Stopped at this station to get some better gasoline in my truck. The cheapo Exxon gas wasn't worth saving a few bucks. So at 790 El Camino Real, we find a modern Shell station, complete with foodmart and car wash. Based upon the past reviews, it looks like everyone should avoid the car wash. Nice spacious islands and well lit. Very spacious because no one was there at the time. Prices are a bit higher than average. But the station is near two major roads out of town.....Hwy 85 and Hwy 237. There's also a medical facility across the street. Tip: if you want your vehicle to look nice for a long time, never use a mechanical car wash. read more

My girlfriend was driving me back to SJ and we needed gas. We had just had dinner nearby, so stopped by this Shell on the way to the freeway on Friday, June 7th around 9:45pm. Prices per gallon that day were: Regular: $3.899 Plus: $4.099 V-Power: $4.199 With a car wash, prices were $0.20 less per gallon. But who wants to get a car wash at 10pm at night? This is a great place in many ways and has been my routine go to for gas. The gas pump interface allows you to purchase car wash in exchange for 20cent discount per gallon. It however not print the receipt for car wash, and only reports on the display that you are charged for gas only. If you are unsuspecting and in a hurry, you might drive off as you may think somehow your request for car wash did not go through (since you see that your are only charged for the gas). This happened many times to me. This time though, I went in and asked for the receipt. To my surprise it did show the that I was charged! $15 extra for the wash I chose. When I complained to the staff manager Diana, she was hesitant to even listen and register a complaint. When asked for a phone number to report a complaint, asked me to go lookup online. When asked for a phone number gave me a defunct number. read more

Their gas is better quality than many others around, but it makes sense because they also tend to be slightly more expensive. This isn't a bigger location, but the storefront carries a decent selection of products for sale. read more

Be careful when going here. Although a convenient location, they have now (TWICE) attempted to deceive my family on car wash fees. 1st time we were overcharged by $90! Maybe an accident, but now a second "mistake" was made by double charging me for one car wash and attempting to hide a my change within the receipts. This is my neighborhood shell and I have been going here for years. The cashiers are always very friendly, helpful and hard working at this location. I also appreciate that they always kick in the air machine so I can pump up my bike tires from time to time. this is my neighborhood gas station. relatively new and prices are reasonable. i like the tv commercials and show fragments they show above the pumps (good distraction). only problem i have is that sometimes the gas pump won't stay pumping when i set the little trigger that keeps the gas pump going... i don't know if this is an issue with my car, but i don't seem to have this problem at any of the other gas stations i frequent. maybe something is different about the pressure thresholds at these pumps. read more

The attendants working the place around 1 pm on a Saturday were incredibly rude. I took a vehicle over there that had been sitting for a while, so the battery was weak. At the station, it wouldn't start back up. I had a battery booster, but it was weak from the first start up earlier. It didn't have enough power to start the vehicle again. So I asked the attendant if they had a booster (lots of stations, especially ones with garages, keep one available for customers). They didn't. So I asked if I could plug mine into the wall for a couple minutes to charge. And they started yelling at me to buy jumper cables. They refused to help at all, and were rude about it. read more

Do not use the car wash if you value your paint! The brushes are so strong and so rough that it scratched through the paint of my Volvo in several spots, particularly on the hood, while leaving other areas completely dirty. To add insult to injury, the drying phase barely dries at all and the whole thing is over in a blink of an eye. I'm mad at myself that I didn't notice the damage right after it happened or I would have complained. Now I have to spot reseal my paint in a couple of places because they look like rust magnets. read more
