Miguel really listened and worked with us to do a major overhaul, putting up a back fence, installing sprinklers, improving drainage and even creating the perfect nook for our son's trampoline and finding a perfect little key lime tree for the back raised garden section. They installed a lovely drip type system in our raised bed as well. As the project took shape, Miguel was flexible and responsive and never made me feel we were asking too much or that he was eager to move on to his next project. Chris Howse of Prewett Read is a fount of knowledge and especially on native plants. Her bid to cut back the freeze damage, structurally prune shrubs that haven't been touched in years and replace some shrubs was more than reasonable, but it didn't reflect the care and meticulous workmanship of her crew. When they applied mulch, they actually lifted the plant leaves to make sure they didn't get buried and rot. When they pruned, they didn't use equipment - they carefully selected each branch and manually used a pruning shear. When they finished, they even cleaned our pool. They even blew any specks of debris off neighbors' cars parked along the curbs. I was a property manager for more than two decades and have never had such a terrific landscape service. Wish I had known about them years ago!

I had multiple bids and opted to have the landscaping work installed by another vendor. My drip system was to remain along the side of the house as that wasn't included in the bid. The crew ripped it apart and threw parts away. It really upset Tom when I asked him replace the line that his crew had damaged. It was soggy all along that side of the house. I actually had the vinyl hose in my shed. Hose was replaced, ground dried out but the water won't run longer than two minutes or so and it shuts off. His crew came back and said there was dirt in the filter. They cleaned it and it worked. At this point in time, my mother was in hospice at my house. Every conversation with Tom was so stressful. Trying to get him to come back and do warranty work was like pulling teeth. His answer was to turn off the sprinkler ( in August with newly installed landscaping so the house would look good for the gathering after Mom's funeral) until he could get by. After he was rude for the first few months, I thought he must be having personal problems so I gave him a wide bearth. Well. The filter must be clogged again but the housing around it in the ground is too small to be able to take it apart to clean (per another firm who said it is improperly installed). He is continuing to be very rude. It is worth paying someone else to fix Tom's work to not have to deal with him.

We decided to wait a while to have any work done, and after a second consult a couple of months later, his guys came and did a 2-3 day job installing multiple heavy duty drains, piping in the gutter downspouts and sending everything out around the side of the house to the front curb. During the project we voiced a few concerns and he listened and adjusted the plans to give us what we wanted and stay within budget. After completing the work his guys cleaned up and actually left the place nicer than when they arrived. We were really impressed with the service we received and would recommend Southern Magnolia Landscaping to anyone who needs help with drainage issues.

This company was professional, answered all my questions and even suggested a few things to considered. They incorporated my vision of what I had in mind with their many years of experience in the landscape business/design. The lead foreman assured me "we are going to make it look really nice", and that is exactly what they did and more. The final transformation was amazing. They did a great job rerouting a few underground sprinkler lines in order for plants to get efficient watering levels. The crew was polite, cleaned up afterwards and worked very hard throughout the day to get their work done on schedule. I highly recommend using this company. I live in Del Webb in Richmond and I have noticed their company trucks many times since my project was complete. I also chked out their BBB rating and Google reviews before hiring them. They do a good job for a fair price and leave things cleaned up when they leave. They even cleaned up my tall palm tree at no extra cost every year, which is so appreciated. Don is a native Houstonian who grew up in Spring Branch and now. lives in the Katy/Cypress area. He's a hard worker, prompt, kind and courteous. He always makes sure we're happy upon completion. I always go out for at least one other bid, but Don has always beat the other bid. So long as his price stays consistent like his work, I'll be using him for my tree trimmings from now til dead! P.S.
