose and basically you just waited until the meter/$ amount shows the number that you have paid for then it stop! This place is the WORST gas station ever!!! read more

Pulled up in a camper van to get some gas and throw away some trash. Attendant came out, assumed we were homeless, and told me that I wasn't allowed to even though I was about to fill up the tank. No thanks. read more

No public restroom. Cashier claimed that their land line calls only other Arcos. Awful customer service.

The guy that works at the counter is a jerk. I wasn't surprised when I saw the other reviews about him. I used to live near by and would always stop by to use the air compressor for cars, bikes, etc for free. I happened to be nearby with my car limping on a flat tire. Just wanted to fill my tire to make it home. They guy at the counter said he couldn't press the air compressor button (sure!) and that I had to get a $1.50 to be able to use the air. Total jerk and a liar. Never stop at this gas station for anything. What a horrible experience. read more

Worst of the worst - refused to let my 2 year old daughter use the bathroom - jerk!!!

No public restroom. Does not accept credit cards. Snack selection mediocre. Stuffy atmosphere.

This Arco is the BEST PLACE EVER TO GET YOUR CAR SMOGGED!!! I drove right up. The technician was polite and courteous. He got to work right away and passed my car in 15 min. I was in & out in 15 minutes. I couldn't believe how quick it was. I live in Half Moon Bay. It was totally worth the drive and it was also almost $20 dollars less then quoted in Half Moon Bay. We will be going to Arco from now on for all our vehicles. read more
