ARCO - Gas Stations Near Me - Los Altos, California

This gas station has been rebranded as "Grand" for the last many months, and it is any but grand. Stopped today to top off a rental car before returning it. Couldn 't use the the card reader at the pumped - out of service. Went it and discovered I couldn't pay by either cash or credit card. Leaving what? Payment by gummy bears? The interior shop shelves were largely bare and the clerk was pissed off and pissy. Hopefully all this is a sign that the business will soon turn over to new owners. In the meantime - find another place to buy your gasoline! It's expensive enough without the grumpy attitude and extreme hassle here. read more

Don't go here! Gas prices are WAY too expensive! Go to the Arco at 699 N San Antonio road instead. I drove here for gas today, only to find that prices are $4.199 per gallon on up. So, I drove a mile down the road to the other Arco and filled up at $3.579 per gallon. I suggest you do the same. read more

Cheap gas, cold Slushies, eclectic staff (except for the b*tchy blond - story below), and a great location. I've always loved stopping here except for this one time two weeks ago. I pulled in to fill up my lovely car, put the nozzle into the tank opening and started to pump. The gas pressure was so hard that the nozzle flew out of the opening of the gas tank and started spraying everywhere. Gas covered me, my dress, my hair, my shoes, inside of my car (the top was down), all over the outside of my car and spewed all over the ground. I picked up the nozzle and managed to get it back into the tank opening only to have it kick out again. Third try and I had to forcefully nurse the gas into the car. I was on my way to an event so I had no time to go home and shower. I moved my car to a parking space and got out to report the incident to the staff only be greeted by this b*tch asking if I was the one who sprayed gas all over the ground. I told her what happened and she started yelling at me saying it was my fault. I calmly explained that in my entire life I had never been assaulted before by a gas pump and that their gas pressure was clearly too high. It was not a pleasant exchange and, soaked with gas, late for my event and throughly upset, I left. I've been back since for Slushies, but will never buy gas here again. If you decide to take your chances with these vicious pumps, make sure you have time for a shower afterwards just in case. read more

Most expensive gas around. For many years they had the best prices. Now they are by far the most expensive.

I have absolutely no idea how in earth this place stays in business because the prices are consistently 30% higher than anywhere else and after all we are dealing with a substance which is the same no matter where you go. I suppose I might stop here if my car ran out of gas directly in front of them and even then I would consider walking somewhere else. read more

Employee is SERIOUSLY sitting 10 feet from the gas pump (mind you, we are pumping gas) SMOKING A CIGARETTE. I don't give a damn if you smoke, but it's extremely discomforting for someone to have a lit substance so dangerously close to highly flammable fluids! Easy in-and-out, cheapest place in town, $0.35 instead of $0.45 ATM card fee now. Piece of cake.

Pulled up to a pump where the keypad wasn't working. There's no sign on it, it just wouldn't work. Went into the store to be told that that pump had never worked correctly. Asked my husband to pull the car around, and the pump he pulled up to had a sign on it that only the most expensive grade was available at that pump. I got 2 gallons and asked for the receipt, and the machine told me I had to go inside to get the receipt. Very inconvenient; they really need to fix their pumps. On top of it all, gas was about $.75 a gallon higher than everywhere else. read more

This is worst Arco. The casher immediately had to shut down the gas pump #1, when gas started over flowing and splashed all over me. Good think I don't smoke. This is my second same experience I've had at this place. Last time, I've lost over 7 gallon from their defected pump and was asked to leave my phone number for manager to call me for refund or credit. I've never heard back from the manager. Then I've had same problem over the weekend, again, I've lost over 5 gallon, it was $5.00 per gallon. The cashier again asked me to leave my contact info, until now, nobody has contacted me for refund or credit. Looks like they don't fix or maintain gas station operation up-to-date. Very dangerous. This gas stations has lack of Federal regulatory requirements and good management practices. This store should be audited from Regulations that is related to aboveground and underground storage tanks which are designed to help prevent spills and include Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and spill reporting requirements read more

Cheap gas - check. Good service? No complaints from me. I got a Arco giftcard (weird gift, I know) for Christmas and when it wouldn't work at the pump the gentleman inside was very friendly and pleasant and got it to work quickly. In and out in no time at all! read more

I was just in this location. Their cash machines were broken so I had to go in. There was a little old lady looking for money so I asked her if I could go ahead of her because my 2 year old was back in the car She said ok, but when I approached the clerk, he made me wait for the little old lady who was slow as a snail and needed change and something else. I just ended up storming out and getting gas elsewhere. Wtf? read more

Couldn't actually buy any gas, which essential for a gas station. Payment machine wants PIN number for credit card (in addition to $0.35 service fee) rather than the usual zip code requirement. I do not know my credit card pin number as I never use it as a cash card. Fortunately I had cash - pristine 20's that I'd just gotten from the bank. Machine would not accept them. I left and went to 76 down the street, where they are sensible and make it easy to buy gas. read more

Poor service, extraordinarily rude staff. Worth the extra pennies to buy gas elsewhere. They only take debit cards and the machines on the pumps rarely work - when I mentioned this to the staff member, I got dressed down and told "is what it is." A simple "Sorry, I'll take care of that for you" would have saved my business. read more

This place usually has the cheapest gas in town; the only downside being you can't pay with a credit card but who needs more debt these days hmm?? Anyway, the real reason for the 5 stars is the killer selection of discount beer this place has!! HALF OFF on lots of 'discontinued merch. like sixers of Heineken Light at $4 and a damaged 12-pack of Corona Light for $6!!! Arco usually has the cheapest gas you can find. I liked this shop for the fact i asked directions and they were helpful.

Cheap gas and good selection of beer for a gas station. Be careful coming here at night especially alone. Pulled up to grab some gas late at night and there were no employees in sight. Once I got out of my car I noticed the entire parking lot smelled like marijuana. As I started to walk inside to pay a female employee comes running around the corner reeking of weed and stoned out of her mind. She could barely function and gave me the wrong total a few times while stumbling through the transaction. As soon as I walked back to my car she ran back outside and around the corner to resume smoking weed with two shady guys who were not employees. They all proceeded to stare at me the entire time I was pumping gas until I left. Management should keep a closer eye on who they hire. read more

Just because the gas pumps are on does NOT mean you'll be getting gas - it also doesn't mean that the attendant is actually doing their job!! I showed up at about 6:15 on a Saturday morning, this is usually the only gas station that is open at that time on my way home from work, so I stopped here. ALL THE LIGHTS INSIDE WERE ON AND THE PUMPS WERE LIT UP!! So I put 10$ into the machine that accepts cash, and went to the pump, which let me select the gas I wanted - but no gas came out. AT ALL. I tried all 3 flavors of gas. Nadda. I went to the door and it was locked, but all the lights were on so I knocked, then pounded on the front door. Nothing. I even CALLED them from my cell phone - no one answered. So basically AM/PM just stole my cash. I will NEVER come back. Thanks for stealing my money AM/PM. :( read more
