The bread was Rancid!!! I kept smelling something rotten, but it wasn't the meat. Turns out it was the stinky bread

I've heard a lot people mention Culver's as an alternative to the Big 5 (McDs, BK, TB, KFC and…read moreArby's) While it was a nice break from other fast food, it's way overpriced, probably due to its overhead and marketing. We stopped here enroute to the bridge, and just wasn't impressed for all the rave reviews. I mean it is fast food, so I wasn't really expecting it to be spectacular or served on a silver platter, but so many seem to brag about it, when it's comparable to a west coast Fatburger. The location is very clean, the employees are friendly and helpful, but also seem to give you "the look" of like "haven't you been here before?" (When we haven't) We have stopped in a couple of times and made it a point to try some different items. Price is substantially above the Big 5, we're just sick of the Big 5 and spent the extra $20-$25. It's probably good for some, but not for all. We generally don't eat a lot of fast food anyway, so I hope not to turn others off. Just be warned you'll pay more for food at all their locations, and it's not much different than other fast food for the higher price. Their Butter burger was tasty, fish sandwich ok, chicken sandwich is a chicken sandwich and soggy fries.

I remember liking Culver's more, but for the price it isn't worth it. The wait was reasonable. The cheese curds were great. The burger was fine, but I find the bun too fluffy. The shake was extremely icy and was thrown out after a few bites. I'd much rather find a 5 guys or even Dairy Queen next time I want a burger, OR I'll hold off on a burger craving til in the vicinity of In-N-Out for the best experience.

The issues I have are, the inconsistency of the food, the outrageous price increases over the past few years, and the new cumbersome online ordering system. Food Inconsistency: Mostly with their pizza. Not sure if this is due to a change in management or high employee turnover. Like others have said, sometimes the crust is fine, and at other times it can be over or under done. Their pizza sauce and toppings are good, but the amounts can vary with each pizza. You would think they would have set pattern to follow. Like, this is how we make a pizza with the normal amount of toppings, this is how we make it with a light amount of toppings, and this is how we make it with extra toppings. Maybe it's a training issue. Pricing: I know the prices of food has gone up in the last few years, but not by 100%. The signature meatballs on their shareables menu are now $17, a few years ago they were $8. The meatballs are good size, but $17 for 4 meatballs and 6 breadsticks, really. I can buy 3lbs of ground round for that and get 16 of the same size meatballs. They're charging $13 for a basket of deep fried pickles, really, they're pickles. It is $12.50 for 6 deep fried cheese sticks and dipping sauce. Online ordering system: For some reason they decided to changeover to a new online ordering system. I have a G's account, I didn't receive any notification of the system change, or how to navigate through it. I also lost all my G's reward points when the change occurred. The old system was easy to navigate and worked just fine. So if you ordered a pizza, you chose what size. For the toppings you chose, you had the option of light, regular or extra amounts. With the new system the amounts are a series of numbers that range from +1,+2,+3, or -1,-2,-3, with no explanation of how a number affects the amount used. We usually order the same pizza. We get extra peperoni, extra fresh mozzarella cheese, and a flavored crust. The first one we ordered had little to no sauce, regular amount of peperoni and cheese, and the bottom of the crust was paper thin and over baked. Compared to that one, I've had better pizza at some gas stations. Now I have to say, I am a cheese fanatic, however, the next pizza we ordered the crust thickness was fine, right amount of sauce and peperoni, but there was so much cheese on it, it was even to much for me. Also, not sure what changed, there is so much grease/oil on the bottom of the crust that it soaks through the paper and the bottom of the box. I wasn't like that in the past. The pizza we got yesterday had extra cheese on one half, and very little on the other half. So again, inconsistency.

The cashier paused for a minute with my bag in her hand and a co-worker came from behind with my small fry, put it in the bag and said "Those are just out of the fryer. Enjoy, my man." He wasn't kidding. I had to let them cool for a moment. The fries are what usually drew me to Rally's back in the day, and they were still on point. Hot crisp, not greasy in the least, with that irresistable seasoned coating on them. The Rally burger was good too, with nice beef flavor and plenty of toppings. I had to ask for ketchup before I pulled away, but left with more than enough. I won't wait years before my next Rally's visit.
