We don't get fuel here very often but we do get our propane tank filled here…read more We live near downtown LG and getting a propane refill here is normally much faster than going for an exchange because they can usually do it immediately instead of going to an exchange, waiting in line, paying a cashier, having them call somebody else who can unlock a cage, driving to the cage, and only then doing the exchange. That whole process can easily take 20 minutes, minimum. Here, you just tell the cashier and they walk out and fill your tank it even if several people are getting fuel so their propane service is quick and easy. Prices fluctuate but our refill cost on Sept 7, 2024 was $22.50 out the door and we were driving away with our refilled tank in less than a couple minutes. Also... general consensus is that you get more propane with a refill because they actually fill it as opposed to an exchange where they only fill to the bare minimum. My photos are of our refill from the 76 gas station compared to an exchange we did a while back. Weighed with the same scale on the same day within 15 minutes of each other. The tank refilled at the 76 station weighed 35.2 lbs and the Blue Rhino exchange tank weighed 33.2 lbs. Subtracting the weight of the tanks themselves (17 lbs) reveals 18.2 lbs of propane from 76 and 16.2 lbs from the Blue Rhino exchange tank. The result is that we got 12.3% more propane from the 76 gas station refill than we got from the exchange tank... for less money and much faster service. After a little research it seems we got lucky with our 16.2 lbs from Blue Rhino because a search reveals they aim for only 15 lbs propane (see screenshot from Google.

That makes a smog check $70-$120, perhaps even higher for heavy duty/larger vehicles. While not unexpected for Los Gatos, there are plenty of other smog check stations in the area with lower prices.

Had one of the strangest experiences ever trying to get a simple smog check done on my daughter's Miata. TL;DR: Extremely rude attendant. I ended up stopping the test, requesting a refund, and leaving. First and last time here! I would give zero stars if I could. Take your car somewhere else! I arrived and had to search for the attendant, found him hiding in a corner after searching around. He told me to scan the QR code on the wall, paid for the smog by scanning the QR code as instructed by him. $158! which was very expensive but I paid to get it done/over and the Miata is old (1992) so I know it's more more than just plugging into the OBD. After waiting for a while he comes out and says "the idle is too high". He ask me to take a look and I know that usually it's because the AC is turned on that the revs go up (It's a 1992 Miata with all of like 115hp). I look into the car and press the AC button to check since he called me over. Everything seems fine, he says ok, revs are down. I walk back out. A few minutes later he comes out and is visibly upset. Raising his voice, scolding me because he has to start the test over and now it will take more time. He goes back to do the test again. We step out to grab water down the street since the waiting area is basically unusable (the office looks completely torn up). While we were at the intersection, he came running over, yelling at us from across the street. When we got back, he continues lecturing me about pressing the AC button and said he will now do another car before mine -- all while acting like this was some outrageous situation. At that point I had enough (and scolding for a grown up man just trying to get a smog check done) so I ask him if we can just do a refund and I'll go on my merry way to get it done some other place (A place where I will not feel like a delinquent school boy). The "gentleman" suddenly can't do anything and says to just call and ask for a refund from "The Company" that did the smog. I ask him who? Didn't you just do the smog? I did call "The Company", and thankfully they were responsive and processed the refund quickly (supposedly within 10 days). My wife, who is about as calm and easygoing as they come, was equally shocked by how rude and unprofessional the whole interaction was. Negative 5 stars for the "gentleman" attendant and his POS attitude. Positive 4 stars for the quick response and help when calling for refund. Lets see if I get that refund on time.....

I tried using my credit card to pay. I was planning on filling my tank but the machine says see the attendant. I go to the attendant and he asks he how much I want. I don't know, I just want to fill up my tank? These machines at the gas station only let you pay inside and let you do a custom amount. I just want to fill up my tank all the way, but this station doesn't let you unfortunately.

This Exxon-Mobil® station is convenient to -my place and has decent prices for the area--they actually could be higher considering the neighborhood and the proximity to two large freeways (Heys 17 & 85). The station is kind of small and can be a bit of a shit-show to get in when it's full. The other thing I don't like is their display signs show the (10¢) discounted cash price, as opposed to the higher ATM/CC price. I know they're technically not doing anything illegal but it's still shady as hell and b.s. in my book. There is a convenience store attached to it but I've never been. So, yeah...
