This gas station is convenient because it right by the century movie theater we go to but ran into a lot of issues here. The first pump I was at kept freezing up and after several attempts went to the attendant who was on the phone. She did something in the system and said try again and it didn't work. So moved to the next pump over and same issue. Come to find out after 15 minutes the Apple Pay is not working even though there is no sign stating that. This is the Shell Gas Station with a prime location at Shoreline Blvd & West Middlefield Rd in Mountain View, CA. I read some of the past reviews, and they talk about "cheap gas." Shell gasoline is not cheap gas, it's Top Tier fuel with special additives. It's also not cheap price-wise. Looking at the most recent gas price survey, all the major brands in town are hovering around $5.39-5.49/ Reg. So the price is no higher or lower than any other station. What's good about this station? It's close to the Hwy 101 freeway ramps. Easy to enter and exit. There's a carwash, but it didn't look used alot. There's cashier booth and they display all the drinks, snacks, and automotive outside. Now, if the drinks are cold, that's fine. If you need a motor oil, that's fine. But I think I would skip the candy rack. Chocolate begins to melt at around 72*F. On Sept 6, 2022, the average temperature was around 100*F in the SF Bay Area. I think Mountain View hit 102*F. Fragile foods like candy shouldn't be outside like that. You want candy, find a 7-11 or a gas station with a food mart. Overall, a 2-star experience. Get gas and leave. read more

There are so many cars parking badly not to buy gas but to visit the food truck. We needed a carwash and decided to go to this Shell since we live nearby and were out running errands. We bought the highest priced carwash at this Shell, $10. I looked online after and discovered there's one higher, $12, so not sure if this Shell hasn't updated their menu prices. The carwash was the worst we have ever had. The employee even followed us out and told us that cars have been having problems with the red, yellow, and green carwash lights and for us to read the instructions carefully, which, to us meant that the problems were user error. We followed them but when we pulled fully into the bay both the red and green lights were flashing. The carwash listed about 5+ things that the wash included but all we got was the brushes for a wash and brushes for a rinse. Nothing else. After the wash there was no blow dry, which is normal for automatic carwashes (but I'm not sure if it was included in the $10 wash, I didn't check so that's on me, or if it's even installed at this station) and upon getting home we noticed there was still dirt and dust on the moonroof and rear window. The doors and hood still had the spots on them. We might have just visited on an off-day, but first impressions matter and we won't be coming back. read more

Got the car wash, which was mediocre, and had no dryer (even though other Loops have them). There was no sign that there was a lack of dryer. We told them to put up a sign saying there is no dryer, but our feedback likely fell on deaf ears. At least we were able to relay how poor the car wash was to another potential customer as he was pulling in. I think he also told someone else, so I'm glad they saved their money. Called the manager, Maria, while we were on the road, who said we could get a refund. So we drove back and the employee there said he could not honor it until he verified with Maria. Well, Maria never picked up after multiple tries (how convenient). Never got the refund. Stay away and don't give this bad and shady manager business. SO by and large its just a gas station. The prices are in line with the other gas stations in the neighborhood. But man was the service crappy today. First off, your machine did not spit out a receipt. Usually no problem but I purchased a car wash as well and need the code off the receipt. Clerk looked really put out to reprint that sucker too. Also please change the windshield washing fluid once and a while. My windows may actually have been dirtier after I used the, (I know I'm getting the car washed but I like to knock off any sticky stuff) Get to the car wash put in my code and realize they did not take off the whopping $1 discount since I bought gas. Its a buck but its my buck. I get the car washed and OMFG did the clerk look even more irritated that I was interrupting her phone call. Tossed the $1 and the receipt into the drawer without an word. Zero star is i can. The gas station is cheap for reasons. Equipments are old junk, cheap quality service, rude staff. I paid 10$ for car wash while filling up tank. There was no sign that there is no dryer. The car wash is complete rip off, just water sprinkle for like 45 seconds. No dryer so need to wait there for half an hour. When I complained the person named "Alex" instead of understanding customer compalint started behaving like physcopath. Said he owns the shell company and this is what they want. I saw the sign at the station entrance which said that I could get 20 cents per gallon off my gas with any car wash purchase, so I went ahead and got the car wash. When I took my receipt to the cashier, I was informed that I was supposed to buy a package deal at the counter and that he couldn't give me the discount. I asked if I could purchase the combo now and he could refund my old car wash ticket, but he refused. Asked him if he could manually do the discount, he still refused. I pointed out that the sign didn't say anything about having to buy the package at the counter, offered to buy the gas and bring that receipt up for a manual discount, etc etc, still wouldn't budge. Talk about misleading advertising and crappy service-- I just ended up leaving. If they want to pinch pennies over a literal 20 cent discount, then they should be ready to lose business. read more

This gas station covers all the basics for your car. Gas (diesel available), vacuum and air services, and a car wash. Like most Shells you can pay at the pump. Unlike a lot of the newer Shells in the area, this one isn't a Loop and doesn't have a "real" store interior either. This shell has prime real estate, and cheaper gas than the more expensive Chevron across the street. It suffers due to access issues from Shoreline Blvd. during any hours of traffic, so beware if you're looking to stop. You may commonly get stuck in the parking lot for a few cycles of the street lights, with static traffic that doesn't seem to disperse. I stop here frequently for a soda, snack, or a tank top off. In the evenings, the snack-shack window attendant is very kind, and has offered to help me save a little money with multi-pack discounts on a few separate occasions. So sweet of her! There's plenty of space to pull in/out of the pumps when traffic isn't an issue. I'd recommend this as a nice mid-afternoon or nighttime destination on this side of Mountain View. Watch out for the Mountain View Police, they like to camp out around this intersection to catch the frustrated commuter who is late to work. Overall, a nice place plagued by traffic but convenient for those near Shoreline/101. read more

Since you basically just pump gas, using the machine payment system, but I just returned from being STUCK in the CAR WASH for a full hour!! The only person in charge did not speak English and kept yelling at me to move my car. But my car wheels kept spinning without moving forward nor backward to exit the car wash. After trying so hard to communicate with him and muttering my very limited Spanish, he yelled at me to call the car mechanic. Finally, a very kind customer who was lining up to get his car washed helped me get my car out. This must not be the first time that a mechanical problem occurred, and to have the only employee not only uninterested in helping, but literally yelling at you for an hour really does not help. They should also post a toll-free technical support number to rescue customers when the employee cannot speak English! I am a mild-tempered human being but feel furious. read more

This Shell scores by usually being the cheapest or second-cheapest station near the MV/PA border serving "top-tier gas" (defined as Shell, Chevron, 76). The Chevron across the street and the other Shell on Rengstorff are usually 5-10 cents higher across the board. Minus one star for having a carwash that sometimes knocks assorted body pieces off your car or bends your license plate. (In contrast, Chevron represents the other extreme with its wussier touch-free wash that leaves your car undamaged but unclean. Take your pick.) Random gas-related thought: when prices are equal, feed your money to Chevron, which at least has the honor of being Evil Bay Area Oil, rather than Evil Dutch Oil (Shell) or Evil Texas Oil (76). 2014 update: Valero and Arco have officially joined the "top-tier gas" club, and the Valero on San Antonio is almost always cheaper than this place. Horrible service. Payed $10 for the Ultimate Car Wash. It lasted maybe 60 seconds and did not dry the car. When I went to the attendant, Jorge, to state that I the dryer didn't work and I should be given a discount or a refund, he said no. He knew that the dryer wasn't working and yet, they proceed to sell the car washes. He proceeded to provide me 3 towels and told me that I could dry my car myself. Good: I came on a Saturday around 2pm, and there were plenty of pumps. The station attendant quickly came out when he saw that I was looking for assistance (the pump was rejecting my credit card when I tried to make a 2nd transaction). Meh: The carwash doesn't dry your car (which they state on the payment machine). So you're paying at least $6 to basically get your car hosed down. It was fine for me since I was hopping onto 101 freeway shortly after -- lots of speed takes away most of the water droplets. read more

The gas here is cheap and good. There are 3 gas stations at this corner: Shell, Chevron, and an Arco. The Arco is always $0.10 less than the Shell, the Shell is always $0.10 less than the Chevron. I filled up once at the Arco and got 20.7 mpg on the tank. At Shell, I got 24.4 mpg on the tank, same driving patterns (mostly city driving). That's a pretty substantial improvement for just $0.10 more per gallon! I haven't had a car wash here because it's always closed in the morning and the Chevron across the street has a touchless, so I can't say much as to that (except that car washes are cheap -- only $5 with gas purchase). read more

I used to go to this gas station every time since I live nearby. Last month I've been there all the pumps displays were not working, so I couldn't pay with credit card and I had to go find another gas station. I just gave it a try again today, just to find out most of the pumps displays were still not working! I can't believe they haven't improved in a month. Don't buy your gas here! It's diluted. I filled up at a different shell with 87 octane and got 300+ miles on a half tank. But from here I barely got 250 on a half tank. convenient shell station to where i live, so i will filler up here especially when my baby moans "i'm hungry" and needs fuel. i've never had to wait in a long line for gas, probably b/c arco, which is kitty corner to this shell, has lower prices, but i generally feel that it's worth it to pay a few cents more to avoid waiting in line. after all, time is money, right? this shell is also super convenient especially if i'm about to hit freeway 101. car wash is also available here. read more

I will NEVER go there again and tell everyone I know how careless and unconcerned about customers the OWNER(S) are. Most folks I know care about service, not just price. This is the service station to go to if you want BAD service. Warning: AVOID THE CAR WASH AND VACUUM!!!! The car wash does not dry your vehicle and the vacuum did not work. I put $1.75 into the vacuum and it would not turn on. When I asked the young man at the kiosk if I could have my money back he just shook his head. When I asked to talk to his supervisor, his supervisor said they don't own the vacuum and could not give me my money back. I asked for the phone # of the "owner of the vacuum"...the number he gave me I believe was bogus: the voicemail said "global telecomm" and sounded like a wrong number. I have yet to hear back from them. It was very frustrating and they were very rude to me. I work down the street but next time I'll go to Valero and wash my car at a REAL car wash. read more
