Wife ordered a beer which never made it to the table (Strike 1). Parmesan wings were dry and tasteless with no sauce at all and half of the tacos we ordered had no sauce either. (Strike 2). Waitress offered to get the manager who deemed himself too busy to interact and just told the waitress to comp us on the food we sent back. So very kind of you to comp us on the stuff we could not or would not eat. We have seen this manager lurking by the kitchen staring at the floor with a scowl on his face like a gargoyle on a church. (Strike 3). Do us all a favor and bag this manager or close this location altogether. We stopped here while passing through on a Wednesday night. They were running a deal on any pasta for $10.99. I typically wouldn't pay for pasta in a restaurant because it's easy (and inexpensive) to make at home; however, the deal included a Bourbon Chicken (or Shrimp) with andoullie sausage, regularly $16.99 or $17.99. So we ordered one of each and were amazed by how flavorful and generous the dishes were! Plenty of well seasoned and cooked protein plus perfectly grilled onions, red and green peppers. Served with a bread stick. We even had leftovers! We also added house salads for $3.79 each. They were ice cold, with diced cucumber, tomato and cheese. The honey mustard was a good quality, too. The restaurant was clean and they pulled tables out to thoroughly clean the carpet underneath. Our server, Alisa, was very friendly and checked on us at the right times. The bathrooms were clean. I haven't been to Applebee's twice in twenty years, let alone twice in one week. (We went to Clio two days ago.) I'll say this, they've upped their game. You should try it! read more

Several of their meals are good, like the Bistro Chicken and Shrimp, Ribs are good also. However, their version of a French Dip is terrible. They call it the Prime Rib Dipper. They claim it is made with prime rib, if it is, it is made from scraps they slice from the whole prime rib. The meat is sliced to thick, is overcooked, and fatty. It is like chewing shoe leather. Also, they put mayo on it, never heard of putting mayo on a French Dip, I ordered it without the mayo So my one star rating is for this sandwich. I good French Dip uses a lean shaved beef that is tender and not overcooked. I would not order this sandwich again. read more

As periodic visitors to West Branch, we have eaten at this restaurant before and found that the food is decent fare if not worthy of rave reviews. Tonight was no exception. My wife's nacho dinner was "just okay". My whiskey bacon burger was juicy and tasty. Fries which accompanied the burger were average. As far as service was concerned our server Cheyenne was attentive, almost too attentive as she came by a number of times to take a possible dessert order while we were midpoint in our meal. And the bill came before we were finished the main course. She also forgot the lemon my wife requested with her water. An intern? New hire? This is a family restaurant and the patrons on this Tuesday night reflected that truth. We will visit this restaurant again for its prompt service, cleanliness, and good food. read more

Wonderful server, super polite, and he was apologetic for the wait. I think his name was grenell, I'm sorry if I pronounced his name wrong. However, the lady at the door with the flower on her head was rude. Probably one of the rudest hosts I've seen in awhile. Witnessed her being very rude to her fellow host, with a tie dye mask. Really upsets me because she was doing a wonderful job, and trying to keep everyone updated and happy. The wait was supposed to be 20 min. Pretty sure we were out there 30-40 min. Got in, and was told to walk out because someone didn't clean off the tables. Also, I watched 15 people walk out, and we still didn't get called in after 30 min. I have eatin here for 20 years I remember when the service was great, the food , people took pride in making, but lately the last 2 night time visits have been sorely sub par. Steak overcooked, food cold, 30 minutes to get it appetizers brought out with dinner, drinks not refilled (I actually went to the bar to get a refill) and just the overall attentiveness was lacking. Let me be clear. I hate complaining, and now a days you cant be certain your food wont take the brunt of it. The manager happened by towards the early end of our meal to ask how everything was? I explained it wasn't great but not the worst we've had but was disappointed. He offered additional food to replace it, but you wait 30 minutes for it then begrudgingly eat some of it, you dont want more. The thing I hated the most out of this was him (the manager) "asking me" what he could do to make it right? I am certain some folks wont understand this, but I dont want to be asked this, I simply want the manager to ascertain what "he" needs to do to make "it right" especially if more food isn't the "fix". We had some errands to run in West Branch and needed to get more paint and primer from Home Depot. So instead of me cooking dinner THEN running over we decided to take the boys out to dinner. Which mind you with the 6 of us is no small change. We had the normal Vote and DJ opted for Applebee's Grill + Bar. So we ran to HD first to get our supplies. The boys were excited of course to go out to eat. When we went into Applebees we were greeted by a young man who said he could seat us right away and asked if it was ok to just put two tables together. Of course we had no issue with this. There was NOT a lot of people in there either mind you, many open booths, spaces and tables. He went into the dining area and promptly came right back. He said he couldn't do that but we could sit in a booth. There were 6 of us and he wanted to put us ALL in a booth.. if you've seen my kiddos you know that can't happen. Lol! I said that wasn't possible so he said he could do tables. He walks us into the dining area and points at a booth for the kids to sit at and tells DJ and I to sit at a table over in another area. Mind you we weren't THAT far away from them but there was another booth and table in between us. He was shocked when I said that wouldn't work, we wanted to sit with our boys. He proceeded to say there was nothing else they had. Yet when I looked over in the other section the big U shaped seating area was open and a bunch of other tables that could have been moved together. There were other people sitting over there, even people with kids. So it wasn't like they were waiting for a party to come in. I'm so disappointed. Even the older couple behind us waiting to be seated asked why we couldn't be seated in the other area. I just smiled at them, said thank you and told them to have a good night. I've heard many people complain lately about how they've been treated here and how the food was. We won't be going back, that was down right embarrassing having to explain that to my children.... Thankfully Ranchero's had NO problem seating us right away and they were very nice to us. read more

On our way home from Up-North we decided to get a carryout and chose this Applebee's. Well, I can say it wasn't great. The waitress who took our order was very pleasant; repeated the order back to me correctly and it was ready when we arrived which was within 25 minutes of calling. The burgers we ordered were okay- not impressed. The fries that came with the burgers were not hot and were very soggy. They also forgot our extra side of ranch. I guess that's what I get for not checking our order before we left. My husband was mad that he couldn't order his burger to his liking- they only will cook it to Pink & he wanted it as rare as they would cook it. They also didn't provide a single napkin without carryout. What happened to Applebee's? It used to be a decent chain restaurant when they first opened. Service was the worst ever. I work in restaurants so I am patient. We waited 15 and never got greeted after being seated and I had to get up to get someone to get us a drink. Took another 10 min. Didnt get shrimp I ordered. Had to ask twice for onions in my salad. Food on our bill we didnt order. Then another 5 min to take that food off. Then no receipt showing the food was off the bill. Had to go up and get a receipt. And they weren't busy, she had 2 tables and we were on ed of them. We were in the bar area, we are front center. A $46 tab she got $4. I've been going to this Applebee's for about 20 years now and that must speak for itself. The food is as good as any other of their restaurants and I've been to them all over. The service is very good and of course the atmosphere is pretty much the same. Have no idea what could be on other's minds to give them such a low grade. We go there about 4 times a year as we live 30 miles away but we love them. Best ribs anywhere in our opinion. Fabulous Perfect Margarita and outside of these things I've never had anything on the menu I wasn't happy with. In all of my years of going to Applebees and that's actually 32 years starting in Knoxville, TN, I've only had one incident which wasn't an A. That's pretty damn good. read more
