Just picked up dinner after a long day and once I get home 20 minutes later I find a chicken sandwich with no chicken. Really?

So let me start this review by saying I have never been a huge fan of Pickleman's. I only ever had…read morethem catered in to work events and they were very lackluster, basic sandwiches. However, when I tried them for myself outside of catering, I actually was semi pleasantly surprised with the options on offer. Yes, they do have those basic sandwiches that were catered in (if you like that, I mean) - but they also have a lot of other items you can add onto sandwiches when you order for yourself. I tried the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, and added mayo and black olives, and removed the onions. It was actually pretty delicious, but still kind of basic when compared to other sandwich shops in town (Potbelly is my favorite of the similar ones to Pickleman's) I also ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese (I know, more pulled pork??). It was alright, but was cold when I got it home, so maybe the container they put it in doesn't retain heat so well. Basic Mac and cheese with a tiny bit of pulled pork on top and bbq sauce. If you couldn't tell, I ordered a few side things in case the sandwich was gross. I also grabbed the Broccoli Cheese soup. Now, when it comes to broccoli cheese soups, the one I measure them all against is the Panera one that comes in a bread bowl. And this was nothing compared to that. Kind of bland and also cold. Now I know you're saying "couldn't you just heat up these cold items?" And to that I say "I shouldn't have to do that, when I literally live a block from the store!" The one bright spot was that the cookies I ordered I ordered were actually pretty good - soft, flavorful, and pretty inexpensive. I would get those again, but not much else from Pickleman's.

Fresh made to order salads and sandwiches. Friendly helpful service. We went at an off hour so not…read moremany people but plenty of seating. The room was a little chilly for the kind of day we were having , maybe the staff needed it cooler. Our salads were delicious and the soup hit the spot. We left quite satisfied. A tiny bit pricey but good food. Give them a try.

Wow, why did it take me so long to come here?! Sand Point is celebrating their second anniversary…read morein October 2025. Owned by a trio of dedicated foodies, this restaurant exceeded all my expectations, and their attention to detail shows. The quality of food, the attentive service, and the fastidiously clean and modern interior makes for a welcoming cozy atmosphere. Vote voted best of Omaha 2025 all I can say is they truly deserve it! Located just north of Dodge at 108th St., the restaurant is conveniently situated with a large parking lot and plenty of space for easy access. The restaurant takes reservations, but I had no challenge arriving mid afternoon for my first visit. I was pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. I was presented a fabulous menu plus specials, which made a hard decision even harder. Offering New England fare, I cannot recall since my childhood on the East Coast, where I saw clam strips on the menu, let alone freshly prepared on site. Cooked to perfection and offering a delightful twist, as the clam strips were served with traditional tartar and Chinese sweet-and-sour sauce. I was offered a complementary taste of their cornbread, prepared by the in-house pastry chef, which was by far the best cornbread I've ever enjoyed. The Portuguese fish stew offered a fabulous Bouillabaisse with plenty of muscles, shrimp, and clams as well as chorizo to fill me up! A full bar, plenty of beers on tap, and a lovely wine list offers great pairings with all the menu items. With their anniversary celebration, there will be specials offered, keep your eyes peeled on their website for menu items and wine offerings through the end of the month. I cannot say enough about this restaurant other than I will be back! I encourage you to check out the best of Omaha, or simply the best, at the Sand Point ASAP!

You can really taste how well they source and handle their seafood. The presentation was clean and simple, letting the oysters shine. Definitely one of the best spots in Omaha for fresh oysters and I will be back again as this saves me a trip to Boston to get such freshness. The head chef Keaton Shuckman, even came out to shuck the oysters and was very friendly in conversation with us! I will go back for a visit

The location on 204th Street in Gretna is clean, open, inviting ... but noisy. It's one of those warehouse-type settings where you really have to work at having a private conversation. Seating is expecially comfortable in the big chairs, but then you have to schootch them close together and lean in so you can hear each other, which is unfortunate. Granted, tables are set far apart, but this should be in addition to. Coffee was delicious, but the beignet bites were just so-so. Granted, one should not expect New Orleans beignets outside of New Orleans, but these little donut puffs had only a light dusting of powdered sugar (which I actually was thankful for because I wore black pants!), and there was a not-overly-pleasant surprise inside with an indistinguishable creamy substance that was sort of like the inside of a brown sugar cinnamon poptart, only less so. I hadn't been expecting that. The yogurt parfait was substantial and delicious. (The staff was friendly and helpful when making selections, but it didn't occur to me to ask about fillings.) I might visit again, but maybe at one of the other locations, if acoustics were more promising.

Let me preface this by saying I've never much liked Fernando's. But my husband had always liked…read morethem when they'd catered into his work (years ago) - so I acquiesced when he requested to go there for old time's sake. The ambiance is rather dated, with a very 70s feel to the place. That may be what they're going for, but it didn't put me at ease that the meal would be spectacular. We were seated next to the bar which was straight out of Goodfellas. We could hear every conversation the bartender was having with his regular guests, so it was definitely good eavesdropping material. Our server was fine, there were no complaints there. We started with the Queso Blanco dip, and while it tasted alright, it was pretty similar to the queso blanco Velveeta cheese we bought a few weeks before at the grocery store. It had no "cheese pull" when you dipped your chip in and out, so I suspect it WAS the same Velveeta. I had the Mexican Pot Roast street tacos, on the recommendation of our server. I was not a fan of these in the slightest. The meat was in huge gigantic chunks and very very dry (I almost choked on the dryness at one point). I had to add some of the Velveeta queso to it to even be able to eat any more. The beans and rice saved this one in whatever way a side dish can. The rice was flavorful, almost like a Spanish Rice. The beans were tasty and were absolutely covered with shredded cheese. Mixing the two together in each bite was a good choice. My husband got his old favorite from his previous experiences - the #5, a two enchilada plate. He had it with beef and said it wasn't as great as he remembered, that maybe they changed the recipe a little. I had a few bites and did enjoy the tortilla by itself (no meat) with the enchilada sauce that pooled on the plate. Fernando's is not inexpensive in the slightest, so I can't recommend it to anyone, based on that either. If you want some semi-okay Tex Mex at a pretty big up charge, then give Fernando's a try. I just think you can get a lot more authentic Mexican (for a lot cheaper) elsewhere in Omaha.
