Used to be my go-to gas station, but they took advantage of me the last time I went. I decided to do their car wash deal where if you purchase a car wash and gas, you save on gas. The gas attendant tries to give me back the incorrect change and I tell him and he pretends like he "gave me extra gas." Then when I go to get my car wash, it completely messes up one of my front rims and now it's black and scraped. I really wish this wasn't the case, but they definitely scam and take advantage of people, especially younger women. read more

Came by the other day for a fill up and it was a quick and easy experience. There are numerous petrol pumps at this location, over a dozen, making ingress and egress a breeze. The fuel pumps take payment at the island, including NFC payments. Pricing is very competitive for top tier petrol in the area. Fuel pumps were in good working order and paper towels were plentiful! There is also a car wash that closes at 6 pm daily read more

Arco Indian gas attendant should lose his job. He's rude and does not know how to do it. Your facility should not offer car washes, if your car wash is not open after 6 pm. The little sticker in the smallest font possible does not indicate the customer is "stupid or dumb" as your employee stated for me purchasing a car washes at 5:57 pm. After I went in to ask for a refund, your Indian attendant was rude and said i was stupid for purchasing before reading your note. I don't live in the area and was passing through, so your 14-day policy does NOT resolve any issue. With high gas prices. stating "no refunds" and come back within 14-days is NOT acceptable. Your attendant should NOT be able to pick and choose when to refund, either you allow this behavior or your attendant DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE REGISTER!!! Train some common courtesy, commons use register skills, just train!!!! read more

Too many panhandling going on. They even have kids with scripts and pictures asking for money and management doesn't stop this

Worst gas station ever with arrogant cashiers. The pump levers don't work, so you have to hold the gas pump the entire time you're filling your tank. I brought this to the attention of the two cashiers & they blamed my car saying "new cars have no issue with this". Great, take no responsibility for your bad equipment, while insulting the customer at the same time. I know it's tough to sit on your duff & collect money for gas, but being courteous & respectful doesn't take a whole lot of effort either. Bottom line is, they couldn't care less! Do yourself a favor & gas up elsewhere. That should send the right message. Jose BTW, this is one of arrogant cashiers read more

Gas stations need reviews too This station has plenty of pumps and is usually the best price in town it does get pretty busy and it is right next to a on ramp and off Ramp for the highway so that could be a plus or negative depending on your situation Sometimes people are Pretty rude here and cut you off from driving up to the pump or leaving. So be mindful Of your surroundings and watch out for cars and people they seem to not pay attention to where they are going Once you do get to the pump you can pay at the pump or at the cash booth which always has at least 2-3 people in line at all times. They have a few snacks or drinks if you want to pick up something to snack on or drink not a big selection but there are a few They accept cash ATM and Credit cards. They cashiers are fast and helpful so I don't mind coming here for my gas read more

Lets speak specifically about Pernedu today. At 2:50pm I pulled up to get gas, swap $90 in lottery tickets, and obtain a carwash. 1st the pump did not ask if I wanted to add on a carwash (really in 2021)? So while my gas pumped I went to the Cashier w/ lottery by the car wash. I walked in and Pernedu slowly meandered out to the center island cashier leaving me in there by myself for easily 4 minutes. I went back to the center cashier to discover they did not have lottery tickets. After pumping gas I pulled up the the cashier w/ lottery and Pernedu was back from his excursion. I handed him two tickets with winnings of $90 to which he rudely exclaimed "What's This!!!" I told him i wanted to swap them for three $30 tickets to which they were out. They were also out of $20 tickets; so as he slowly service me and held the $90 payout I kindly asked for five $10 tickets instead. He handed me a $10 Monopoly, and 4 other Poker tickets, I also asked for a $10 carwash to which he grunted "there" toward the middle island cashier. I left and due to the line at the middle island chose to hop in the carwash line. Patrick was waiting for me but all I had was twenty dollar bills. So Patrick went and got me a $10 wash. Because of his service I thanked Patrick and told him of the horrible service I was given inside. While in the car wash I started to scratch the poker tickets only to discover I had been give four $5 High Card Poker tickets and one $10 Monopoly. Meaning I was effectively shorted $20 in the whole transaction with Pernudu. After exiting the car wash I parked, and confronted Pernudu to which he said rudely "let me see" and I exclaimed "let me go grab the manager". At this instantly said "I made a mistake" and asked for the four $5 tickets and said "so I owe you four more of these - the $5 were in the $10 slot!" As he pulled them I watched and he pulled them from the same spot he did moments before! I included a picture of the tickets I received below so you can confirm via your security cameras. Managers of ARCO - Kindly check your video feed from 2:50pm - 3:00pm on 12 July 2021. This review would not be getting posted if it were not for the 1) lack of sense of urgency, 2) a cashier leaving a customer unattended as he walked into the store 3) the issue with the lottery exchange, and 4) the rudeness when confronted about solving the issue. I go to your ARCO because of the carwash colocated with sensibly priced gas. There are many mom & pop gas stations closer to me. Pernudu's customer service does your entire station a disservice!!! read more

I come to this gas station because it is the cheapest one around the area and the closest one for me. However, the staff are not so great. In addition to that, it seems like they don't know how to give the correct amount of change back. It has happened to me more than once. One time, they were missing like $10 from the refund. So next time if you are paying with cash, always ask for a receipt and check the amount of money they give you back. read more

very worst customer service at desk with payment. Not polite very rude attitude towards customer and insulted me intentionally.

It's definitely a deal when it comes to cheap gas prices. Unfortunately, I just left the pump, and minutes later, my bank contacted me concerning fraudulent activity. My card was skimmed. I had a feeling there was trouble when the tap option declined. But I've been here several times and never had a problem. I think I may have to start using cash when buying gas because this is the second time my card was skimmed by a gas pump. read more

Went here in the evening, and thought I'd clean my car with the vacuum machines, even though the last time I came here with my family I almost got robbed, but being a semi-pro mma fighter I scared the crap out of the would-be robber and he jumped into his car and speed off. Anyway that was then and this is now, so I'm looking for change in my car so I can vaccum it. And out comes the cashier he walks to me and says, "just make sure your not dumping your garbage here" I said to him I'm just looking for change for the machine. Then I realized I didn't have change so I went to the cashier booth to break a couple dollars and then proceeded to vacuum my car. The following week I go back with the same medical device delivery vehicle, in which I own about 6 of them for my business. As I finish pumping my gas I get into my car and I see the same racist cashier walking toward me, so I drive off quickly, then I look in my rear view mirror and see him standing there disgruntled as he looks as he was going to come over and make a problem with me. At this point I'm just surprised he recognized my car from the car wash incident. Three times a charm, the last time I went there I'm pumping my gas at the pump furthest from the cashier booth., and to my surprise I see him walking toward me again, now he walks up to me and looks at my car, sees I'm pumping gas, and now he's SPEECHLESS, he is out of words and is standing looking at me and doesn't know what to say. So I get back into my car and drive-off. This gas station attendant is CRAZY. I'm just taking my business elsewhere not worth being harassed by this guy. Also this station is dirty and dangerous for woman at night. STAY AWAY the gas station on third avenue avenue is cheaper and has a convenient store. read more

The gas here is definitely cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. I've seen, consistently, over the course of about 20 fill-ups, that for some reason, the gas mileage I get when I fill up here is 10-15% lower than at other stations. Unfortunately this more than negates the price advantage. I've heard some people say that all gas comes from the same terminal and is identical. I've heard some say that some station owners maybe mix water with the gasoline. Whatever it is, I don't find the gas I get from this place to be a good value. read more

Great gas prices. Quality gasoline. Lots of pumps. Easy to locate. Convenience store on site. lottery on site. Air and water on site. They usually have more than one register running to make payment and change quickly. Clean as any gas station could hope to be. Brightly lit at night. Everything above adds up to make your fueling stop a pleasant one. Just remember the prices come at the cost of a business that prefers CASH FIRST. If you are paying with a credit card at this location they you are relegating yourself to a bad deal. So stop whining and get your gas from another place. read more

always friendly and reasonable prices! It is very recommended for those who are looking for fuel at low prices.

I used to love this station back when I lived in SM. Cheapest gas locally, a ton of pumps and fast moving traffic since they had the cash machines. Now I don't know what the hell happened, but they do not allow you to pay cash at the pumps, but you have to get in line at the central cashier (dodging 4 lines of waiting cars and road rage) which is often several people deep with one cashier. Would you want to get back in this line if you needed change? Hell no. I still actually come here but it's often not worth the time. Pros: Still probably one of the cheapest gas stations near me aside from a couple of really trashy places in RWC. Right by the highway near the 92 / 101 interchange, so plenty of excuses to be in the local area. I usually stop by after a trip to the dog park at Seal Point. Car wash on the same lot, and it does a decent job for cheap. People running it have always been nice and polite, as long as I can remember. Cons: Again - It's right by the highway literally between an off ramp and an on ramp for the 92. That said, prepare for cars flying down and a 2 lane swerve if you want to get back on the 92. Lines out the wazoo. Regularly, cars are waiting all the way out to the entrance on both sides, and this is an entire street corner of a lot. Think Costco gas on a bad day -- it's this bad at weird hours on weekdays so you can imagine what weekends must look like. Having those hoses that allegedly go across your car doesn't really help -- if they worked so well, people wouldn't be avoiding those lanes with the pump on the right, lol. read more

I have gone to this gas station for many years and they recently changed to debit is the same as using a credit card. When this originally started I went into talk to the assistant inside and he was VERY rude. I still go here because the price is still one of the cheapest but I rather use my debit card and pay the $.35 fee which is reasonable as debit should be considered same as cash like every other store we visit, and the dont charge a $.35 service fee. So now I use my credit card so they have to pay the credit card service fees. Hahaha read more

Sometimes the difficulty with Yelp is figuring out what a 5-star even really means. Especially when it comes to things like gas stations, car washes, recycling centers, and those mundane but critical parts of everyday life that don't rise to the level of a Michelin-starred meal, a 95+ bottle of Napa Valley wine, an epic hike in the redwoods, or a stunning Pacific Ocean vista. This ARCO gets 5-stars for me, for a variety of reasons. It is open 24-7, so you can fuel up at 5am before departing for a big trip if needed. The cash price (bring 10s and 20s) is the lowest in the mid-Peninsula, by a healthy margin compared to the major competitors like Exxon, Shell, or Chevron: often 30-50 cents per gallon less than spots in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Woodside, or Redwood City. Gas in Silicon Valley doesn't need to be overpriced - although it often is. Fortunately, there is an ARCO for that - this one! There also are propane tanks for exchange, and I have never seen them out of stock. If you have a gas grill and use it regularly, this is a helpful thing as well, and exchanges are under $25. The pay station is clean, open, and staffed by 2 people most of the time, and there are 21 fueling stations with hoses long enough to reach your tank - regardless of which side the tank is on. Given the popularity of this location, having this option makes it easier to zero on on an empty spot. From CA-92, the Delaware Street exit is the easiest way to access the pumps. Less then 1/4 mile away is a Trader Joe's, and 1/2 mile away is a self serve car wash, as well as a post office. All in all: not a bad spot for taking care of the little things in life that, collectively speaking, can often make a huge difference! Note: you really should bring cash to get the best deal here. Go to the pay station, give them your cash (they can make change) and tell them your pump number. If you fill you tank and still have cash left, return and ask for your change. Imagine that! Cash. For gas. Who knew? read more

ARCO - Fill up stations, facing north, CA-92 in background, Delaware Ave to the right. - Gas Stations Near Me - San Mateo, California

I dislike ARCO gas stations with a passion. The last one I was at made me watch ads while I pumped gas. This one doesn't have that but if you want to skip the line and just pump your gas then you need to use a debit card. THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS AT THE PUMP. So good luck if you don't have your card on you. Then, god forbid you need a receipt because after all that the machine MAKES YOU SEE THE CLERK and wait in line regardless. I didn't even see that they accept credit cards at all for that matter while I waited. If that wasn't insanity enough for you then you'll love the $0.35 fee they charge FOR USING A DEBIT CARD. Skip the bull and fill up at Exxon. It's easier to pull out of anyway if you're going to continue in the same direction you were headed. This is the LAST ARCO I WILL EVER WASTE MY TIME OR SPEND MY MONEY AT. read more

Their car wash is decent. Open from 6am-8pm and there is a choice for 6 dollars, 7 dollars, and 8. The 8 dollar one is not worth it as it does not differ from the 7 dollar one. This is the best priced gas I've found on the Peninsula. For 15+ years I avoided going here because there is always, ALWAYS a wait for a pump. However, I didn't realize how fast the line goes. Now that I'm entrenched in the cheap gas at ARCO because they closed my fav gas place, Valero, on 4th Avenue, it's working for me. I almost always use the car wash unless it's too late at night. I've made the mistake of using same when the attendant isn't working -- DON'T -- very difficult to use and get car going correctly when no one is on duty. read more

My review will only echo what lots of reviewers have already said: - constantly busy - great gas prices (even cheaper than Costco, the last time I checked!) - there's a car wash! - there's also air and some other stuff.... I thought Arco was always cash only but apparently you can pay credit card but there's a small fee? You pay at the register first then go to pump gas. There's a $6, $7, and $8 car wash, all very reasonable prices. I got the $7 one; I couldn't remember what all the differences are but there's lots of signs to tell you. I'd say it did a pretty good job, except the dryer didn't get all the water droplets off. But yay! My car is clean! That was my first time using a car wash too! Note: the car wash closes at 8PM!
