Typical Big Boy restaurant. They attempted to practice social distancing but people were seated at the table directly behind us. All of the tables and seats had been washed when we arrived so they had a hard time finding a dry seat for us to sit in. I ordered a Greek salad and it was supposed to come with chick peas and when I asked why there weren't any in the salad the waitress blamed it on food shortages from the pandemic. I'm not sure why they would run out of chick peas, but who knows. Maybe it's gotten as popular as toilet paper!!

Egg White Omelette with mushrooms, onions, green peppers, cheese, and diced turkey sausage. Side of pancakes and coffee.

Breakfast I ordered was delicious. I ordered an egg white omelette with turkey sausage, cheese, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Came with hash browns and side of pancakes. Waitress was very nice. Good coffee. Stopped here to eat breakfast on my way to Roscommon. I noticed there is a West Branch outlet mall across the street if that interests you. FYI this may be your last opportunity (exit 212) to eat and fill up gas before you get to Roscommon. Enjoy!

I do like eating here, but last time I ordered pot roast got two small pieces that were fatty. That's the only bad experience I had there.

We only had the salad bar and a Big Boy Sandwich, but the soups were great and the salad bar very fresh.

So that is my reason for only 4 stars. We went there in January of this year for breakfast. My wife had a bacon and cheese omelette, I had a sausage and cheese omelette, both come with toast and hash browns. I also had a side of sausage gravy. I had coffee, my wife had a soda. The bill was $42, we left a $7 tip which brought our total to $49 for breakfast. They charge a 3% fee for debit or credit cards, that takes you to $50 for breakfast. I understand that food prices have been going up, along with the egg shortage due to the bird flu. However, the egg shortage is over, but the prices at Mac's haven't come down. During the shortage, eggs were $6 - $8 a dozen or more depending where you shopped. Today I can buy a case of 60 gage free large eggs at Wal Mart for $9.56, that's about $.016 per egg. The omelettes at Mac's are made with 3 eggs. So that's $0.48 for a 3 egg omelette plus the sausage and cheese. For $9.56, I can make 20-3 egg omelettes. Also, I'm sure restaurants pay less as they are buying their supplies in bulk.

My eggs were cooked to order; the bacon was hot and exactly how I like it; & the dollar sized pancakes were thick and perfect. The homey decor paired with the friendly service made it feel like you were visiting a friend who also happens to be a baker extraordinaire! The staff here goes above and beyond with the drink attentiveness--our waitress kept the refills coming and even offered us a coffee to go as the place was winding down. Now that's hospitality! Located conveniently across from the Tesla superchargers, it's the perfect pit stop for some recharge-yourself-while-you-recharge-the-car vibes. And don't leave without trying a slice of their famous pie. We were tipped off by the waitress that the buttermilk and berry pies are the crowd favorites, and I can see why! If you're a pie person, don't miss. Food-wise, it's classic Michigan fare. The chicken and rice soup of the day was exactly what you'd expect--simple, no-frills, but satisfying. I also tried the quiche of the day, which came with a fruit cup (not the freshest fruit ever, but no complaints here) and a homemade scone that was delicious! The pesto chicken sandwich hit the spot, too. Whether you're here for the pies, the quiche, or just to soak up the local charm, Mulberry Cafe has you covered. And with an attached gift shop, you might just find a cute souvenir to remember your visit.
